Here Come The Brides: Same Sex Maine Couple Win $100K Dream Wedding From Magazine Contest

Gotta love those progressive folks in Maine! A pair of single ladies in Maine will soon be wives — to each other– and they’ll get to do it in grand style thanks to their win in a recent magazine contest that will sponsor their $100,000 dream wedding. Via NBCNews reports : A magazine in Maine awarded a $100,000 wedding to a same sex couple on Sunday during its annual contest, making the pair the first gay couple to take home the highly sought after prize. Jenna Eagleton and Caroline Currie of Portland, Maine beat out three other couples to win the Real Maine Weddings competition. Couples submited a video to the magazine’s website explaining why they deserve a free dream wedding, and the public votes on their favorite. Eagleton and Currie were the first gay couple to enter the contest. A gay marriage referendum was approved in Maine last November, and same-sex marriage has been legal in the state since December. “It really makes a statement, it really shows that yes, this is OK, this is right and this is the way things are,” Eagleton told Bangor, Maine’s WLBZ. The couple plans to wed in October in Kennebunkport, according to the RealMaineWeddings website. The prize will go towards weddings expenses like the bridal gown, tuxedos, rings and flowers. The public will have the chance to vote on many of the decisions that go into planning the wedding along the way. “Love is love, I mean, that’s it,” said Currie. Congrats, they’re a cute couple riiiiiiiight? Just sayin’. You know times are changing when the public is deciding they like gay couples better than straight ones in a contest.

What Are Badges? A Guide To Achievements On Current TV

Literally one month ago we announced that achievements are coming to Current TV, and well, today is the day! We're in the process of rolling out badges and achievements to the site, along with a whole bunch of other goodies like new profile pages, activity streams, and Twitter integration. You can read all about those updates on this post. This post is dedicated to badges. What are badges? They are used to mark achievements that you unlock by participating on our site. For example: Some ways to unlock badges are: Posting and voting on comments. Connecting your Current profile to your Facebook and Twitter. Earning positive votes from others in the community. Posting stories and comments on Twitter and Facebook. And many more! Each badge is worth points, and some badges are worth more points than others. To earn the most points, you'll need to unlock the badges that are most valuable on the site. When you unlock a badge you'll be notified with an alert at the bottom of the page. Don't worry if you missed the notification, you can always head over to your profile page and find a list of the badges you've unlocked under the “Badges” sort found in the “My Activity” tab. We also display the total points you've earned below your username on your profile page. Read our announcement on the blog to learn more about the all-new profile page and activity feeds. Here's a list of the first round of badges we're launching with. Check out the full list, then visit your profile to see which ones you've unlocked. Or better yet, click on any of the badges to see a list of other community members savvy enough to unlock some of the badges in the system. For example, the Ye Olde-Tymer badge is a retired achievement given only to community members who registered before 10/16/2007. Wanna
