Matt Smith is leaving the TARDIS for the Terminator. The British actor, best known for playing the title character in Dr. Who for four years, has signed on to the rebooted Terminator franchise. Details on the role are unknown at this time, except that Smith will portray a new character with a strong connection to anti-robot resistance fighter John Connor. That famous character will be played by Jason Clarke. “We don’t have a TARDIS, but we do have a Time Lord: we’re pleased to welcome Matt Smith to the cast of #Terminator,” Tweeted production company Skydance today, confirming the news. Alan Taylor will direct Terminator: Genesis (working title) and Paramount has set a release date of July 1, 2015. Nigel Ackland, 53, has been fitted with the Terminator-like carbon fibre mechanical hand which he can control with movements in his upper arm. The new bebionic3 myoelectric hand, which is also made from aluminium and alloy knuckles, moves like a real human limb by responding to Nigel’s muscle twitches. The star of Terminator Salvation, Clash of the Titans and Avatar was arrested for fighting on Saturday in Atlanta. He was charged with disorderly conduct, but the charge was dismissed in court Monday morning, according to news reports. The actor, 36, tangled with a doorman at the Vortex bar and grill when he was turned away for being verbally abusive and apparently intoxicated, according to a police report obtained by Celebuzz.com. Actor Nick Stahl’s family filed a missing-person report Monday, but there were ongoing issues that predated the Terminator 3 star’s disappearance. According to court papers, he was involved in a custody battle with wife Roseann, who reported Nick Stahl missing , over their 2-year-old daughter Marlo. She filed in February requesting that Nick not be allowed unsupervised visits with their daughter. She also requested both legal and physical custody. Nick and Roseann are still married, but estranged and living apart. Roseann, 30, also stated that in 2011 she estimated the Terminator Salvation actor’s income to be $500,000 while she listed her own income as $0. She said her total monthly expenses were $6,065. In March, she subsequently requested Nick pay $3,807 monthly in child support, and he agreed. It’s unclear if Nick Stahl’s drug problems played a role in his disappearance, but they were bad enough to worry Roseann at the time he vanished. He was granted only supervised visitation with their child, however, and was barred from consuming alcoholic beverages or narcotics within 24 hours.
