One of her closest musical collaborators, Missy Elliott, tweeted , “Aaliyah til this very day u r still in Your own Lane! Ure music is Timeless! We miss u!” Fellow Aaliyah confidant Timbaland offered a simple, “#ripaaliyah miss you babygirl.” Another friend, rapper Q-Tip, couldn’t believe how long it’s been since his compatriot passed. “RIP 2 my girl Aaliyah,” he wrote . “Man seems like yesterday … Aaliyah and I were very close.
