Supa Dupa Fly: Missy Elliott To Receive MTV Video Vanguard Award After Strong Social Media Push

Source: Paras Griffin / Getty In waaaaaaaaay overdue news… Missy Elliott To Receive Video Vanguard Award The time has finally come. Missy Elliott is finally receiving MTV’s coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. The iconic Hefty bag baring rapper, producer and songwriter will receive the award on Aug. 26 at the 2019 VMAs. Variety reports that Missy will perform live at the awards show for the first time in 16 years. “Missy’s impact on the music landscape is indelible,” said Bruce Gillmer, MTV International co-brand head and Viacom music and music talent head. “Her creative vision across production, performance and songwriting is unmatched.” Elliott, a five-time Grammy Award winner and the first female hip-hop artist to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, has sold more than 30 million records worldwide, thanks to hits like “Work It,” “Get Ur Freak On” and “WTF (Where They From).” She is the only female rapper to have six studio albums certified platinum. Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, and Kanye have all previously received the award in recent years. Last year the award went to J.Lo and there was noticeable upset on social media from folks who wanted the honor to go to Missy. Crissle West and Kid Fury of “The Read” helped push the need for Missy to be honored and Missy expressed her gratitude today on Twitter. The beauty influencer with 3.1 million YouTube subscribers was surprised by the Ghanaian-British founder of Mr. Work Smarter with a gorgeous ring after he blindfolded her and walked her up a staircase where a saxophonist was playing Sade’s greatest hits. “As she was walking up the stairs, her favorite song, ‘Nothing Can Come Between Us,’ was being played as I knew it would mean so much to her,” said Denis to US Weekly about the proposal. “We put a blindfold on her and I was anxious because I wanted it to go perfectly. The “Moonlight”/”Bird Box” actor doesn’t use much social media but a friend apparently shared a photo of the actor coupled up with a woman captioned “Congratulations.” In it, he’s posing with fitness model Mara Wright and toasting with people who seem to be members of Wright’s family as they speak in German. #BossipMukbang: 26-Inch Pancakes & An Embarassing Post-Sex Story Welcome to BOSSIP’s Mukbang! In this original series, we’re bringing you episodes infused with messy stories all mashed up with deliciously (messy) food. We all know that the best stories from your life and relationship are shared over a good meal, so we (smartly) put those two together to deliver some viciously funny content. From the first date experience, all the way to marriage we got some victims guests to spill EVERYTHING—but their food. For our Mukbangs, we’re sticking with the online craze of storytelling on camera with over the top meals but our guests are specifically dishing on dating. Their stories are just as juicy as the food they’re eating and in a twist, the BOSSIP staff is providing commentary on what we really think about our brave Mukbangers and their bizarre dating mishaps. This time, Durrell (@DurelllyOnsPerforms) tells Patrick (@PatrickLamontJr) a story about a hookup he had with a “bag of bones” on the campus of Savannah State University. According to Durrell he and the young lady had a smash session that put him to sleep and he got so comfortable that he had a wet dream. Not that kind of wet dream, however, one of the commode kind. A pissy bedding blunder ensued and Durrell’s cringe-worthy story is so crazy that you won’t be able to look away. Oh, and of COURSE there’s something amiss with those enormous pancakes—but are Durell and Patrick greedy enough to eat them anyway? Watch things get deliciously messy and viciously hilarious above.

The news comes from Billboard who notes that the Houston hot girl filed the trademark July 10, the same day she publicly responded to one of her fans saying she was actively “in the process” of making it happen. Things got especially interesting however when Marlo’s nemesis Kenya Moore showed up.
