Bella Hadid Named Most Beautiful Woman in the World by Science (Not Twitter)

Bella Hadid has been dubbed The Most Beautiful Woman in the World . By editors at People Magazine because her PR team struck up a deal with the publication? No, but something far more reliable and concrete than that… … by science. On Tuesday, cosmetic surgeon Dr. Julian De Silva explained that the supermodel took this important crown based on modern facial mapping techniques, using the classic Greek “Golden Ratio of Beauty Phi.” Really. We’re not making this up. Dr De Silva — who runs London’s Centre For Advanced Facial Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery — said this conclusion was arrived at as follows: “Bella Hadid was the clear winner when all elements of the face were measured for physical perfection. “She had the highest overall reading for her chin which, with a score of 99.7%, is only 0.3% away from being the perfect shape. Bella also came second behind Scarlett Johansson for the positioning of her eyes.” Seriously, how often have you sat there and marveled at just how well-positioned Hadid’s eyes were? The doctor continued to break it all down: “Beyoncé ran her a close second, scoring the highest marks for the shape of her face (99.6%) and getting very high scores for her eyes, brow area and lips. “These brand new computer mapping techniques allow us to solve some of the mysteries of what it is that makes someone physically beautiful and the technology is useful when planning patients’ surgery.” As detailed above and laid out below, Beyonce finished second to Hadid, Amber Heard came in third, Ariana Grande came in fourth and Taylor Swift rounded out the top five. Here’s the thing, though: While science is typically a strong indicator of something’s validity (see change, climate), there’s something even stronger out there: The passion of the Beyhive, which simply can’t believe their heroine failed to finish atop this list. “There is no world where Bella hadid looks better than Beyoncé. None. Not even on Opposite Day,” wrote one Twitter follower, while another broke out the race card: i’m sorry? i just heard that beyoncé came SECOND to bella hadid for the most beautiful person in the world????? ugh racism. Kate Moss, Scarlet Johannson, Natalie Portman, Katy Perry and Cara Delevigne also made the top 10. As for this Golden Ratio thing? It was was used by artists such as Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci to mathematically calculate beauty for their works of art. According to the equation, the closer the ratios of a face or body are to the number 1.618 (Phi), the more beautiful the object. However, when applied to the human form as a criteria of beauty, many have criticized it for preferring certain features and promoting racist stereotypes. Demi Lovato Admits to Feud With Taylor Swift: Life’s Too Short For This Sh-t!

Last week saw the release of a new Taylor Swift album, and while fans of good music have already moved on to Lana Del Rey’s latest release, fans of petty drama are still dissecting Lover’s lyrics in search of clues. Of course, while there’s surely much for Swiftologists to decipher in the their queen’s new songs, true to its name, Lover seems to be more inspired by Taylor’s relationship with Joe Alwyn than by her many quarrels. That’s a little disappointing, becuase Tay has a whole lot of irons in the fire these days in terms of personal and professional rivalries, including an unexpected beef with Demi Lovato. It all started when Swift expressed her displeasure with the fact that music mogul Scooter Braun has purchased the rights to her earliest albums. Swift slammed Braun in a lengthy social media tirade, writing: “Some fun facts about today’s news: I learned about Scooter Braun’s purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world,” Taylor wrote. “All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years,” she added. This led to tension between Taylor and Demi, who has long been a supporter of Braun’s. “I have dealt with bad people in this industry, and Scooter is not one of them. He’s a good man,” Lovato wrote in Braun’s defense. “Personally, I’m grateful he came into my life when he did. Please stop ‘dragging’ people or bullying them. There’s enough hate in this world as it is. Y’all can come after me all you want, but I’m always gonna stay loyal to my team,” Demi added. “I value loyalty more than most people in this world, and if my name is gonna be brought into conversations, I’m gonna stand up for myself and the ones on my team,” she concluded. The situation between the singers deteriorated so rapidly that it was rumored that Demi skipped the VMAs just to “shade” Taylor on her big night. We later learned that Lovato actually had a legitimate reason for staying home that had nothing to do with Swift. (She was filming an episode of Will & Grace , and will apparently be a regular cast member on the sitcom next season.) And now, Demi is making sure the world knows that she harbors no ill will toward Taylor. “Life’s too short for women not to support other women…especially when women release great music,” she wrote, on Instagram, adding “great job @taylorswift.” The last comment seems to be a reference to Taylor’s new album, which is apparently a favorite of Demi’s. The singer made it clear that she’s a fan by highlighting her favorite track: So there you have it. The beef between Taylor and Demi was very real — but it’s already been squashed. Swift is on a real peace-making streak latelt, having ended her feud with Katy Perry earlier this summer. The Michael Jackson Vanguard Award, named for the late singer, is usually given to a performer who has created timeless pieces of art through the medium of music videos. Reportedly executives at the network are looking to change the name in order to distance themselves after the fallout of the explosive accusations made in HBO’s Leaving Neverland documentary. In the two-part series, two of Michael Jackson ’s former mentees, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, claim they were sexually abused by the singer over a period of years while they were minors. [There’s also talk] about who would pre­sent it and who would accept it. It’s a mess.” “MTV [potentially] banning his name is the latest fallout. They haven’t decided yet, but they’ve been going back and forth on it. There are a lot of issues,” a source continued. The allegations made by Robson and Safechuck have been refuted by Jackson’s family and his estate. In February Jackson’s estate filed a $100 million dollar lawsuit against the network, claiming it had breached a prior contract by making disparaging remarks about the singer. HBO has countered, saying the terms of the contract have long since expired. The award first appeared in 1984 at the network’s inaugural show, and Jackson received the award in 1988. It was later named after the pop star in 1991. Rihanna, Beyoncé, Kanye West, Justin Timberlake and Jennifer Lopez are some of the A-listers who have received the honor. Nominees for the award categories were announced last week, with Taylor Swift, Arianna Grande and Lil Nas X topping the list. The network has not yet announced who will receive the award in 2019. Ciara was one of many celeb guest appearances in a video for Swift’s new song  You Need To Calm Down , among them include Ellen DeGeneres, RuPaul, Katy Perry, Laverne Cox and Billy Porter. Bill Cosby Had the Actual Nerve to Tweet a Father’s Day Message

These days, Bill Cosby is sitting in a prison cell, presumably harboring disturbed fantasies about offering tea to Meghan Markle . But over the weekend, he shocked the world by taking to Twitter. Bill Cosby's Twitter account shared a throwback video, a Father's Day message, and strongly implied that he's been framed by racists. “Hey, Hey, Hey…” Cosby's tweet begins. “It’s America’s Dad…” Interestingly, Matt Lauer has also been referred to as “America's Dad.” He's also not too popular now that people know who he really is. “I know it’s late,” Cosby acknowledges. “But to all of the Dads…” He writes: “It’s an honor to be called a Father,” “So,” Cosby's tweet suggests. “Let’s make today a renewed oath to fulfilling our purpose.” What purpose, you ask? Don't worry — he spells it out. He says that father's have an obligation towards “strengthening our families and communities.” Okay, sure. “#HappyFathersDay” Cosby's tweet is tagged. “#RenewedOathToOurFamily.” But what is really raising eyebrows — aside from this brash tweet from a notorious monster — is the accompanying video. “After slavery was over,” Cosby says in the throwback video. “America kept breaking up the black man's family.” “And,” he admits. “That's some awful history to teach.” “Now,” he continues. “If you wanna look history right straight in the eye, you're gonna get a black eye.” “Because it isn't important if a few black heroes got lost or stolen or strained in America's history textbooks,” Cosby suggests. “What's important,” Cosby explains. “Is  why  they got left out.” “Now,” Cosby continues in the video. “This country has got a psychological history.” “There was a master race, and there was a slave race,” he acknowledges. “And though there isn't any political slavery,” Cosby says, adding: “Anymore.” “Those same old attitudes,” he notes. “Have hung around.” Bill Cosby may be easily one of the most prolifically awful people we can think of, but what he says in this old, old video is true. “The burning part of 'Burn, Baby, Burn' is right here in this classroom.” Cosby says. This is when the clip reveals that he is standing in a fourth grade classroom full of students who are working on art. He then thanks the students and their teacher for allowing him to make the video and for the artwork that they're doing. As you can imagine, Cosby's out-of-the-blue tweet, both tone deaf and tasteless, caught people off guard. This went doubly true in light of O.J. Simpson's shocking creation of a Twitter account . The jokes write themselves, but some Twitter denizens got creative. That said, Cosby's video was much worse than merely tasteless or tone deaf. It doesn't take an analytical genius to read between the lines. Cosby is all but flat-out saying that America is silencing him because he's a prominent and influential black man. White supremacy is very real and very harmful. But we think that Cosby's situation has more to do with 60 women who didn't like being drugged and assaulted. We're reminded of R. Kelly making very similar claims about his numerous accusers. It take s a special kind of awful for a person to try to use real narratives of oppression to defend themselves.

Jana Duggar: I Need to Find a Man Like Jim Bob!

If you only know one thing about Jana Duggar, it’s probably that she’s unmarried. That wouldn’t be a big deal for most 29-year-olds, but the fact that  Jana is still single  just a few months shy of 30 is highly unusual for a woman in her community. Duggar women are taught from a young age that procreation is one of their two main reasons for being. (The other being religious devotion, of course.) Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are devotees of the Quiverfull movement and its disgraced founder, Bill Gothard . Gothard teaches that it’s the job of every Christian to produce as many offspring as possible with the goal of eventually overwhelming the rest of the population and creating a Christian planet. As a result, within the Duggars’ community, there’s a tendency to look at a woman who’s “squandered” so many child-bearing years with curiosity … or even contempt. Even Jim Bob has stated that he can’t understand why Jana hasn’t found the right guy . We’re sure he meant to be sympathetic, but knowing that you’re a source of constant befuddlement to your own family has got to be a pretty lonely feeling. Anyway, in spite of the subtle shade and the fact that she’s basically treated like a household slave , Jana still thinks her dad is the best thing since floor-length denim skirts, and she reminded the world of her love for Jim Bob in a recent Instagram post. “Happy Father’s Day to the most wonderful Dad in the whole WORLD!” began Jana’s lengthy caption for the photo above: “My Dad is the one who has taught me so many skills—from tiling floors, basic plumbing & electrical, painting, and car maintenance, to how to get the best deals. He taught me how to drive, helped me buy my first car, and has let me try my hand at design on his different real estate projects… even if it means spending a little more time and money to correct something I’ve messed up on (sometimes we learn by trial and error). “Dad has taught me so much as we work on different projects! Whether it’s designing a home or business space, picking out paint colors, flooring, windows or doors, he’s the mastermind, and I love learning from him and doing projects together with him!!” If you thought Jana was done, you’ve got another thing coming: “Dad is a giver. Always giving of his own goods and supplies without expecting anything in return,” Jana continued. “He’s the first one to start a party no matter the occasion.” (Editor’s note: We never really pictured Jim Bob as a party guy, but hey — life is full of surprises!) “He’s the one that pushes us out of our ‘comfort zone’ (for which I am grateful…. at times.) We all need one of those people in our lives!” Jana continued. “He is quick to ask for forgiveness. He is a humble man. A man of patience, kindness, compassion, determination, strong. He is the one that leads our family and points us to Christ no matter the circumstance. “He’s my Daddy and I’m his little girl. Couldn’t have prayed for a better Dad and can only hope to find a man like him to marry someday!!” “Daddy—Happy Father’s Day from your little girl! I love you so much!” she concluded. All of it is very nice, and we applaud Jana for laying her feeling out there so candidly in this age of irony. But everything the Duggars do gets scrutinized and dissected within an inch of its life, so even though Jana couldn’t have made herself any more clear, dozens of followers still zeroed in on the one line about possibly getting married someday. “I am in tears,” wrote one such fan. “What wonderful things to say in honor of your dad. I have no doubt God will bless you with a Godly man like your dad. Just thank God for that future husband of yours.” We suppose Jana sort of invited the speculation by alluding to the fact that she’s still single. Still, the obsession with this twentysomething’s marital status will never not be weird to us. Here’s hoping she’s not as hung up on when and if she’ll get married as her followers seem to be. Taylor Swift Dresses as French Fries, Embraces New Bestie… Katy Perry?!?

Taylor Swift has released the first video off her upcoming new album . It features an endless array of celebrities, along with a progressive and important political message… … but most folks are really just focused on the following screen capture from this footage. Yup. That’s a photo of Swift and Katy Perry dressed up as an order of french fries and a hamburger, respectively. The unexpected cameo by Perry in Swift’s music video for “You Need to Calm Down” comes days after Perry shared a photo online of a plate of cookies , which served as a symbol of peace between the long-time rivals. It’s been widely presumed these two had beef because Swift believed many years ago that Katy stole some backup dancers from her tour . Neither of these superstars ever confirmed this strong rumor, but Taylor wrote the single “Bad Blood” about Perry and Perry talked very openly over the years about how Swift tried to destroy her . But those days are apparently in the past. What has sent them to that place? It would appear to be a common cause. Both artists have been vocal supporters of the LGBTQ community and they share the screen in the video below, which debuted on Monday during Good Morning America and also during Pride Month. Along with several others. The track’s lyrics also make Swift’s intentions very clear. To wit: “Why are you mad when you could be GLAAD?” she asks, echoing the last phrase for good measure. “Sunshine on the street at the parade/But you would rather be in the dark ages/Makin’ that sign must’ve taken all night.” Swift has become more vocal about her politics over the past year or so, likely as a response to Donald Trump’s election. For the first time in her career, she endorsed not one but two political candidates, Tennessee Democrats Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper, while they were running for the US Senate and House of Representatives in 2018. We can’t help but wonder if she’ll make her voice heard in the next Presidential election as well. Of course, now that her feud with Perry is over, only one question remains: When can we expect her and Kim Kardashians to dress up like a couple of milkshakes and embrace on camera? Never? Never, ever, ever, ever ? Oh, okay then.
