From Baby Phat to Karl Kani, creative expression through fashion was widely practiced and supported. Among the many brands to leave a dent in Black culture was Cross Colours. Not only was their bright color-blocking aesthetic fueled with political messaging, it was also everything we didn’t know we needed at the time. Carl Jones and TJ Walker founded Cross Colours back in 1989. Their clothing line was a testament to the carefree feeling of the 90’s. Back then, women wore baggy clothes like the men so in some ways, they presented as gender neutral brand. It was a rebellious, fun, colorful way to express yourself and represent the culture, hence their tag line “Clothing without Prejudice”. Cross Colours aimed to have an open dialog on police brutality, drugs, and the educational gap by projecting the positive attributes of black and urban culture. https://www.instagram.com/p/B29oJ_ngIS7/?igshid=15ve8ud4gynva https://www.instagram.com/p/B2otX9ego8S/?igshid=w726t7jcv9ap With such a rich history contributed to the urban community, it is great to see that Cross Colours now has an exhibition at The California African American Museum called, “Cross Colours: Black Fashion in the 20th Century.” The exhibit shows the history of brand from it’s birth in 1989 to current day trends. In an interview with Vogue , Co-curator Tyree Boyd-Pates says the exhibition, “is organized as a visual roadmap of the African America social movements that inspired the brand, both thematically and historically.” He adds, “in particular, it shows how Cross Colours modeled Black pride, community responsibility, and solidarity in the early 1990s.” The messaging of the brand is something that rings very true today. “I can’t believe that the slogan we printed on our T-shirts, ‘Clothing Without Prejudice,’ is something that still needs to be said today,” Jones says. “That was in the ’90s, and I think it’s as relevant today as it was then, maybe even more so.” This exhibition couldn’t have come at a better time. It is a great way of showcasing how fashion can make a statement beyond the clothes you wear. There is a lack of Black designers producing affordable, urban street wear like there was in the 90’s. This exhibition in some ways pays homage to the innovators who used fabric as a way to unite an entire community of people. Personally speaking, I’m jealous of the L.A. residents who get to witness the history of Cross Colors at the California African American Museum. From now until March 1, 2020, you can experience the Black Fashion in the 20th Century exhibit. Katrina Pierson Thinks Trump Isn’t Racist Because No Black People Worked In Lincoln’s White House

More here:

E ver since Michael Cohen reminded us at his hearing that President Trump is a stone-cold racist, the White House has been throwing out all of their sunken place loyalists. Now, a Trump adviser has become the latest one to embarrasses herself on national television. See Also: While The Government Is Shut Down, Ben Carson’s Incompetence Threatens Poor Families’ Housing While talking to Rev. Al Sharpton on MSNBC over the weekend, Katrina Pierson was asked how many African-Americans worked in the West Wing. Pierson stumbled answering the question before offering up this gem she dug up from the sunken place. “I’m not going to participate in the attempt to make this all about race. It is ridiculous. How many black people were in Abraham Lincoln’s West Wing?” she asked. “Is Abraham Lincoln a racist because he didn’t have a black person in his White House? This is insane. This is an insane discussion.” Looking shocked at the worst rebuttal ever, Sharpton looked back to 1861 before the Civil War. “First of all, if you need to go back to Lincoln… You can’t name a Black in the West Wing because we can’t find one, Katrina, I pity you,” Sharpton clapped back. “I’d sympathize with you, but telling me you applied, and other people? Come on. It’s unthinkable in the 21st century that even a spokesperson for President Trump can’t name a black in the West Wing.” She then randomly brought up Will Smith and identity politics. Watch below, which starts at the 32:00 mark: Pierson, who has been serving as a senior adviser to Trump’s 2020 campaign, was one of the president’s most ardent Black voices when he first ran for the White House, defending her boss against opponents (Democrats and Republicans) on cable news stations. Her shady past  certainly didn’t help her image of being either uninformed or a bald-faced liar (or both). For example, she bizarrely blamed President  Barack Obama  for  starting the war  in Afghanistan. Obama, however, was a state senator at the time that war began. She also  disrespected Obama  by referring to him as the “head Negro in charge.” This is also the same person who said slavery was “good history.” Welcome to the trash of the 2020 campaign . It’s going to be an ugly one. SEE ALSO: If The Innovators Of New Jack Swing Aren’t Mad At Bruno Mars, Why Are Millennials? Standing By Massa! Pam Anderson Flashing Her Ass of the Day

I don’t know if seeing Pam Anderson’s ass decades after really wanting to see Pam Anderson’s ass, even though we saw Pam Anderson’s ass before we even knew who Pam Anderson was…because the whole Pam Anderson strategy was getting famous for getting naked…one of the innovators in the 90s that encouraged girls to get shitty fake tits and dye jobs, because it was what guys liked and it worked for her…something girls today still fucking do, which kind of amazes me since it’s such a trashy and dated look…. But I guess she’s a legend and as a legend, a pro, an expert at this nudity thing, it is part of who she is and she should be showing off her ass until the day she dies even though no one really wants to touch it – thanks the the Hepatitis…except maybe the guy who was in Paris Hilton’s sex tape who I guess she met at a sex tape convention…and married a few times… I guess the sick thing in all this is that I like it. Pam Anderson Nude in Purple of the Day

Pam Anderson got naked for Purple magazine, which you’d probably find gross knowing she’s 90 or at least that her ravaged by dirty sex Liver is, but that for some reason seems less offensive since her tits are around 15. If anything this shit, what you may have thought was hepatitis smelling geriatric porn, from one of the innovators in the celebrity having unprotected sex in sex tape to inspire the youth on how to get a reality show…is underage porn…

Cool Azz Bill Clinton Rocks The DNC: His Speech Was On Point And He Shut Robney And Lyan Down!

Big Bill couldn’t have been any cooler unless he broke out his saxophone after his speech! Our former Pres was calm and collected as he spit fact after fact…checkin’ Robney and Lyan for misleading voter’s with all the isht they’ve been spitting. Here’s an excerpt from President Clinton’s speech: We’re here to nominate a President, and I’ve got one in mind. I want to nominate a man whose own life has known its fair share of adversity and uncertainty. A man who ran for President to change the course of an already weak economy and then just six weeks before the election, saw it suffer the biggest collapse since the Great Depression. A man who stopped the slide into depression and put us on the long road to recovery, knowing all the while that no matter how many jobs were created and saved, there were still millions more waiting, trying to feed their children and keep their hopes alive. I want to nominate a man cool on the outside but burning for America on the inside. A man who believes we can build a new American Dream economy driven by innovation and creativity, education and cooperation. A man who had the good sense to marry Michelle Obama. I want Barack Obama to be the next President of the United States and I proudly nominate him as the standard bearer of the Democratic Party. In Tampa, we heard a lot of talk about how the President and the Democrats don’t believe in free enterprise and individual initiative, how we want everyone to be dependent on the government, how bad we are for the economy. The Republican narrative is that all of us who amount to anything are completely self-made. One of our greatest Democratic Chairmen, Bob Strauss, used to say that every politician wants you to believe he was born in a log cabin he built himself, but it ain’t so. We Democrats think the country works better with a strong middle class, real opportunities for poor people to work their way into it and a relentless focus on the future, with business and government working together to promote growth and broadly shared prosperity. We think “we’re all in this together” is a better philosophy than “you’re on your own.”Though I often disagree with Republicans, I never learned to hate them the way the far right that now controls their party seems to hate President Obama and the Democrats. When times are tough, constant conflict may be good politics but in the real world, cooperation works better. After all, nobody’s right all the time, and a broken clock is right twice a day. All of us are destined to live our lives between those two extremes. Unfortunately, the faction that now dominates the Republican Party doesn’t see it that way. They think government is the enemy, and compromise is weakness. I like the argument for President Obama’s re-election a lot better. He inherited a deeply damaged economy, put a floor under the crash, began the long hard road to recovery, and laid the foundation for a modern, more well-balanced economy that will produce millions of good new jobs, vibrant new businesses, and lots of new wealth for the innovators. Are we where we want to be? No. Is the President satisfied? No. Are we better off than we were when he took office, with an economy in free fall, losing 750,000 jobs a month. The answer is YES. President Obama started with a much weaker economy than I did. No President – not me or any of my predecessors could have repaired all the damage in just four years. But conditions are improving and if you’ll renew the President’s contract you will feel it. I believe that with all my heart. Barack also made a quick appearance out on the stage after Bill wrapped things up and, in case you didn’t know, this is the first time a former President has nominated a President. Period. If this didn’t get you amped up then we don’t know what will. Source Images via Getty
