NASCAR star Tony Stewart is under police investigation after taking the life of fellow driver Kevin Ward Jr. in a horrific accident yesterday during the Empire Super Sprints series event in Canandaigua, New York. Ward was 20 years old. His vehicle had crashed into an outside wall after being clipped by another driver (believed to be Stewart). Ward proceeded to exit his car walk on to the track to confront Stewart. In the following video, you can see Ward pointing his finger and yelling, as one car swerves to avoid him and then Stewart’s No. 14 plows into him. Stewart dropped out today’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race in response to the tragedy, saying via statement: “There aren’t words to describe the sadness I feel about the accident that took the life of Kevin Ward Jr. It’s a very emotional time for all involved, and it is the reason I’ve decided not to participate in today’s race at Watkins Glen. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and everyone affected by this tragedy.” Ward’s family also released a statement Sunday afternoon. “We appreciate the prayers and support we are receiving from the community, but we need time to grieve and wrap our heads around all of this,” they said. 21 Shocking Celebrity Deaths 1.
