With the just-announced renewal of The Late Show through 2014, David Letterman is set to become the longest-running late-night host in TV history. Letterman and Craig Ferguson both renewed contracts with CBS . Letterman’s Late Show and Ferguson’s Late Late Show will remain air through 2014. Letterman has weathered a sex scandal , Sarah Palin, Rosie O’Donnell, and accusations of mailing it in to become a TV institution of incredible longevity. Dave launched his career with NBC’s Late Night in 1982. With this new deal, he’ll surpass Johnny Carson’s record of 30 years hosting a late night talk show.
