TRIED IT: Pear Nova Launches A 10-Free Gel Nail Polish And This Is Why You Need To Buy It Now

Go here to see the original:

Source: Danielle James / Courtesy of Danielle James I’ve been using Pear Nova polish for about a year now. Recently, I have gotten into gel manicures. They are a way for me to still embrace my natural nail shape and length; however, not have to worry about my polish chipping after a week. A weekly manicure can be an expensive treat and right now, sis just doesn’t have it. However, the one down side to gel mani’s was that I was constantly concerned about the ingredients within the polish that makes it so long standing. The fumes that come from a nail shop aren’t good for you; they aren’t great for your manicurist either. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve looked for more sustainable and eco-friendly beauty products. Pear Nova has become a great solution for me. Their regular nail polish boasts 5-free, withholding toluene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor and DBP from their formula. It’s also vegan and cruelty free, I appreciate when brands go the extra step. The cute names and pigmented colors are what originally attracted me to the brand. So when they launched their gel polish, I was immediately in. The gel polish boasts 10 free, which is relieving since you tend to wear gel longer than regular nail lacquer. I’m glad founder Rachel James went the extra step. The website instructs to place on a thin layer and I agree. My nail technician was a little heavy handed so while it looks great, it does look a little thick on the nails. The viscosity of the polish is very smooth and the lacquer doesn’t have a smell. Rachel James also took careful thought into the design of the polish. The wand is wider and she explained, “If you have a smaller nail plate or bigger nail plate, you’ll be able to apply.” What made her decide to expand into gel nail polish when her lacquer line was doing so well? “Everyone has been asking forever. I got bullied into it,” she shared exclusively with Hello Beautiful . James is keeping busy. She also has opened up a studio in Chicago where Pear Nova fans can also get their nails done with the coveted studio. James said, “Just having the studio at the same time, it’s been awesome to get real feedback. Showing us what their nails look like three weeks later and it being in tact.” I can attest as I write this and have been wearing the polish for almost three weeks that my nails in deed don’t even have one chip. For $18.50 a bottle, that’s not a bad deal! Not sure what color to get? James shares that people’s favorites are “the nudes and the greens.” I too loved the greens and opted to have a manicure done with Moss Def ($18.50, pearnova.com ) a deep green and Herticulture ($18.50, pearnova.com ), a mint green that James shared is also her “personal favorite.” If you’re looking for a vegan, 10-free, cruelty free, long lasting gel nail polish to take to your manicurist for your next look, consider Pear Nova. If you have already tried it, let us know in the comment section! Sony Is Playing Nice, PlayStation Will Now Supports Cross-Play For Any Game That Uses It, Report

Read more:

Source: CHARLY TRIBALLEAU / Getty Historically, Sony wasn’t initially on board with the idea of cross-play much to the dismay of gamers. When Microsoft and Nintendo came together to allow Fornite players to come together, everyone started looking at PlayStation wondering when they will join in. It seems like that time is now. PlayStation was reluctantly forced into cross-play after gamers made a big stink about not initially being allowed to play with Switch and Xbox One owners. Since then the idea of cross-play was, for the most part, in beta mode with its most significant test being during Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s recent beta. It would seem the folks at PlayStation were pleased with the results and have officially decided to play nice with Switch and Xbox One owners. Sony hasn’t confirmed the news themselves, but in a post from Wired , they elude that Modern Warfare is Sony’s first official foray into the world of cross-play. When it officially launches later this month, the re-imagined version of the iconic first-person shooter will take the feature out its beta mode. So fans, of games like Rocket League and as mentioned above Fortnite who loathed the idea of having to ditch their PS4 console’s to play with friends will no longer have to. Tha’s not the only big news revolving around PlayStation. Sony also announced a significate price cut to it’s PlayStation Now subscription service. The monthly service dropped from $20 to $10 with the annual falling from $100 to $60. The lineup was also bolstered with the addition fo PlayStation exclusives God of War ,  Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End ,  Infamous: Second Son , plus Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V . It would seem like Sony is looking to close out the year strong with the PlayStation 4 and at the same time grown its PlayStation Now service which has 700,000 subscribers at this moment. Dwight Howard Bought A Purple Rolls Royce Because Of Thanos? [Video]

Source: photo: WENN Dwight Howard  clearly roots for the bad guys at the movies. He recently purchased a car in honor of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most celebrated villain. Complex is reporting that the all-star center recently copped a brand new Rolls Royce. Obviously it isn’t rare for NBA players to ball out with luxury vehicles he ordered his modern day chariot in purple. While the color in question could easily be perceived as an homage to his new Los Angeles Lakers team it is really a nod to Thanos. On a recent episode of In Depth with Graham Bensinger  he gave a tour of his 8.8 million dollar Atlanta estate. During a walk through of his garage he discussed the automobile and the inspiration behind it. “I got this purple car because of Thanos. He’s from Avengers and he’s my favorite character. He was able to understand that in order for him to complete his mission, he had to get rid of his emotions, and that’s the hardest thing that we all face” he explained.   He further detailed his enthusiasm towards the character during a segment on FS1’s Fair Game with Kristine Leahy . He discussed how he had a rather big fanboy moment when he found himself on the plane with actor Josh Brolin. “I was sitting, like, two seats behind him, so I write him a letter, and I’m just telling him, ‘Thank you! Your character in this movie changed my life. It changed my thought process, and I really appreciate you for what you did” Dwight revealed. . @DwightHoward loves Thanos so much that he bought a purple car! Tenisha Light-Caba Of Brooklyn Bleu Is Making High-End Vintage Jewelry Affordable For All

Source: Victoria Uwumarogie / HB From the moment I stepped in Brooklyn Bleu , I was impressed. Actually, make that the moment I grabbed the door handle. Even from outside, I could tell that I wasn’t stepping into your ordinary vintage jewelry spot. When I entered, I felt like embraced, not only by the woman who greeted me at the door, but also by the atmosphere. There were splashes of pink, lots of gold, and the sounds of women fawning over shining jewels. The woman behind this dream of a shopping experience is Tenisha Light-Caba. The entrepreneur, who stood in the midst of all of the excitement in a jean Fenty dress , lucite heels and her own vintage Chanel earrings and gold link bracelets fashioned into anklets, started the business in 2010. However, she has been selling vintage jewelry since she was a kid living in California. “I had rummage sales every weekend, making money selling my grandmother’s jewelry,” she told me. “Then it became my chore to clean another grandmother’s jewelry. One would let me make money at the rummage sales selling the jewelry right in front of the house. I would set up a little table, but I wasn’t selling lemonade, I was selling jewelry.” View this post on Instagram Show me Love, Keep all Those Other Vibes for Yourself! Wearing #chanel #vintage #lindaevangelista #1993 #chanelbelt @brooklynbleuny A post shared by Brooklyn Bleu (@brooklynbleuny) on Dec 17, 2018 at 3:11pm PST She’s long past the days of getting her pieces from her grandmother. Nowadays, Tenisha works with private collectors who’ve been in the business for decades to pull together her one-of-a-kind collection, which she’s been able to put in her new store located in The Oculus , otherwise known as Westfield World Trade Center in Manhattan. “I tend to like to work with the same people. This is how I’m able to get my hands on the good stuff. I take care of them, they take care of me,” she said. “They have a lot. They have more than what I could ever afford to buy. Where they get it from? Who knows.” Her collection has expanded greatly, taking her from her early beginnings of selling in a brownstone, moving on to Chelsea Market, to eventually having her own space, one of the few minority-owned businesses in the Oculus. “We first started our business in a historic brownstone in Brooklyn,” she said of her journey. “I’ve never had the space. I’ve usually worked at an artisan market. This is the biggest space I’ve ever had. This gives me a chance to really shine, have lighting and really make it my own.” It hasn’t been an easy journey, but it’s been a successful one. During her days working at markets like Artists & Fleas and Top Shop on 5th Avenue, Tenisha broke records for her sales. “I worked,” she said. “I put the work in. It’s been so many things that happened in the world over the past 10 years and in that time, I’ve had my business full time. I’m independently funded. I don’t have investors. Now I have payroll and I have employees.” Source: Victoria Uwumarogie / HB What you’ll find at the store is pieces dating back from the ’30s and ’40s. Items from big name fashion houses like Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel, as well as daintier, unique items from all over. The good news is, everything is affordable, but there are items specific to every wallet. For instance, she has inexpensive earrings and necklaces from the ’70s, her “Dainty” and “Re.Fresh” collections. They are old stock that she received from a collector who had a wholesale business in the 1970s, and she replated everything to give it a fresh look. They are being sold between the $20-$40 range. The wide-ranging prices are part of Tenisha’s hope to make people from all walks vintage fans — and welcome when they visit Brooklyn Bleu. “I want people to feel welcomed, to feel like they’re at home. I want them to feel comfortable and good — just as good when they leave,” she said. “That’s the experience they get when they walk through the door, that’s how people treat them, that’s courtesy. That’s being professional and knowing what you have to offer as well. I have to train and work really hard with my staff too so they can pass on that same experience.” She also wants people to know that Brooklyn Bleu will be flexible. If you get a piece and for some reason you need to return it (allergies, any other unexpected issue), she welcomes it back. Source: Victoria Uwumarogie / HB “If someone’s not happy with the piece, it doesn’t make me happy for them to have it,” she said. “I’d rather get it in the hands of someone who’s going to really enjoy it.” With that being said, it’s rare for such a thing to happen with Tenisha’s collection of pieces. You’ll understand when you step in the space and find yourself mesmerized by the statement necklaces, quirky rings, avante-garde earrings, delightful vintage mirrors and ornate bags. Especially at the cost. “It’s important to offer pieces that are accessible and vintage,” she said. “When I go to a place and it feels like everything is just too expensive, it’s like, ‘I thought I was making good money! I can’t even afford this.’ I didn’t ever want people to feel that in here — and they don’t. We have customers who take four and five pieces. Most customers take more than one item.” Brooklyn Bleu is now open and officially located at The Oculus World Trade Center: Church Street, New York, NY 10006
