24 Stars Who Swore They Were Really, Really Sorry

So… are you buying it? Are you buying what these actors, singers and athletes are selling? Over the years, a number of celebrities have messed up and these same stars have issued supposedly heartfelt apologies in response to these scandals. We've collected some of the most memorable mea culpas below and we want to know: Who do you believe most? 1. Ryan Lochte Oops, Ryan Lochte’s bad! He’s very sorry he lied about getting held up at gunpoint during the Rio Olympics. Click on the his name above to read his full statement. 2. Ariana Grande Ariana Grande is VERY sorry for slamming America while inside a California donut shop. She issues a mea culpa in this video. 3. Kobe Bryant Kobe Bryant immediately addressed sexual assault charges in 2003. Seated alongside wife Vanessa, he tearfully said he was guilty of adultery, not rape. 4. John Mayer John Mayer told Playboy in 2010 that he gets a “n-gger pass” because African-Americans like him. He apologized via Twitter with: “It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualize using it, because I realize that there’s no intellectualizing a word that is so emotionally charged.” 5. Christian Bale Christian Bale was caught on tape, exploding during the filming of Terminator: Salvation. But he called himself a “punk” during an apologetic radio show appearance and admitted he was “way out of order.” 6. Kanye West It took awhile, but Kanye West finally admitted that interrupting Taylor Swift at the MTV Music Awards was “very rude, period.” Of course, years later, he would go after her again. Student Gets Wisdom Teeth Pulled, Emails THIS to Professor

Over the years, the Internet has been filled with hilarious videos of people who got their wisdom teeth removed… fell into a drug-induced haze… and then said some pretty crazy $hit. Like the girl who believed she was Kylie Jenner . Or the girl who REALLY wished she had bigger boobs . But the following story is a first. It’s the first time in memory that a young woman has undergone this procedure and then reacted to it by jeopardizing her college career. Her name is Abby Jo Hamele and she attends the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. When she is NOT under the spell of hydrocodone, this 19-year old is happy and bubbly and relatively sane, as you can see in her Twitter profile photo above. But after getting her wisdom teeth yanked out and then getting all drugged up, she looked like this: She also believed that her very much alive pug is her dead dog Sammy . But that wasn’t all. Clearly a responsible student, Abby realized that she’d be unable to turn in a class paper on time as a result of her condition. Not in her proper state of mind, she nevertheless took the time to email her professor and explain the situation, giving us one of the most memorable social media messages of 2016 in the process. “I EMAILED MY PHILOSOPHY TA WHILE I WAS HIGH ON HYDROCODON I’M DEAD,” Abby wrote as an introduction and explanation for a Tweet that has gone viral. “I unfortmately got my wisdom teeth sliced outr and have not not been reacting very well to the surgeryy nor the medicatioon i were given/ so I do not thimk that I will be able to habe my paper finisherd by Tuesday at all,” opens the email. We really should just publish the entire thing right here, shouldn’t we? How else could we do it justice? Is tehere any way I would be able to send you my paper at any later date??? I wnt to do very good on this paper you know becayse i like to do well in my classes. please sir I workled very hard and thouught that I would be abel to finish it on timme but my doctor said I will most likelly not be normal again until at least Thanksginvg turkey. If you say no then that is okay but i would be sad and i would reallyyyy lik e it if you said yes. Thank you Kevin, my dude. Abby Jo Hamele (pronounced hah-mil-lee) (if you were wondering) P.S. I will answer youpr questions in class forever so theere are not any more awkard silence. and i will buy you expo markers that work (even thougjh our tuition should pay for markers that work) love you bye The teacher’s assistant actually went ahead and wrote Abby back, which is amazing. He’s clearly an astute fellow. Someone give this man a promotion! And someone give Abby a high-five and maybe also a strong drink. We’re guessing she could use it right about now.

Casey Affleck: Sexual Harassment Allegations Resurface Amidst Oscar Campaign

Back in 2008, Casey Affleck teamed with his then-brother-in-law Joaquin Phoenix to film the experimental mockumentary  I’m Still Here . The film was controversial at the time of its release due to Phoenix’s Andy Kaufman-like immersion in his role, which culminated in a notorious David Letterman interview that left many convinced the actor was suffering some sort of mental collapse. Many predicted that Here would do irreparable damage to both Affleck’s career, and now it’s beginning to look as though that may be the case – but for reasons that have nothing to do with the failure of the movie. Currently, Affleck is enjoying a wealth of awards season buzz for his performance in Manchester By the Sea , and he’s currently considered in Best Actor Oscar race.  Unfortunately for Affleck, the increased media attention generated by his awards push has brought with it some renewed interest in a some disturbing allegations from his past. In 2010, two women who worked on Here came forward to accuse Affleck of multiple acts of sexual harassment. Producer Amanda White and cinematographer Magdalena Gorka sued Affleck for $2 million and $2.25 million respectively, claiming that Affleck verbally and physically harassed them during their time working on the film. White alleged that Affleck often boasted to her about his “sexual exploits,” and at one point instructed another crewmember to show her his penis, despite her objections. She also claimed that Affleck tried to get her to stay in a hotel room with him, and that when she refused, he “grabbed her in a hostile manner in an effort to intimidate her into complying.” Gorka made similar allegations and claimed that Affleck once climbed into a bed she was sleeping in and proceeded to “caress her back,” adding that “his face was within inches of hers and his breath reeked of alcohol.” Gorka described her encounters with Affleck as “the most traumatizing of her career.” Affleck was married to Phoenix’s sister Summer at the time of the alleged incidents. Shortly after White and Gorka filed their suits, Affleck publicly denied the allegations and threatened to countersue. He later settled both cases out of court for an undisclosed sum. Affleck’s situation is drawing comparisons to that of Nate Parker , the star and director of Birth of a Nation , who was also the subject of critical acclaim and awards buzz until the revelation that he was accused of a brutal gang rape by a woman who later committed suicide. Obviously, the allegations against Parker are far more disturbing (he was acquitted at trial, but his co-defendant served several years behind bars), but many still feel that Affleck is benefiting from a double standard. Parker, a black man, found himself at the center of a firestorm of criticism and negative press coverage, while Affleck has scarcely forced to answer for the charges against him. Parker’s name was quickly dropped from all conversations about awards season contenders, and his film quietly came and went from theaters. Audiences and the industry will likely be much more kind to Affleck. The younger brother of Ben Affleck has already taken home acting prizes from the Gotham Awards and the National Board of Review, both of which are considered early Oscar predictors.

He stopped by The Late Show with David Letterman on a couple of occasions, as documented in the following reel of Polito’s most memorable moments in comedy: Jon Polito Comedy Rundown Comedian Scott Aukerman was one of many to pay tribute to the actor after learning of his death. This is what Aukerman wrote on Instagram of Polito: One of the coolest days on Bang Bang recently was when Jon Polito guest starred on our “You Made Your Bed, Now Lie In It” sketch. As a big fan, I was nervous about how he would feel about being in such a stupid sketch, but the minute he saw me, he laughed and said, “I’ve been watching your show, and you’re a sick twist!” He spent all day delightfully regaling us with stories about Miller’s Crossing, Barton Fink, and Death of a Salesman. Then, when the cameras turned on, he slipped into his classic hard-boiled character. A great actor and cool dude! RIP. Jimmy Fallon Pays Moving Tribute to David Letterman: WATCH

This is how you know you've made a serious cultural impact: When even your supposed rivals take time to pay you tribute. In honor of David Letterman retiring on May 20, Jimmy Kimmel will not air a new episode of his talk show. Jimmy Fallon, meanwhile, took five minutes out of The Tonight Show on Tuesday to talk about how his eight grade teacher had predicted he would take over for Letterman someday. He also recalled his final appearance on The Late Show and quoted Letterman verbatim from the latter's emotional first episode back after 9/11. There's only one requirement for any of us, and that is to be courageous – because courage, as you might know, defines all other human behavior , Letterman said at the time. “David Letterman is courageous,” said Fallon. “Have a nice retirement, Dave.” Earlier this week, Tom Hanks used a selfie stick to take a picture with Letterman, while George Clooney recently handcuffed himself to Dave .
