This marks a new milestone in both the U.S. and across the world, surpassing the 20 million streams that One Direction’s “Drag Me Down” launched in its debut week. Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this week, Bieber said he was reduced to tears during the VMAs because the performance was “so overwhelming for me … I just wasn’t expecting them to support me in the way they did.” He even acknowledged having been booed on stage at the Juno Awards .
