South Korea claimed that it retaliated by firing artillery shells back at North Korea and has begun launching military aircraft to protect its borders and possibly take out artillery positions if the firing continues. North Korea said that any attempts by the South Koreans to cross the border – “even by 0.001 millimeter” – would result in another attack. South Korea has responded that any retaliations by the North would result in “extreme retaliations” by the South.
