Spielberg, Hanks, Hefner help Hollywood

Hollywood Sign Hollywood stalwart Tom Hanks , uber Producer-Director Steven Spielberg and Playboy father Hugh Hefner were among those who donated money for the land purchase in connection with the preservation of the world famouse HOLLYWOOD sign.  Hefner reportedly donated the final $900,000 required by the conservation group. In s statement, Hefner said, “”My childhood dreams and fantasies came from the movies, and the images created in Hollywood had a major influence on my life and Playboy.” He referred to the cultural landmark as “Hollywood’s Eiffel Tower.” The sign is located on the southern side of Mount Lee in Griffith Park, north of the Mulholland Highway and was last restored in 1978.
