Charlie Sheen knows a thing or two dozen about substance abuse. And that’s a good thing for Brooke Mueller. Two weeks after the actor’s ex-wife jetted down to Mexico for a controversial attempt to get sober (via Ibogaine, a drug that’s illegal in the United States), we have an update on Mueller’s condition and whereabouts: She’s back in the United States, undergoing treatment recommended, and paid for, by Sheen. The relationship between Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller is more complicated then the plot of Inception . Sources tell TMZ that Sheen was worried about Brooke’s Mexican adventure, flew down in a private jet to pick her up and brought her to an undisclosed location in America. He has also hired the same doctors for Mueller that helped him clean up following the incidents that led to his Two and a Half Men firing earlier this year. Expect more rumors of a reconciliation between this former couple to heat up as a result of Sheen’s actions.
The late Amy Winehouse was readying to adopt a 10-year-old girl from St. Lucia at the time of her death, the girl and her grandmother told a UK paper. Dannika Augustine says she met Amy during one of her long visits to the Caribbean island over the past couple of years. Amy often went there for R&R. She says she was living in poverty with her single mom when Winehouse took an interest in her, and that the two remain close from that point on. A-Dubs during one of her lengthy stints in St. Lucia . Dannika tells The Sunday Mirror , “Amy was already my mother.” “I would call her mum and she would call me her daughter. She took care of me and we had fun. I loved her and she loved me … She was the most amazing person and I was looking forward to living with her here or in London.” “This is the worst thing that ever happened to me.” This is not a tabloid fabrication. Dannika’s grandmother, Marjorie, says she was on board with this plan, and she spoke to Amy a few weeks ago about it. Marjorie says Amy planned to return to St. Lucia next month, and that “Amy wanted to have a child so bad …. If she had not died, there is no doubt she would be here in St Lucia completing the adoption process.” “There is no way she would have done what she did to herself if Dannika was with her,” she adds. “I cannot believe she is gone.” Given how Amy Winehouse died , it’s hard to believe sending a 10-year-old girl to live with the Back to Black singer would have benefited anyone, as she seemed largely incapable of taking care of herself, let alone a minor. Nevertheless, it’s tragic for Dannika to lose someone she was apparently so close to. Both of Dannika’s parents had signed off on the adoption. Yet another sad chapter in the untimely death of one of the great singers of our time.
Troubled singer/songwriter Amy Winehouse , best known for her 2006 hit “Rehab”, became the newest musician to join rock’s infamous ” 27 club ” when her body was discovered at her London home Saturday. A security guard came to check on Winehouse Saturday after she went to bed, claiming she was tired and wanted to sleep; when the guard discovered she wasn’t breathing, he called emergency services. Authorities in London are classifying Winehouse’s death as “unexplained” pending an autopsy, though the singer’s long-standing battle with drug and alcohol addiction was well-known and a likely culprit in her death. There has already been an outpouring of Internet tributes to Winehouse, like her producer and friend Mark Ronson , who said “she was my musical soulmate & like a sister to me. this is one of the saddest days of my life.” Another tribute came from comedian and recovering addict Russell Brand , who wrote “Not all of us know someone with the incredible talent that Amy had, but we all know drunks and junkies and they all need help and the help is out there.” Winehouse’s family has asked for privacy during this difficult time, saying Amy’s death “has left a gaping hole in our lives.” Winehouse unfortunately only released two albums, 2003′s Frank and 2006′s Back to Black , in her musical career. She will be missed by her friends, family and millions of fans around the world.
Vanilla Ice (real name Robert Van Winkle) is a man who has been to the top of the music world, only to become a national joke 15 minutes later. His message to Justin Bieber: You’re next! Ice is warning the Bieb to enjoy his success while he can because his fame will be fleeting, and sustaining this kind of success is impossible. From one doomed pop-cultural fad to another? Vanilla, who produced the first hip-hop single to top the Billboard charts, tells the Huffington Post , “I mean, I did ‘Ice Ice Baby’ when I was 16.” “So, yeah, I can kind of relate a bit. Sold over 100 million records. I had a weekend that lasted about three years, and I didn’t know who I was.” “What’s my purpose in life? So my prediction about Bieber is that he’s going to go through one of those weekends that lasts a few years.” “He’s had such success as a child act. But soon something else new will come along and he’ll be forgotten,” Ice laments, adding, “he can try to put all the pieces back together, so it’s going to be entertaining to watch.” As is his custom, Ice is a bit confused about his own biography for one. “Ice Ice Baby” became a hit in 1990, when he was 23 years old. Secondly, Vanilla Ice is the epitome of a flash in the pan, a one-hit wonder, a gimmick with no real substance. Is Justin Bieber the same? We suspect his 11 million Twitter fans think not.
Amy Winehouse’s cause of death is, as of this moment anyway, still being classified as “unexplained” by Scotland Yard. The singer died Saturday at 27. Police issued a statement saying, “At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained and there have been no arrests in connection with the incident.” Ever since officials pronounced Amy Winehouse dead , they have been “operating under the suspicion” it was a drug overdose that led to her demise. However, there is no concrete proof of that … yet. Scotland Yard said yesterday that, “Police were called by London Ambulance Service to a house in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05 hours on Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased.” However, a TMZ report suggests that when paramedics arrived, there were still “signs of life,” although Amy died before she could be transported. There is no information on who alerted the police.
A trip to one’s spouse’s grandmother’s house isn’t a big deal for most, but most of our grandmas aren’t monarchs, nor do they live in palaces. On Friday, Kate Middleton and Queen Elizabeth II went on a one-on-one tour of the exhibitions for the summer opening of Buckingham Palace. The exhibits prominently feature the April 29 royal wedding. Among the items on display are Kate Middleton’s Alexander McQueen wedding dress , her Cartier tiara, and the three-foot-tall wedding cake. Amy Winehouse was found dead in her apartment in London today. Multiple sources confirm that the singer is the woman in this press release from the Metropolitan Police, which doesn’t specifically name her: “Police were called by Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 just before 16 hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman deceased.” “On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death.” “At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained.” Amy Winehouse famously battled serious addiction to hard drugs and alcohol and was in and out of rehab several times throughout the years. Winehouse shot to fame with the 2006 album Back to Black , whose blend of jazz, soul, rock and classic pop won five Grammys and made her a star. Unfortunately, a turbulent marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil and overall self-destructive habits overshadowed her distinctive talent in the years since. Tabloids and the public became riveted by her erratic stage appearances, drunken fights, stints in hospital and rehab clinics, her performances increasingly rambling, stumbling train wrecks – and cause for concern. Just last month, Winehouse canceled her upcoming European tour after an awful performance in Serbia where she seemed completely out of it. Sadly, this story is almost shocking because it is not shocking. Her talent will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace. UPDATE : There were no signs of foul play in the death of Winehouse, Scotland Yard reports. It is still too early to determine cause of death. An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow.
