Hailey Glassman vs. Kate Gosselin on this week’s tabloids

The tabloids this week are all about Robert Pattinson’s love life and Jon and Kate Gosselin’s messy divorce. Both In Touch and Star have Kate Gosselin and her estranged husband’s new girlfriend, Hailey Glassman, facing off on their covers. US Weekly takes a different approach on the Gosselin family and shows Kate comforting a child with the title “Kate’s Sad Kids” as if it’s all her fault that their daddy is gone. The subtitle kind of demonizes both of them, though, saying “Shame on the Gosselins! How the kids are suffering as Dad humiliates the family and Mom keeps using them.”

My favorite cover is Star Magazine’s very dramatic “Catfight!” with supposed fighting words from both sides. You just imagine the women spitting these lines out inches away from each other’s faces. “Jon never loved you!” and “You make me sick!”

Star’s teaser article on the site has insider information that’s likely from Jon Gosselin himself, considering that he was seen out at dinner with one of their reporters over the weekend. Hailey supposedly wants to tell Kate that Jon never loved her, while Kate is said to have yelled “You make me sick!” at either Hailey or Jon. I would bet it was just at Jon and they’re spinning it as if she said it to Hailey’s face.

Meow!! The claws are out! Jon Gosselin’s new girlfriend, Hailey Glassman, and Kate, his soon-to-be-ex-wife are at each other’s throats. And Star has all the exclusive catfight details.

Kate’s first reactions on seeing pictures of Jon and Hailey together summed up their feelings for each other, an insider at Jon & Kate Plus 8 network TLC tells Star. “You make me sick!” she screamed. “Kate has no respect for her,” says the insider. “And that’s putting it mildly.”

And the bad feelings are mutual. Hailey — who has known the Gosselins since her plastic surgeon dad performed Kate’s tummy tuck in 2006 — has finally landed Jon after three years of flirting, reveals a friend of hers.

“Kate had been putting Jon down for years. She treated him like a child and tore away at his self-esteem — and it always made Hailey feel so bad for him. The truth is, Jon was looking for a kind word from someone, a little positive attention — and Hailey was glad to give it to him.

“She feels that no one deserves what Jon had to put up with, being married to Kate. In fact, she can’t wait to confront Kate and tell her, ‘Jon never loved you!’ That’s how much animosity there is.”

Meanwhile In Touch has Hailey serving as a new stepmom to Jon’s cute kids, with Kate of course fighting mad. Hailey “can’t wait to be a stepmom” and “thinks the kids will all like her because she’s going to spoil them rotten.”

When Hailey Glassman accepted Jon’s marriage proposal during a romantic trip to the French Riviera in mid-July, she must have known that in addition to becoming his wife, she’ll also instantly become a part-time caretaker of his eight kids. But instead of being daunted, Hailey is enthusiastic about the enormous responsibility she’d face raising 8-year-old twins and 5-year-old sextuplets. As the new couple celebrated their engagement with champagne at the V.I.P Room nightclub on July 13, Hailey told Jon, “I can’t wait to be a stepmom!” an onlooker tells In Touch. “She was saying she thinks it will be fun and how much she loves kids, and that she has always wanted a big family.”

According to a friend of the two, Jon and Hailey are looking forward to raising his children together. “Every time one of the kids called him when they were in St. Tropez, Hailey would gaze at Jon lovingly, then ask all about which one had called and what they were up to back home,” says the friend. Hailey may be raring to go, but the friend says that she has unrealistic expectations of her new responsibilities. “She really thinks being a stepmom will be great and she won’t have to discipline the kids,” the friend explains. “She sees her role as a fun, cool big sister. She thinks the kids will all like her because she’s going to spoil them rotten.” Hailey’s enthusiasm is certainly admirable, but she’s forgetting that there’s another important person she’ll have to deal with — Jon’s livid, soon-to-be ex-wife Kate. Since Jon got engaged, Kate has been “crying herself to sleep,” an insider says. “When she found out what Jon had done, she saw it as the ultimate betrayal. It was like a knife in her back.” Kate will not let Hailey — who has been arrested and has a reputation as a wild party girl — just waltz into her children’s lives, especially since she’s barely even speaking to Jon.

It seems pretty easy to get information on these two because they’re more than willing to give interviews and quotes to the tabloids. Hailey told People that Jon likes her because she doesn’t control him and I would bet that she’s blabbing to In Touch that she’s ready to be the cool mommy Kate’s kids never had. This has got to make Kate’s blood boil, and that makes for good tabloid fodder. I think the tabloids are missing the boat by forgetting all the partying pictures we’ve seen of Hailey, though. They should give Kate some kind of smug victory over her husband for picking a woman with such a well documented sordid past.

Thanks to CoverAwards for these tabloid covers.
