Jana Duggar Gets Slammed by Fans: Your Brother Hates Women!

The Duggar family apparently feels like Josh Duggar’s molestation scandal has blown over, folks, because Jed Duggar is running for office . Despite that being a deeply controversial move, his big sister Jana gave him a shout-out and a glowing endorsement. Now, fans are upset with Jana for endorsing someone with upsetting, oppressive platforms like Jed’s. “It was an honor to go to the Arkansas State Capitol today,” Jana’s Instagram post begins. She got “to watch my brother @jed_duggar file as a candidate for House District 89.” “I’m so proud of the man he is,” she gushes. “And,” Jana concludes, “the heart he has for serving the community of Springdale!” “I hope he doesn’t forget that humans, especially women, have rights,” one commenter begins. The comment continues: “Women have the right to many things and he better not take any of it away from them.” “Don’t punch your religious values on people,” the comment concludes. “We don’t want it.” “No offense he’s not going to win,” another follower cautions. “Janna has a better shot at winning than this guy.” “Oh yeah, because he totally understands separation of church and state,” another commenter derides. The follower observes; “He’s been raised to believe nobody other than Christian men have rights.” “And he has no life experience,” that same commenter concludes. Clearly, Jed’s run for office is a disappointment to many fans, and they don’t love Jana endorsing his move. “I’m a Conservative. Pro-Life. Pro Second Amendment. Pro Religious Liberty,” Jed announced alongside his candidacy. The chilling litany of his agenda was enough to alarm plenty of people, even though it is no surprise. He also wrote that he plans to “Combat the Opioid Crisis. Lower Taxes. More Jobs & Growth. Strong Economy.” Jed being 20 years old and lacking any life experience or opinions of his own could really hamper him in any political race. “I’m Jed Duggar. I have grown up in the Springdale area all my life,” he wrote on Instagram. Jed continued: “And as a local small-business owner, I understand the important issues facing the residents and businesses of District 89.” Yes, we’re sure that Jed can relate to all of the other small business owners whose daddies gave them businesses instead of a college education. Clearly, he is hoping that others will overlook his lack of qualifications or experience and simply side with his abhorrent views on human rights. “Northwest Arkansas is the economic engine of our state,” Jed continued. He wrote: our local jobs and state economy depend on elected officials that take a common-sense, business approach to legislative reforms.” “I will fight for sound fiscal policies and tax relief for all Arkansans,” he pledged. It sounds like Jim Bob is angling for a tax break for himself and his fellow millionaires. “I will unequivocally advocate for conservative values,” Jed warned. “I am a Christian and I will stand up for religious liberty,” he emphasized. Religious liberty is a favored euphemism meaning special rights for conservative Christians. At times, laws passed on these grounds directly oppose the rights and beliefs of religious minorities. “:I am pro-life and I will be an advocate for the unborn,” Jed’s grim announcement continued. He continued: “And I will always defend our Second Amendment.” In other words, he’s happy to see people forced to give birth, but once they’re born, it’s basically fine if they die in a hail of bullets. “With your support,” Jed tells his followers. “I will be a strong, conservative voice in Little Rock for District 89.” Some Duggar fans have noted that Jed’s campaign seems to link his address to an apartment. It wouldn’t normally be shocking for a 20-year-old to live on his own, but most 20-year-olds aren’t members of repressive cults. Jim Bob lets his children move out of the house only when married. This seems like a curious exception. Fans believe that Jim Bob wants to make Jed look independent. Who’s going to vote for a man who’s forbidden from having an orgasm? Of course Jana endorsed Jed. Not only did she likely have no choice in the matter, but he’s her brother! The reason that fans were upset is that Jed’s platform just … sucks. The other reason is that Jana endorsing him conflicts with the image of Jana that fans have constructed in their minds. If Jana is really a rebel against the horrible beliefs of her family, she’s really good at hiding it. The “La Llorona” Cast Says She’s Creepy and Real | Extra Butter

This week we sit down with the actors behind the film “The Curse of La Llorona” that claims to bring the iconic legend to life in a terrifying original horror film set in the world kicked off by The Conjuring. The movie takes place in Los Angeles, Calfornia in the 70s and follows Anna Tate-Garcia played by Linda Cardellini. She’s a social worker who is struggling to balance her job and raising her kids because she is still coping with the loss of her husband, a cop who was murdered on the job. Determined to keep up with the responsibilities of her job Anna gets called to the home of Patricia Alvarez played by Patricia Velasquez, and finds her two young sons locked in a closet, she interprets their terrified mother’s desperate efforts to keep them locked away as a dangerous sign of abuse, when in reality she is protecting them from La Llorona, but since Anna is a skeptic she doesn’t believe her and takes her kids away. This sparks a series of events that make a horror film that does its job. Scare the screams out of you. I sat down with Breaking Bad’s Raymond Cruz, Linda Cardellini, and Patricia Valesquez to break down their movie. We talked about balancing acting vs really being scared and Patricia explained that with a movie like this, there is no playing because you’re really scared. Patricia also told me that La Llorona is real, “It’s only La Llorona, she was the biggest one. We really believe in her. Your parents will keep you at home. When it gets dark come in or La Llorona will get you. Listen to your parents of La Llorona will get you!” Raymond chimed in saying Latin kids have a bigger monster to worry about saying, “Nowadays… There’s Trump.” It’s an obvious dig at Donald Trump immigration policy that’s ripping Mexican kids away from their parents and locking them in cages. After that, we kept the politics out of this interview and focused on the scariest movies of all time in which we talked about The Exorcist, Jaws and The Nightmare On Elm Street franchise. Judging from these three films I think that’s the reason why every movie in The Conjuring Universe holds weight because their actors know what it’s like to be scared by a movie. Go see The Curse Of La Llorona hitting theaters everywhere this Friday, it’s definitely worth your money.

Colin Kaepernick Settles Lawsuit Against NFL; How Much Did He Get?

Colin Kaepernick has earned both praise and outrage for his bold, silent protest against the killing of unarmed black men. His protest also ended his NFL career. He has been a free agent since 2016. He sued the NFL for conspiring to keep him off of the field. And now that lawsuit has been settled. Attorneys Mark Geragos and Ben Meiselas released a joint statement on Friday, February 15. “For the past several months, counsel for Mr. Kaepernick and [Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid],” the statement begins. It continues: “have engaged in an ongoing dialogue with representatives of the NFL.” “As a result of those discussions,” the statement reads. “The parties have decided to resolve the pending grievances.” “The resolution of this matter is subject to a confidentiality agreement,” the statement concludes. “So there will be no further comment by any party.” This settlement is a long time coming. As you may recall, Kaepernick filed a grievance agains tthe NFL and its owners in late 2017. He accused them of colluding to keep him off of the field. Kaepernick became “controversial” in 2016 for peacefully kneeling during the anthem as a form of silent protest. But though he was protesting the murders of unarmed black men by police, who then go unpunished, some political forces made him a target. They present him and his protest as anti-American. He accuses the NFL of responding to this controversy by conspiring to sabotage his career. Eric Reid was the first to join Kaepernick’s silent protest. The NFL Player’s Association filed a similar grievance against the NFL in 2018 on Reid’s behalf. “We continuously supported Colin and Eric from the start of their protests,” the NFLPA said Friday in a statement to ESPN. The NFLPA “participated with their lawyers throughout their legal proceedings and were prepared to participate in the upcoming trial.” They did all of this “in pursuit of both truth and justice for what we believe the NFL and its clubs did to them.” “We are glad that Eric has earned a job and a new contract,” the statement concludes. “And we continue to hope that Colin gets his opportunity as well.” Fortunately, Colin Kaepernick’s misfortunes were alleyed. Nike decided to go all in, placing Kaepernick front and center on their campaign in 2018. The controversial move had avowed racists throwing away or destroying their Nike shoes. Just days ago, a store that had removed all Nike products from its shelves closed because of sales losses. Womp womp. Nike, on the other hand, saw massive sales in 2018. Their move not only supported Kaepernick when he needed it, but signaled something very affirming. Ultimately, being progressive was the more profitable move than capitulating to racists. That should be encouragement for all of us. Kaepernick has been a controversial figure for multiple reasons. To racists and others in Donald Trump’s base, he was a target because he’s a black man taking a stand for what he believes in. It’s interesting to note that the people who complain about louder, less convenient protests tend to say “protest like Dr. King would!” Their attempt to weaponize Dr. Martin Luther King is clearly empty words, since Kaepernick’s protest is as silent and peaceful as a living human can be. On the Left, Kaepernick was controversial because he did not vote in the 2016 election. Many find it difficult to imagine how someone could risk (and lose) his career for a political cause, yet refuse to do his civic duty and vote for a better world. Ultimately, though, Kaepernick is a politically significant and widely loved figure. And no, it’s not just because he’s really, really, ridiculously good-looking. It’s also not just because of his skill on the field. Kaepernick and Reid took a stand against white supremacy, against Trump, and against the NFL, which has been characterized as one of the world’s most predatory businesses. It is widely assumed that Kaepernick and Reid have made a substantial amount of money in this secret settlement. If so, good for them. However, it is unlikely that we will ever see confirmation of how much of a payout they received.

Source: NBC / Getty Megyn Kelly Finally Exits NBC With $30 Million Settlement Megyn Kelly is officially no longer an employee of NBC, but she didn’t make her exit without securing a hefty settlement first. NBC announced on Friday that they had finalized the terms of Kelly’s exit, only two short years after she signed a $69 million deal with the network: “The parties have resolved their differences, and Megyn Kelly is no longer an employee,” NBC announced in a statement to the  New York Times . The publication reports that the former host will walk away with a $30 million payout, which is the remainder of her original $69 million contract. Back in January of 2017, the former Fox News anchor signed on to host the  Megyn Kelly Today  show ,  which was canceled  back in October following her controversial comments about blackface. “But what is racist? You truly do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface at Halloween or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween,” Kelly said as she spoke to an all-white panel on her then-morning talk show. “Back when I was a kid, that was OK, as long as you were dressing up as like a character.” Unsurprisingly, Kelly’s ignorance about blackface immediately sparked outrage, prompting her to issue an apology in which she used said ignorance as an excuse. “I realize now that such behavior is indeed wrong, and I am sorry,”  she wrote in an email  to her NBC colleagues at the time. “The history of blackface in our culture is abhorrent; the wounds too deep. I’ve never been a “pc” kind of person — but I understand that we do need to be more sensitive in this day and age. Particularly on race and ethnicity issues which, far from being healed, have been exacerbated in our politics over the past year.” Kelly recently told  TMZ  she would “definitely” be back on TV, but the ratings for The Today Show have only increased since she left–companies might wanna take note.

Carrie Fisher: Billie Lourd Honors Legendary Mom, Two Years Later

The late, great Carrie Fisher died on December 27, 2016. Fans mourned her, but her daughter Billie Lourd misses her most of all. Last year, she mourned and remembered Carrie . This year, she's doing something a little different. Billie Lourd is mourning the loss of her incomparable mother, Carrie Fisher, two years later. In an Instagram video that we have included for you, Billie sings a somber but beautiful tune. In the captions, she provides a little context. “It has been two years since my Momby’s death,” Billie begins. “And,” she admits. “I still don’t know what the “right” thing to do on a death anniversary is.” None of us who have grappled with the sudden loss of a loved one do. “(I’m sure a lot of you feel the same way about your loved ones),” Billie acknowledges. “So,” she writes. “I decided to do something a little vulnerable for me,” “But,” Billie continues, it is “something we both loved to do together – sing.” “This is the piano her father gave her,” she shares. “And this was one of her favorite songs.” Billie says: “And as the song says, 'we must “keep on moving.'” That is a helpful message. “I’ve found that what keeps me moving,” she shares. “Is doing things that make me happy,” She is absolutely right! No one's loved ones would want for them to be miserable on their behalf. Billie has found that she is in better spirits when she is “working hard on the things that I’m passionate about.” Right again. You get into the groove of whatever it is that you do, and you can't help but be a little happier. “And,” Billie writes, she thrives by “surrounding myself with people I love and making them smile.” That should be a very easy task for her. She is a delight. She continues: “I hope this encourages anyone feeling a little low or lost to 'keep on moving.'” “As my Momby once said, “'take your broken heart and turn it into art,'” Billie writes. Carrie very notably said and sang that line at her one-woman show, arguably the only one-woman show ever worth seeing. Billie encourages her fans and followers and fellow mourners to follow that advice: “whatever that art may be for you.” Great, now we're crying. Billie had a larger role in her mother's final Star Wars film. Carrie Fisher's sudden and tragic passing meant complications for filmmakers, who want to honor her legacy while still telling their story. The Last Jedi was also mired in controversy as a divisive film. Though the majority of audiences enjoyed the film, many people felt that it had problems with pacing, worldbuilding, and characterization. Unfortunately, more nuanced criticisms were drowned out by racists and misogynists who have a problem with women and people of color. Those monsters made discussion of the film difficult, and many feel that Carrie herself could have brought fans together. More than anything, people feel that Carrie's legacy deserves better than the controversy and perhaps better than that particular Star Wars film. But this isn't about the fans or about Star Wars , even though both were huge factors in Carrie's life. This is about her daughter. Billie Lourd is a young and dazzling talent, and Carrie was her mother. Is her mother. We all call Carrie Fisher space mom, but that's Billie's reality. Losing her — and losing her grandmother, Debbie Reynolds, the next day — was tragic and traumatic. Words cannot undo this terrible loss for her, but we wish the best for Billie.

Angelina Jolie: I Really May Run for President!

Joe Biden. Bernie Sanders. Kamala Harris. Angelina Jolie?!? In a new interview with BBC Radio 4’s Today program, the ambitious actress admitted that she’s thought about running for President someday, presumably as a Democrat. Before you laugh, it’s worth remembering that Donald Trump is currently President of the United States. It’s true! You can look it up and everything! The morally questionable real estate mogul, who highest previous position was lead star of The Apprentice (a reality show on NBC) was elected leader of the free world in November of 2016. Ever since this depressing shocker transpired, stars such as Kanye West, Dwayne Johnson and Orpah Winfrey have pondered their own run at the White House, basically figuring: Sheesh, if frickin Donald Trump can win… So, why not Jolie? She serves as a special envoy to the United Nations Refugee Agency; has traveled and lived around the world; and seemingly really has dedicated her life to helping the less fortunate. When the aforementioned program’s host, Justin Webb, said he had put her on a list of Democrats who might run in 2020, Jolie laughed and said, “Thank you.” From there, she didn’t exactly dismiss this as a possibility. The actress went on to say she would stay quiet “for now” because she feels she can “get a lot done without a title.” But then she didn’t stay quiet. She started to list her qualifications! “I’m able to work with governments, and I’m also able to work with militaries, and so I sit in a very interesting place of being able to get a lot done without a title and without it being about myself or my policies,” she explained. At one point, Jolie’s shady past may have prevented her from ever reaching the Oval Office. But Trump totally banged a porn star while married and then paid her hush money and no one seems to care. Given that context, would Jolie stealing Brad Pitt from Jennifer Aniston really be an obstacle in a Presidential run? “I don’t know if I’m fit for politics, but then I’ve also joked that I don’t know if I have a skeleton left in my closet,” Jolie told BBC here, adding: “I’m pretty open and out there, and I can take a lot on the chin. So that’s good. But I honestly will do whatever I think can really make change.” And the Winner is? Jolie ended her interview by saying it was important to her that the aforementioned project be global and “help young people in different countries to be connected to each other and to have greater awareness and understanding of the news on an international basis.” So there you have it. Roger Mathews and Jenni Farley: WTH Happened That Night?!?

Roger Mathews and Jenni Farley are very much on the outs. Yes, the Jersey Shore star filed for divorce back in September — but there was sightings of the married couple out and about since then, along with promises from Mathews that he would win her back . But no longer. As documented HERE , Mathews and Farley got into such a heated confrontation last week that police were called to the scene and a restraining order granted against Roger. Mathews then blasted his estranged wife as “hate-filled” and claimed she is keeping him from their kids. But is she, really? And what actually transpired that evening? We have the answers below! 1. The Future is Bleak Mathews and Farley celebrated their three-year wedding anniversary in October, just two months prior to this blowout. How did things go so south so quickly? 2. This is How the Argument Got Started: We had heard for awhile that Farley’s work schedule had long been an issue for Mathews, and that’s what came up again last Thursday night: “Jenni and Roger got into an argument over Jenni working so much,” a Hollywood Life source now says. “They’re both amazing parents, but Roger feels Jenni works a lot. Jenni was supposed to have Meilani and had to work last minute and Roger got angry so they got into an argument over it.” 3. The Police Were Called to Intervene But not by Jenni! This is the main bombshell dropped by Hollywood Life. “Roger called the cops and the cops came and nothing happened so Roger then left the home to do a podcast,” the website alleges. 4. Roger Mathews Has a Podcast?? No, not one of his own. But he appears as a guest sometimes. Just this week, he sat down with MMA star Frankie Edgar for a podcast called Frankie & The 4 F’s. 5. Okay, Whatever. So Then What Happened? “While Roger was out, Jenni then proceeded to get an order of protection against Roger,” this insider continues. “Roger then proceeded to come home. The cops were at the home and Roger could no longer be, so the cops gave him a ride in the back of their car to a friend’s home.” 6. How Did Roger React? Not well! Kim Kardashian: Ready to DIVORCE Kanye Over Drake Beef?!

If you were on Twitter last week, you had a front-row seat for the appalling spectacle of a high-profile, unhinged lunatic railing against his enemies in the kind of tantrum one rarely finds outside of a pre-K classroom. But enough about President Donald John Trump; we’re here to talk about Kanye West’s feud with Drake . Come to think of it, “feud” might not be the right word for this situation, as the altercation was almost entirely one-sided. Kanye attacked his former friend for everything from making jokes about the sneakers he designs to allegedly contacting Kris Jenner on the sly. At one point, Kanye dragged Kylie Jenner’s boyfriend, Travis Scott, into the situation, alleging that Scott and Drake had filled their lyrics with subtle “sneak disses” directed at Kanye. “F–k that sickomode song Family first and always,” Kanye tweeted at one point, referring to a collaboration between Travis and Drake. Kim Kardashian defended her husband at one point, calling him “the most genius person that I know.” But for the most part, she kept her distance from the feud. Now, insiders are claiming that Kim was appalled by her husband’s outburst, and according to one source, she currently feels that “divorce is the only option.” Now, you might think that Kim would be used to Kanye’s outbursts by this point, as Yeezy takes to social media to boast that he’s off his meds about once a month. But this time is different for at least two reasons: For one thing, by dragging Travis into the fray, Kanye involved Kim’s family, and Kim is nothing if not protective of her sisters. (It’s one of those situations where she can talk as much smack as she wants, but outsiders better keep their mouths shut.) On top of that, Kim reportedly feels that by stirring up drama on social media, Kanye is threatening his family’s safety. “The more crap Kanye talks, the more and more Kim feels unsafe,” the source  tells Radar Online. It’s not hard to see why the mother of three might feel this way. After all, it’s only been two years since Kim was robbed at gunpoint in Paris. And just last month, gunmen opened fire at the filming of a Tekashi69 music video , at a time when Kanye was rumored to be on set. Kanye wasn’t actually there at the time, and no one was injured, but we’re sure that this is all much more drama and violence than Kim would prefer in her life. “Kanye continues to throw Kim and her family into the fire and she is constantly getting threats and harassment,” the source continues. “It is just past the point of getting old and Kim is so fed up with all of this.” Obviously, Kim and Kanye divorce rumors are nothing new, but if anything would prompt Kim to pull the plug on her marriage, it would be the feeling that her husband is creating an unsafe environment for their children.
