She visited Haiti over the weekend with Valerie Amos, the United Nations humanitarian affairs chief, but the full itinerary was not disclosed. In a Tweet on Monday afternoon, the U.N. agency said the two had visited patients at a pediatric hospital and earthquake survivors. American officials have struggled to convince people that progress is being made after a quake that took 300,000 lives and left millions without homes.
