Carrie Fisher: Billie Lourd Honors Legendary Mom, Two Years Later

The late, great Carrie Fisher died on December 27, 2016. Fans mourned her, but her daughter Billie Lourd misses her most of all. Last year, she mourned and remembered Carrie . This year, she's doing something a little different. Billie Lourd is mourning the loss of her incomparable mother, Carrie Fisher, two years later. In an Instagram video that we have included for you, Billie sings a somber but beautiful tune. In the captions, she provides a little context. “It has been two years since my Momby’s death,” Billie begins. “And,” she admits. “I still don’t know what the “right” thing to do on a death anniversary is.” None of us who have grappled with the sudden loss of a loved one do. “(I’m sure a lot of you feel the same way about your loved ones),” Billie acknowledges. “So,” she writes. “I decided to do something a little vulnerable for me,” “But,” Billie continues, it is “something we both loved to do together – sing.” “This is the piano her father gave her,” she shares. “And this was one of her favorite songs.” Billie says: “And as the song says, 'we must “keep on moving.'” That is a helpful message. “I’ve found that what keeps me moving,” she shares. “Is doing things that make me happy,” She is absolutely right! No one's loved ones would want for them to be miserable on their behalf. Billie has found that she is in better spirits when she is “working hard on the things that I’m passionate about.” Right again. You get into the groove of whatever it is that you do, and you can't help but be a little happier. “And,” Billie writes, she thrives by “surrounding myself with people I love and making them smile.” That should be a very easy task for her. She is a delight. She continues: “I hope this encourages anyone feeling a little low or lost to 'keep on moving.'” “As my Momby once said, “'take your broken heart and turn it into art,'” Billie writes. Carrie very notably said and sang that line at her one-woman show, arguably the only one-woman show ever worth seeing. Billie encourages her fans and followers and fellow mourners to follow that advice: “whatever that art may be for you.” Great, now we're crying. Billie had a larger role in her mother's final Star Wars film. Carrie Fisher's sudden and tragic passing meant complications for filmmakers, who want to honor her legacy while still telling their story. The Last Jedi was also mired in controversy as a divisive film. Though the majority of audiences enjoyed the film, many people felt that it had problems with pacing, worldbuilding, and characterization. Unfortunately, more nuanced criticisms were drowned out by racists and misogynists who have a problem with women and people of color. Those monsters made discussion of the film difficult, and many feel that Carrie herself could have brought fans together. More than anything, people feel that Carrie's legacy deserves better than the controversy and perhaps better than that particular Star Wars film. But this isn't about the fans or about Star Wars , even though both were huge factors in Carrie's life. This is about her daughter. Billie Lourd is a young and dazzling talent, and Carrie was her mother. Is her mother. We all call Carrie Fisher space mom, but that's Billie's reality. Losing her — and losing her grandmother, Debbie Reynolds, the next day — was tragic and traumatic. Words cannot undo this terrible loss for her, but we wish the best for Billie.

Amber Rose: Considering a Breast Reduction, Asks Fans for Feedback!

Amber Rose is known for being body-positive, unashamed about nudity , and for countering slut-shaming with frank discussions about sex and about women’s rights. She’s also known for her modeling work and her incredible body. But Amber Rose took to Instagram to share with followers that she’s seriously considering saying goodbye to part of her legendary figure: her breasts. Amber posted a message to her followers: “I’m thinking about getting a breast reduction this year.” A lot of people get breast reduction procedures, though reasons for them can vary. Amber Rose’s breasts are huge , by any standard, so she really doesn’t have to explain. “My boobs are stupid heavy, my back hurts and I can’t wear cute lil shirts without a grandma bra.” Back pain due to large, cumbersome breasts can be a serious problem, especially over time. That pain is real and it doesn’t get better with age. Wardrobe issues are not at all uncommon for women with large breasts. Many find shopping for shirts difficult, not to mention finding a bra that fits them and looks nice. A lot of larger bras are those beige ones, folks. “I’m really scared of the lollipop scars tho…. any advice?” Lollipop scars, called this for their shape, are scars that follow a straight line up the bottom of the breast and then encircle the entire nipple of both breasts, as this is where the incision is made so that breast tissue can be removed. Cosmetic surgery can often do away with scars, but that means having yet another procedure, and not all scarring can be wiped away. What really matters is being happy after the procedure, and it looks like Amber knows that: “Are there any ladies out there that are much happier even though you have breast reduction scars?” We do hear that they fade over time, but everyone’s skin is different. A lot of women worry about facing rejection if their breasts look disfigured. (Men can be terrible, folks) “And no I don’t have implants so they can’t just cut around the nipples.” Sometimes breast implants can be inserted or removed through a 180 degree incision around the areola, though that’s usually in patients with larger nipples after they’ve given birth. (Someone should tell Rob Kardashian that, since his  revenge porn meltdown  last month betrayed his total ignorance about how nipples naturally change size) Amber Rose really wanted feedback from her followers in ways that many people would not. “Tell me about [your] experiences.” Some celebrities leave their Instagram comments closed as a matter of course. They just want to share photos and their lives but they don’t need to see the hate or a dozen people comment “first!” like this is YouTube in 2008. Amber Rose, however, was literally asking for responses. As you can imagine, the comments that she got were varied. A lot of people expressed sympathy. Some were medical professionals (or, at least, they claimed to be) who warned of things like scarring (though, as we mentioned before, scarring isn’t always permanent). Others had undergone breast reductions or knew people who had. Other celebrities, such as Ariel Winter, have undergone breast reduction surgery to address physical discomfort as well as wardrobe problems. (In Ariel’s case, it was also to reclaim a bit of her identity and to take control of her image) So Amber Rose, if she decides to do this, will be in good company. We’re not saying that crowdsourcing your medical advice is any substitute for consulting with qualified surgeons. But we do think that it’s neat that Amber Rose reached out to her fans  Not just as a treat for some of them, but because she’s using her fame as a resource in a kind of unusual way. We don’t know if she’ll go through with it. Amber Rose would be beautiful with no breasts of any size or no breasts whatsoever. What’s important is what she chooses for herself. Billie Lourd Recalls Final Time She Saw Carrie Fisher

Billie Lourd has given her first interview since she suffered not one, but two unimaginable losses in the span of just over 24 hours last December. First, the young actress said goodbye to her mother, beloved Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher. Then, the very next day, Lourd’s grandmother (and Fisher’s mother), Debbie Reynolds, also passed away. Lourd, best known in the entertainment world for her role on Scream Queens, has commented here and there about the tragic deaths via her Instagram page. But she opens up in major detail for the first time in this Q&A with Town & Country. Speaking to American Horror Story star Sarah Paulson for the latest issue’s cover story, Lourd contrasts life with her organized father against that of her famously chaotic mother. “He gets home at the same time every day, and we eat dinner together, we do homework together, we watch Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and cry, and then go to sleep,” Lourd explained of living with her dad. “At Mom’s it was like, ‘Let’s put Christmas lights in the palm trees at 2 a.m.’ “Do you remember when Sharper Image was 24 hours? We went there all the time, 1 a.m. or 3 a.m., just picking up little trinkets… as if that was what you do!” Both Fisher and Reynolds became household names in the entertainment industry, but Lourd says neither wanted her to follow in their acting footsteps. “I think in a normal family they would have looked at me and been like, ‘Hey, this kid’s a performer.’ But I was so scared. I was embarrassed, honestly,” she tells the publication, adding: “Because they were like, ‘This is going to be a really s–tty lifestyle, and everyone’s going to be scrutinizing you deeply and constantly.’ “My mom wrote five books and a one-woman show; they didn’t want more things for people to be able to Google about me.” Fisher was known for being outspoken. At absolutely all times. Lourd says she was initially turned off by just how honest and raw her mother was – on stage, writing in books or when speaking to reporters – but she eventually came to admire it. Now, Billie says she wants to emuluate Fisher. “Looking back and watching her interviews, I try to model what I do after her. She was so good at it. She would get so annoyed with me if I ever did a fake interview. “She’d say, ‘Tell the real story.'” Billie says she surprised everyone (including herself) with how comfortable she felt on the set of her first film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens – and her family quickly became supportive of her burgeoning career at this small role. “Debbie was still encouraging me to put an act together. Literally three days before she died, she was like, ‘What numbers are you going to put in your act? Who are you going to impersonate?’ “I said, ‘I don’t think people do acts as much anymore,'” “And she came back, ‘That’s why if you do one you’ll be more successful than anyone else. The act is a dying art, and someone needs to revive it.” Elsewhere, Lourd says she’s keeping her mother’s compound (“It’s so magical.”) and that she relied on humor to get her through the hardest week of her life: “If life’s not funny, then it’s just true – and that would be unacceptable,” she says, quoting her mom. “Even when she died, that was what got me through that whole thing. “When Debbie died the next day, I could just picture her saying, ‘Well, she’s upstaging me once again, of course – she had to.” View Slideshow: Carrie Fisher: Mourned, Honored by Hollywood Billie, of course, would give anything to have her loved ones alive and back in her life. But there’s an opportunity now for her to become more independent. “I’ve always kind of lived in their shadows, and now is the first time in my life when I get to own my life and stand on my own,” she says.” “I love being my mother’s daughter, and it’s something I always will be, but now I get to be just Billie.” When was the last time she saw her mom alive? What does she think her mother would say to her now? “The last time I saw her in person, this episode of Scream Queens was on, and it was a big episode for me. “I had tons of scenes, and I was so hard on myself about it – I hated how I looked, hated my performance. I was really frustrated. She told me, ‘Come over right now. I want to watch this with you.’ “And she made me sit down and watch it, and she forced me to see the good parts. She was incredible like that. “But she was really hard on me, saying, ‘Shut up. You’re great in this. Have faith in yourself. Be more confident.'” View Slideshow: Debbie Reynolds: Mourned, Honored by Hollywood In conclusion, Lourd is in as much awe of her late mother’s honesty as any Star Wars fan out there. “It’s good to be authentic, to help other people, but if it’s not helping other people, then don’t do it. “There were a couple incidents I wish she could have kept to herself. But, you know, that was the beauty of her.”

Robert Osborne Dies: Beloved Turner Classic Movies Host Was 84

You may not recognize the name Robert Osborne, but if you’re a fan of the Turner Classic Movies network, you almost certainly recognize his face. For 23 years, Osborn was the face of TCM, the number one cable destination for lovers of Old Hollywood and budding young filmmakers alike. A respected film historian and preservationist, Osborne was hand-selected by Ted Turner when the network launched in 1994. He was on the air to introduce the network’s very first film, Gone With the Wind, on April 14, 1994. “Robert was embraced by devoted fans who saw him as a trusted expert and friend,” TCM general manager Jennifer Dorian said in a statement released moments ago. “His calming presence, gentlemanly style, encyclopedia knowledge of film history, fervent support of film preservation and highly personal interviewing style all combined to make him a truly world-class host.” Dorian added: “Robert’s contributions were fundamental in shaping TCM into what it is today, and we owe him a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.” In addition to his time at TCM, Osborne worked as a columnist for The Hollywood Reporter for several decades. His “Rambling Reporter” column ran in the magazine from 1983 to 2009 and was considered a must-read amongst industry insiders. Tributes to Osborne began pouring in on social media within minutes of the announcement of this death, thus making the beloved TV icon a worldwide trending topic within minutes: “Very sad to hear about Robert Osborne passing. I programmed on TCM with him in 2015 & it was a treat. He couldn’t have been more charming,” tweeted filmmaker Edgar Wright. “Robert Osborne was a class act, a true gentleman & his historical nuggets as TCM host made watching those great old movies even better. RIP,” wrote Larry King. “All of us are better for having known him – I know I am,” said Osborne’s longtime co-star Ben Mankiwiecz. “So saddened by the death of Robert Osborne of @tcm. He helped spark my interest in classic films. He was a special man,” tweeted Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak. One Twitter user suggested perhaps the best method of paying tribute to a man whose life was so fully devoted to the cinema: “I think the best way to honor the life of Robert Osborne is to watch as many classic films as possible. Going to start right now. ” View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2017: In Memoriam

11 Stars Twitter Wants To Protect From 2016

This has been a pretty rough year in terms of losing our icons, and losing them at ages that are far from what one would consider “old.” After losing George Michael, Ricky Harris and Carrie Fisher in a span of days at the tail end of the year, Twitter users are more than disappointed — they are pretty frightened. People started saying that precautions need to be taken to look out for the icons we have left, whose work we’ve grown up with and followed. Here is a list of stars Twitter users said we need to keep a 24/7 eye on as this disappointing year comes to a close. [ madamenoire ] LaTavia Roberson: I Was Dismissed From Destiny’s Child “And It Wasn’t Pretty” It’s been 19 years since four teen girls from Houston, Texas, came together to form Destiny’s Child, and 16 years since original members LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson were replaced by Michelle Williams, and, briefly, Farrah Franklin, but the pain lives on for Roberson. The 35-year-old has spoken about the hurt of being kicked out of one of the highest-selling girl groups of all time on more than one occasion, but this time Roberson is putting all of her thoughts all in one place: A memoir to be released in the spring of 2017. Carrie Fisher Gives Her Vision For Princess Leia In New ‘Star Wars’

Carrie Fisher , aka Princess Leia, came out from under the heavens giving her hilariously light-hearted thoughts on the future of Star Wars and whatever came of Leia and Han Solo. Episode VII writer-apparent, Michael Arndt may want to take a peek at what Her Celestial Highness has to say about the character she first brought to the Galaxies way back in the late ’70s and a tidbit or two on where to go from here. One thing for sure, given the recent sale of Lucasfilm to that big time studio that asks its fans to Wish Upon a Star, Fisher knows her place. “I’m now a Disney Princess,” she said on CBS’ The Talk to laughter from the show’s hosts and the live audience Wednesday. “She’s never been gone. She’s been with me forever.” Arndt may have other ideas, but Fisher apparently sees Leia as married to you-know-who, but she would not be a domestic sort of spouse. “I like the idea of being Mrs. Solo and we just fought and fought and I killed him,” she joked. And perhaps alluding to a raging controversy today right here back on earth, Fisher offered up: “I probably even had an affair with some General.” Fisher and Luke Skywalker co-star Mark Hamill first learned of creator George Lucas’ intent to continue the Star Wars saga last summer after the celluloid siblings had lunch with him. Said Hamill: “…When he said, ‘We decided we’re going to do Episodes VII, VIII , and IX ,’ I was just gobsmacked. ‘What? Are you nuts?!’ [laughs] I can see both sides of it. Because in a way, there was a beginning, a middle, and an end and we all lived happily ever after and that’s the way it should be…” Fisher did not hint at a return on The Talk , but after giving her two-cents on what might come next, she talked about her earthly mother, Debbie Reynolds, who recently was released from a hospital. “She’s fine,” she said, adding some details about some risqué banter she had with her 80 year-old mother after meeting with a doctor. Trailer: Katherine Heigl is Trouble in One for the Money

It’s probably not a good sign when your movie’s release date is rescheduled twice and eventually kicked back to January, the doom-iest movie month. Unfortunately, that’s the case with the new Katherine Heigl joint One for the Money , which is based on Janet Evanovich’s 1994 novel of the same name. Here are some clues: Heigl drives around with a naked old guy, Sherri Shepherd plays a prostitute who snaps, “I’m hungry,” and Debbie Reynolds accidentally shoots a turkey. Prestige!
