Source: NPR – The government is launching a new effort to encourage “short sales” of houses in danger of foreclosure. The Treasury Department will offer more than $3,000 in incentives to lenders and homeowners. Nearly 5 million people around United States are seriously delinquent on their mortgages. Some may be able to save their homes if they can negotiate a loan modification with a lower payment from a lender.
