It’s official. The Internet is now officially property of Gen. Colin Powell. The former U.S. Army General and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff shared an incredible throwback Thursday selfie via Facebook on March 13. Check out the would-be Secretary of State over a half century ago … “Throwback Thursday – I was doing selfies 60 years before you Facebook folks,” the now 76-year-old joked in his caption. “Eat your heart out Ellen!” The black and white snapshot shows a (very!) handsome young Powell, who looks to be in his late teens or early ’20s, taking a selfie in his room. Can you imagine having to use a mirror to take a selfie, people? Decades before camera phones made it a thing, that took some creativity on his part. Powell’s caption is in reference to Ellen DeGeneres’ Oscar selfie / Samsung product placement on March 2 that became the most re-tweeted item of all time.
