Sexting isn’t just a bad idea, it can also land you in jail. After receiving an anonymous tip of nude photos posted on a Twitter account, the James City County Police Department in Virginia has charged a 16 year old girl with one count of distributing child pornography… for pictures she took of herself. The nude selfies were shared on Twitter as well as sent to some boys. Police say the lewdness of the photos crossed the line from sexting to child pornography.  The teen and her mother could be forced to complete a Sexting Education class as well as facing jail time. Anyone who has the photos and shares them with friends could potentially be charged with distribution of child pornography.  The girl’s phone was confiscated as part of the investigation, which might be the only part of this story that doesn’t leave me shaking my head.
