So Sad: 19-Year-Old Goes On A Killing Spree Inspired By ‘The Purge’ Movie We can deny the fact that violent films and video games have an impact on our kids, but real life crime proves otherwise. An I ndianapolis teenager named, Jonathan Cruz was recently arrested for 3 counts of murder for the shooting deaths of Billy Boyd and Jay Higginbotham on May 12, and Jose Ruiz on May 15. At only 19 years old, Jonathan went on a killing spree inspired by the movie, ‘The Purge’ which allows all crime to be legal for one night. After murdering three innocent, completely random victims each night of his “purge” Jonathan texted his mom about what he’d done. Upon further investigation, authorities found numerous text messages describing and explaining his three-day killing spree. Ironically, the third Purge movie will be released next month.
