Well, surprise, surprise… Folks did some digging into one of the organizations, and it seems they don’t fully ride for Black people despite their surface-level charities. Twitter user @RzstProgramming brought up AAALL the receipts. They dug up old tweets and social media posts from Crushers Club and it was revealed that… 1. They have a history of gleefully cutting off Black boys’ dreadlocks. 2. They support Donald Trump helping Chicago with gun violence. 3. They believe “All Lives Matter.” 4. Rutger Hauer, a veteran actor probably best known for his leading role in the 1982 blockbuster Blade Runner, died on July 19 at his home in the Netherlands. He was 75 years old. Hauer’s agent, Steve Kenis, made the news today and added that Hauer’s funeral was held Wednesday. The Dutch actor starred in the aforementioned movie as Harrison Ford’s nemesis, truly putting himself on the Hollywood map with that legendary performance. Hauer’s character delivered a famous speech during a climatic face-off with Ford at the conclusion of Blade Runner, dialogue which he helped write himself, many outlets have since confirmed. “I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe,” he tells Ford, adding in this iconic scene: “Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.” He will also be fondly remembered for having major parts in Batman Begins and Sin City — and he also won a Golden Globe Award for his role in the 1987 TV film Escape from Sobibor. Hauer’s exact cause of death is unknown at the moment, but his agent says the actor passed away after having been diagnosed with some kind of illness. “This is not news, but he was a great guy and a great actor,” Kenis told Fox News this afternoon. On the small screen, Hauer portrayed Niall Brigant on HBO’s True Blood, the king of the tribe from which the Stackhouse family is descended and the faerie grandfather to Sookie, Jason Stackhouse and Hunter Savoy. He also recurred on ABC’s medieval musical comedy Galavant as Kingsley in 2015. Aside from his acting career, Hauer was very active in social causes as an outspoken sponsor of the environmental organization Greenpeace and the founder the Starfish Association, a non-profit devoted to AIDS awareness. In the wake of his passing, there’s been an outpouring of sadness on social media. Tweeted Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro, for example: “RIP the great Rutger Hauer: an intense, deep, genuine and magnetic actor that brought truth, power and beauty to his films.” And Robert Patrick added: “I am so sad to hear this, Rutger was such a sweet human being, and amazing actor! With the help of a group called Ex-Out, the organization set out on a mission to bail out fathers who were jailed for non-violent offenses and have bail amounts that are less than $500. “I understand that there are certain systemic issues that remove these fathers from their households,” Black Father Family founder Ryan Bell said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “I want to do everything I can to possibly give another young Black child the same opportunity that I had to have their father in the house with them.” He said he was inspired by projects led by Jay-Z and the National Bail Out’s #FreeBlackMamas movement . Initiatives like the one being led by Bell’s organization are needed. Black families are disproportionately impacted by mass incarceration. According to a study conducted by Rutgers University, one in nine Black children in the United States have a parent who is incarcerated. It’s a no-fee banking platform that will allow teenagers to manage their accounts and exchange money with their family and friends. Parents have the ability to monitor their child’s spending through the app. The creators of the app wanted to give teens hands-on experience with managing their funds. As technology advances and shapes the way that consumers are spending money, those involved with bringing the app to fruition wanted to ensure that the younger generation is equipped with knowledge about making smart money decisions in a digital age. “Schools don’t teach kids about money,” MacDonald told Tech Crunch in an interview. “We want to be their first bank accounts with spending cards, but we also want to teach financial literacy and responsibility. Banks don’t tailor to this, and we want to be a solution teaching the next generation of adults to be more responsible with money in the cashless era. It was easy with cash to go to the mall but now everyone is using their phone for Uber and more.” Aside from the support of Smith and Nas, the company has been backed by other angel investors and a group of venture capital firms that include Sesame Ventures, Crosslink Capital and the Collaborative Fund. Those investments have garnered the company $22.5 million in funding. Several people are using their platform to spread awareness about the importance of financial literacy among the youth. In March, rapper 21 Savage led a workshop at a Georgia middle school about making informed and effective decisions when it comes to finances. He also joined forces with the nonprofit organizations Juma and Get Schooled for a collaborative effort to provide 150 students in Atlanta with job opportunities and financial literacy workshops.
