Caitlyn Jenner: Proud to Be an American!

Caitlyn Jenner celebrated her first Fourth of July yesterday as… well… herself. Sharing a photo of the American Flag with her two million-plus followers, the transgender star quoted a famous song about the best nation in the world and Tweeted on Saturday: “Happy 4th of July! Proud to be an American … where at least I am free to be me.” Jenner, of course, opened way up to Diane Sawyer about her sexual identity in an ABC interview on April 24 and then came out on the cover of Vanity Fair weeks later.  This message represented only her 15th Tweet since establishing her own social media account. When Caitlyn took to Twitter in May, she became the fastest person to amass over one million followers, accomplishing the feat in fewer than 24 hours. Jenner has since become an advocate for LGBT rights, attending a Gay Pride Parade party in New York City last week and dining with other members of the transgender community. On July 26, E! will air I Am Cait , an eight-episode docuseries that chronicles the life of this former Olympian. The new  and free life of this former Olympian, we should say.
