Watch: Black Trump Supporter Destroyed By NAACP Atlanta President

Read more here:

Y esterday, Trump was in Atlanta for his Black Voices for Trump Coalition . There was tons of buffoonery and one of Trump’s worshipers managed to get himself on television to defend the racist-in-chief. SEE ALSO: Graphic Sex Tape Of Pastor David E. Wilson Cheating On His Wife Has Twitter Torn NAACP Atlanta president Richard Rose and Trump’s Diversity Council director Bruce LeVell were on CNN discussing his clear and dangerous racism. Rose explained, “We take the words of some of the Republicans. As Andrew Gillum said when he was running for governor of Florida, it is the racists who calls this president the racist. It’s Lindsey Graham who said he was racist, xenophobic, and a religious bigot. We can’t disagree with that.” LeVell’s head almost exploded as he ranted, “I have to keep putting this in perspective. It is essential and vital to build Black generational wealth back. Opportunity Zones is a magnificent tool. It’s one of the best tools we have. We can get better, yes. But when you go to an African-American community, ask yourself, who owns the grocery store, the gas stations. I’m one of the largest Black jewelry store owners in the country. I’m African-American … the numbers don’t lie.” Just an important point, Opportunity Zones is a supposed plan to revitalize urban neighborhoods. The program has designated more than 8,000 census tracts across the U.S. as “distressed.” Nonetheless, there are already signs this will only be a bonanza for the wealthy by allowing real estate developers to push out poor people. The Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy reports , “This program runs a high risk of displacing low-income people living in communities from which government has historically and systemically disinvested. Low-income communities targeted by Opportunity Zones are overwhelmingly Black.” Areas for these so-called Opportunity Zones are “63 percent Black and only 28 percent white.” LeVell even denied the validity of a Quinnipiac poll that said 80 percent of African-Americans believe Trump is racist. “No. That’s an unfair statement. That’s unfair,” he whined. LeVell tried to praise the low employment numbers, which Rose countered with, “This has nothing to do with this president. None of that has anything to do with this president. All he had to do was maintain what the Obama Administration had started. Now we’ve got tariffs and trade wars going on. This has been a disaster. Economists tell us we’re headed for a slowdown because of the actions of this president.” Watch the clip below: SEE ALSO: Meet Jogger Joe, The Man Who Took Racist Cue From BBQ Becky In Tossing Homeless Man’s Clothes Trump-Supporting DA Calls ‘Ghetto’ Maxine Waters A ‘Bitch,’ Can’t Believe She Hasn’t Been Shot This Colin Kaepernick Retweet Says Everything You Need To Know About The NFL Players’ Anthem Grievance [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3785430″ overlay=”true”]

Gucci Is Trying To Make House Arrest Fashionable And People Aren’t Having It

The rest is here:

Source: Estrop / Getty Gucci can’t seem to keep to themselves out of trouble. The brand most recently was in trouble for a sweater that resembled Black face and now they are in the hot seat again. Whew chile, where is Dapper Dan ?! Alessandro Michele, the Creative Director for Gucci, presented his Spring 2020 collection in Milan and while the clothes were well received, a certain accessory, less so. An anklet went down the runway but it wasn’t just any anklet. The anklet features “golden bullets” which are actually Gucci Beauty lipsticks; however, the design looks more like an ankle monitor or individuals on house arrest. For things to go into production, it often goes through several rounds of approval. The fact that this made it from in house to runway lets me know that there probably weren’t many (if any) Black people who were a part of the decision making process. While Gucci has promised to come up with new diversity and inclusion and even hired an exec for the position, if people of color are not placed in high levels throughout the organization, things like this happen. Gucci has been lucky it has not been damaging to the brand, especially when Black spending power reaches $1.2 trillion dollars. It may be in part because of their close relationship with Dapper Dan and celebrities like Beyoncé; however, for how long will their social currency protect them? Consumers took to Twitter to express their displeasure and confusion from the brand. We rounded up some of our favorite responses. Keep on clicking to see them all. Beauties, we want to know what you think? Was this out of line or an honest mistake? Are you still rocking with Gucci? Sound off in the comment section below.

Prized “Fighter”: Christina Aguilera Tearfully Accepts Honor For Her Work Combatting Domestic Violence

Source: JB Lacroix / Getty Christina Aguilera Honored For Work Against Domestic Violence Christina Aguilera hasn’t been shy about the things she’s been through in relationships. She readily shares her testimony about surviving domestic violence and what that experience did to her psyche. Those experiences have inspired Aguilera to work on behalf of women like herself who have been abused and a great deal of that work took place at The Shade Tree of Las Vegas. Xtina has been donating to their organization for quite some time and last night they honored her with an award and a ceremony that broke the pop star down to tears according to PEOPLE . “It’s just disgusting and it happens far too much to people that we do love,” Aguilera said in a video posted to her Instagram account. “And it is very dear to my heart, because I did grow up in [violence] and I’m a survivor of it — as I’m sure many of you are — and I’m affected by it.” “It’s so important, the work that you put into this,” she added, speaking of the shelter. “That so many volunteers [put into this], and your donations. They do mean so much to me.” “It’s such a part of who I am, the music that I make, the lyrics that I write, from ‘Fighter’ to ‘Beautiful.’ Everything,” she continued. “It truly does come from the heart.” Check out Christina’s heartfelt Instagram post below. View this post on Instagram #DomesticViolence is obviously a subject very close and personal to my heart. This past week, I was honored to receive an award from @shadetreevegas, a domestic violence shelter that I donate to….and while I tried so hard not to cry, I ended up balling the whole way through my speech because the statistics of domestic violence in the US are truly horrifying & sad and it’s so important to spread more awareness. .. 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men in the US are affected by domestic violence. Every minute, 20 people are affected by intimate partner violence in the US. That is 10 million a year. .. I remember often having to up and escape in the middle of the night with my mom & little sister, having just the clothes on our backs, to drive cross country for shelter at my grandma’s house. Without that, I would have had to turn to a place like @shadetreevegas for shelter. I have so much respect and adoration for those who give their time and support to hear these victims’ stories and help them regain strength, self empowerment and provide resources for a better independent future. Some aren’t so fortunate to get out….which is why it’s so important to work together to put a stop to these horrific statistics. Moreover, this isn’t just an issue in the US, but happens all over the world, in too many homes!! .. We need to use our voices to speak up, reach out and help one another break these deep rooted cycles and empower each other to end these patterns. . If you or someone you know is suffering from abuse, you can call 1-800-799-7233 and go to the @ndvhofficial #NationalDomesticHotline https://www.thehotline.org .. Check out https://theshadetree.org/ to find out more about their amazing work. And go to https://www.domesticshelters.org/fundraisers/wish-lists to find a shelter near you. Botham Jean’s Neighbor Joshua Brown Reportedly Shot And Killed

T ragic news to report. Joshua Brown, Botham Jean ‘s neighbor who testified during the Amber Guyger murder trial, has reportedly been shot and killed. Lee Merritt , attorney for the Jean family, broke the news on social media. READ MORE: Complaint Filed Against Judge Tammy Kemp For ‘Unconstitutional’ Behavior After Amber Guyger Sentencing “Joshua Brown, the next door neighbor of #BothamJean was killed last night after being shot several times by an unknown assailant,” Merritt wrote on Instagram on Saturday. “Local media has reported on the shooting but have not confirmed Brown’s identity. Because, Brown worked closely with prosecutors just a week ago to ensure Amber Guyger was properly convicted in the murder trial, the DA’s office has fairly direct contact with Brown and his family.” Joshua Brown was shot in his mouth & chest. He was exiting his car at his apt when he was ambushed & shot at close range. His mother asked my office to help find out who murdered her son. She suspects foul play. He had no known enemies. He worked for a living. We need answers. pic.twitter.com/k0KizSLMHi — S. Lee Merritt, Esq. (@MeritLaw) October 5, 2019 Merritt confirmed Brown was killed but a suspect or motive is not known. “The case is now in the hands of the Dallas Police Department… Brown deserves the same justice he sought to ensure the Jean family,” Merritt wrote. “The Dallas County criminal justice system must mobilized [sic] to identify his killer and see that he is held accountable for this murder.” View this post on Instagram Joshua Brown, the next door neighbor of #BothamJean was killed last night after being shot several times by an unknown assailant. Local media has reported on the shooting but have not confirmed Brown’s identity. Because, Brown worked closely with prosecutors just a week ago to ensure Amber Guyger was properly convicted in the murder trial, the DA’s office has fairly direct contact with Brown and his family. An ADA has confirmed that it was in fact Brown who was killed although they have yet to identify a suspect or motive for the shooting. The case is now in the hands of the Dallas Police Department. Brown’s testimony stood out as a fact witness who was approaching his apartment directly across from Botham Jean’s apartment when shots rang out. Brown was still visibly shaken up from the incident when he took the stand to testify on behalf of the prosecution. His murder underscores the reality of the black experience in America. A former athlete turned entrepreneur— Brown lived in constant fear that he could be the next victim of gun violence, either state sanctioned or otherwise. We have more work to do deal with the constant threats to our community both from within and without. Brown deserves the same justice he sought to ensure the Jean family. The Dallas County criminal justice system must mobilized to identify his killer and see that he is held accountable for this murder. A post shared by S. Lee Merritt, Esquire (@leemerrittesq) on Oct 5, 2019 at 1:25pm PDT Brown, who said he lived directly across the hall from Jean, testified that the two never formally met but said he could always hear Jean singing. That seemed to be an indication of the acoustics in the apartment building. Brown, like the other neighbors who testified, claimed he never heard any verbal commands being given before he heard the gun shots fired that killed Jean. Brown delivered an unforgettable and emotional testimony. Watch below. “Joshua Brown, a neighbor of Botham Jean’s and Guyger at the South Side Flats apartments, was slain about 10:30 p.m. in the 4600 block of Cedar Springs Road,” Dallas News also reported. He was reportedly 28 years old. Our thoughts go out to everyone affected by this tragedy. SEE ALSO: Black Bailiff Goes Viral For Stroking Amber Guyger’s Hair Following Guilty Verdict Outrageous! Cross Colours: Black Fashion In The 20th Century Exhibition Comes To The CAAM Museum

Source: Kevin Mazur / Getty The 90’s produced an era of African American brands that revolutionized fashion and left a long lasting affect on Black culture . From Baby Phat to Karl Kani, creative expression through fashion was widely practiced and supported. Among the many brands to leave a dent in Black culture was Cross Colours. Not only was their bright color-blocking aesthetic fueled with political messaging, it was also everything we didn’t know we needed at the time. Carl Jones and TJ Walker founded Cross Colours back in 1989. Their clothing line was a testament to the carefree feeling of the 90’s. Back then, women wore baggy clothes like the men so in some ways, they presented as gender neutral brand. It was a rebellious, fun, colorful way to express yourself and represent the culture, hence their tag line “Clothing without Prejudice”. Cross Colours aimed to have an open dialog on police brutality, drugs, and the educational gap by projecting the positive attributes of black and urban culture. https://www.instagram.com/p/B29oJ_ngIS7/?igshid=15ve8ud4gynva https://www.instagram.com/p/B2otX9ego8S/?igshid=w726t7jcv9ap With such a rich history contributed to the urban community, it is great to see that Cross Colours now has an exhibition at The California African American Museum called, “Cross Colours: Black Fashion in the 20th Century.” The exhibit shows the history of brand from it’s birth in 1989 to current day trends. In an interview with Vogue , Co-curator Tyree Boyd-Pates says the exhibition, “is organized as a visual roadmap of the African America social movements that inspired the brand, both thematically and historically.” He adds, “in particular, it shows how Cross Colours modeled Black pride, community responsibility, and solidarity in the early 1990s.” The messaging of the brand is something that rings very true today. “I can’t believe that the slogan we printed on our T-shirts, ‘Clothing Without Prejudice,’ is something that still needs to be said today,” Jones says. “That was in the ’90s, and I think it’s as relevant today as it was then, maybe even more so.” This exhibition couldn’t have come at a better time. It is a great way of showcasing how fashion can make a statement beyond the clothes you wear. There is a lack of Black designers producing affordable, urban street wear like there was in the 90’s. This exhibition in some ways pays homage to the innovators who used fabric as a way to unite an entire community of people. Personally speaking, I’m jealous of the L.A. residents who get to witness the history of Cross Colors at the California African American Museum. From now until March 1, 2020, you can experience the Black Fashion in the 20th Century exhibit. He is also the executive music producer of the upcoming EPIX miniseries “Godfather of Harlem,” which is about crime monster Bumpy Johnson. The father of stopped by “The Clay Cane Show” on SiriusXM Urban View to talk about the film and how he keeps his kids informed. The 41-year-old began discussing how he handles his son being called the N-word. See Also:  A Timeline Of Dallas Cop Amber Guyger Killing Botham Jean In His Own Home Cane asked the Bronx native, “How do you teach your kids about their, their legacy, their history — so, they’re informed?” Swizz, whose real name is Kasseem Dean, said, “We’re very candid with conversations and different things. They come back from school and bring up different words and different things… My son plays soccer and he goes through this thing where they like to use the N-word with him a lot.” Cane asked if it was Black kids or white kids using the racial slur and Swizz explained it was Mexican kids on his soccer team. He continued, “Before I would’ve been aggressive, I would have had a different outlook. But I just had to tell him, ‘We can’t move forward with using ignorance with ignorance, right?’ If I go up to his game and step to that person’s dad, that doesn’t turn into the right thing.” He then added, “So I just simply tell him, ‘Look man, when people call you those names, it just lets you know who they want to be. They just don’t know how to tell you that you did good today.’ I said, ‘Let people call you whatever they want to call you. They can’t touch you though, but let people call you whatever  they want to call you because that’s just their way of letting you know that they love you. They just can’t express it. Right? And just turn the negativity into your drive and and play a harder game.’ When they come in tell them, ‘You liked the way I won that game today. Right? I know you love me. Don’t worry. I’m gonna beat you again next time.” Listen to the clip below: https://m.soundcloud.com/siriusxm/swizz-beatz-on-his-son-dealing-with-racism Swizz has five sons, four being boys. According KTNV , when two officers, Benjamin Vazquez, 27, and Officer Patrick Campbell, 28, tried to stop him, he took off and eventually began running on foot. The officers were caught him and told Williams to get on the ground. While being cuffed, Williams told the officers he couldn’t breathe. The Las Vegas Sun reports an officer was heard telling him: “Yeah, because you’re tired of (expletive) running.” Williams was allegedly straddled by one of the officers, who had his knee pinned against Williams. “Pressure on your butt, that’s all,” said one of the officers. Williams continues to complain about not being able to breathe. “As they were taking him to the patrol car, Williams appeared to pass out. Officers called for assistance and the Las Vegas fire department arrived several minutes later,” KTNV reports. The 50-year-old later died hospital. #NYFWNOIR: Maki Oh Continues To Define Afromodernism To The West

Source: Danielle James / Hello Beautiful On Monday evening in Union Square, Maki Oh founder and designer, Amaka Osakwe presented her collection to a crowd full of editors, fans, and supporters. The show was a pan-African experience with guests represented from all over the world. I had the pleasure of going backstage before the show and it was a very hectic, sometimes tense, yet overall organized feel. The presentation itself was a beautiful illustration of Afromodern fashion. Source: Yuchen Liao / Getty The Lagos born designer continues to show that African designs are more than Dutch wax and animal print. The models varied in height, sizes, and age, illustrating that the clothes are created for a wide range of women (and men). who want thoughtful style. I loved the gender fluidity that wasn’t purposefully called out, but rather, just represented naturally. Source: Yuchen Liao / Getty I swooned over the pearl embellishments decorating a khaki colored blazer as well as on the hem of a black dress to update your LBD style. Source: Yuchen Liao / Getty Maki uses traditional West African techniques with modern silhouettes to create a head turning collection. Source: Danielle James / Hello Beautiful It’s been awhile since I’ve been to a show where every model loved their hair. Maki Oh utilized fabrics from her latest collection to intertwine them into one long braided ponytail for a statement look. Unlike her counterpart, Christian Siriano , this was truly a way to pay tribute to the culture and Black women who started the trend. The collection felt like a perfect fusion of West African fashion meeting European silhouettes and trends. On the cusp of the 10 year anniversary of Maki Oh, this collection was strong, relatable, and most importantly sellable. As fashion continues to evolve and consumers want more of a global feel, Maki Oh is providing prints and looks that won’t go out of fashion for years to come.
