Jersey Shore: Looking to Phase Out Snooki and The Situation?

With Snooki pregnant and engaged (!) and The Situation in rehab, the producers of Jersey Shore are obviously concerned. For the stars, sure, but mostly for the show. Apparently they are worried the show will lose its edge – being a show about a bunch of drunk, sex-crazed rowdies – and are looking to phase the two out. Newer, crazier cast members are apparently being sought. MTV released a statement earlier this week, after Mike admitted his substance abuse problem , claiming it expects the entire cast to return for Season 6. However, sources close to 495 Productions say the company is quite concerned about the recent events and wants to keep things fresh above all else. If that means bringing in new JS cast members to help transition the show into a new generation, while still keeping old fans hooked, then so be it. 495 plans to limit Snooki and Situation’s roles on the new season, giving the new cast members more screen time instead. Filming begins this summer. Would you watch Jersey Shore without Snooki and Mike?

Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter: New Trailer, Same Absurdity

Few movie titles are as self-explanatory as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter . Or absurd, for that matter. But that doesn’t mean it won’t find an audience! A mash-up of historical drama and horror, it features a faux Lincoln, haunted by the death of his mother at a young age at the hands of the blood suckers. He devotes his life, and gains the presidency, as part of his quest to rid the world of the scourge of vampires. Really, what other issue matters more to voters? The film arrives June 22 and features Benjamin Walker as the U.S. President who not only saved the Union, but apparently was quite the slayer of the undead . .. Jersey Shore Season 6: It’s On, With Pregnant Snooki!

Thought Snooki’s pregnancy would derail Jersey Shore? Think again! When Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi confirmed she’s expecting a baby, many assumed that the MTV reality series, which just wrapped its fifth season (in just over two years’ time), was kaput, officially, or at least destined to lose the Snook. No. Season 6 is a go, with the full cast in tow. Fist-pump/head-slap! The show will return again to the STD-friendly confines of Seaside Heights, N.J., where the gang will venture into “uncharted territory” this time around. A press release from MTV, confirming the new season today, reads: “While things will definitely be a little different this time when they hit the boardwalk, their trademark hilarity and family dysfunction will remain the same.” That’s putting it mildly. Say a prayer for the unborn guido/ette. Incidentally, Snooki’s baby, her first with fiance Jionni LaValle , isn’t due until the fall, so that leaves time for plenty of pregnant partying this summer. Will Snooki be a good mom?
