While the United States was spared the brunt of Hurricane Dorian's impact after a close call, the storm brought utter devastation to the Bahamas, which may never fully recover from the impact. As a result, many who were loaded up and ready to assist in the clean-up efforts in Florida (or Alabama, if you went by President Donald John Trump's forecast), decided to set out for the Bahamas instead. Among those who made the trip were several members of the Duggar family, the controversial TLC reality stars turned humanitarians. And while assisting with hurricane relief efforts is generally a rather admirable pursuit, just about every project the Duggars undertake is motivated by their endless pursuit of the almighty dollar. Now, an investigation by some of their critics say their Bahamas trip was no different – and they may have done more harm than good during their time in the ravaged nation. Take a look: 1. The Team Jason, James, John David, and Jana Duggar all made the trip, along with their brother-in-law Austin Forsyth. As you can see, the oft-maligned Jana Duggar didn’t make the cut for the group photo. 2. Odd Woman Out Many fans were upset that the Duggars seemed to be downplaying the contributions of the only female volunteer – especially since this particular female seems to spend all her time supporting her family members while getting none of the attention or credit. But those Jana-related complaints soon gave way to even more troubling concerns. 3. Keeping Mum Typically, something like volunteering as part of a hurricane relief effort is something that the Duggars would go on crowing about for months – admirable, and positive PR for a family that needs it. 4. All Is Not Well But if you follow them on social media, you’ve likely noticed that they’re strangely quiet aboug their time in the Bahamas. It’s like they were never there. Why is this, you ask? 5. Austin Comes Home Joy-Anna Duggar posted this picture to celebrate Austin’s return just a few days after he left for the Bahamas, and as far as we can tell, the trip was never mentioned again by her or anyone else. 6. Helping or Hurting? The reason for this unexpected silence is not that the Duggars decided, for once, to be humble about their “humanitarian” efforts. Well, that was fast! Just last week we reported that several members of the Duggar family had traveled to the Bahamas in order to assist with Hurricane Dorian relief efforts . Now, it seems they either finished the job way ahead of schedule or realized rebuilding a nation is, like, super hard and decided to just pack it in. Look, before you go and flame us in the comments, volunteering is always admirable; we’re sure the Duggars’ hearts were in the right place; and they’re under no obligation to stay until the job is finished, which it may never be. That said, the fans who immediately suspected this was some sort of publicity stunt? Yeah, they may have been onto something. On Monday, Joy-Anna Duggar posted the above photo, in which she can be seen welcoming home her husband, Austin Forsyth. “He’s HOME!” Joy captioned the pic. “Keep praying for [medic corps] and some of my family as they are still working down in Bahamas!” Joy didn’t specify which members of her family are still in the Bahamas. But she did make yet another reference to Medic Corps, an organization that seems to have been founded by the Duggars sometime in the past couple weeks. As we mentioned, many fans have been highly critical of the Duggars’ involvement in the Dorian cleanup . This is primarily due to the fact that the family decided to launch its own non-profit, rather than simply volunteering for the Red Cross, or one of the many other established organizations already assisting in the efforts. As anyone who’s ever worked for one can tell you, a lot of people get very rich from so-called non-profits, and it looks like with Medic Corps., the Duggars are hoping to grab themselves a piece of the disaster relief pie. That’s fine, of course — making money is what the Duggars do best, and lately, it seems they’re more focused than ever on ensuring that their kids and grandkids are provided for long after the spotlight dims and the camera crews go home. But if they thought spending less than a week in a devastated region would be enough to convince fans they’re serious about the welfare of the Bahamas, it seems they were mistaken. Again, we don’t have the full story. Perhaps Austin had a reason to return early, and the other Duggars who made the trip are planning to see this thing through. It’s been barely over a month since Tyler Cameron was spotted on a date with Gigi Hadid , but reports claim that they’re already falling in love . Whatever they may be feeling, things have grown incredibly serious between the pair of hot models. Tyler just jetted across the Atlantic to the Netherlands to accompany Gigi to her grandmother’s funeral. Yolanda Foster’s mother, Ans van den Herik, passed away last month following a very lengthy battle with cancer. That of course makes her Gigi Hadid’s beloved grandmother. Gigi referred to her as Oma. She was heartbroken by her beloved grandmother’s passing. Along with Bella, Anwar, and their mother, she attended the funeral in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. It was a somber event, but it’s good to be surrounded by family and other loved ones as you grieve. Yolanda brought her plus one, Joseph Jingoli. Anwar was also accompanied by his girlfriend, singer Dua Lipa. Though they have only been dating for a matter of weeks, Gigi brought along hunky boyfriend Tyler Cameron. The The Bachelorette alum looked dashing in his black suit as he came to pay his respects to a woman who meant so much to Gigi. He remained by Gigi’s side throughout, giving her emotional support as she said her goodbyes by her grandmother’s casket. Gigi shared the news of her grandmother’s passing on Instagram. “OUR QUEEN ANGEL fought cancer six times in her life with courage, strength, and grace,” Gigi affirmed. She noted that her Oma did so “while being the greatest mother and grandmother.” “She is an honorable guide we will carry with us forever,” Gigi praised. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a close relationship with a grandparent. Those of us lucky enough to have it treasure those memories, always. “We love you more than words,” Gigi’s beautiful Instagram tribute continued. She praised her grandmother as “our beautiful wonderful Oma.” “OMA FOREVER,” Gigi wrote on another post. It’s important to remember that someone’s passing doesn’t mean that you cannot cherish their memory for all time. In another post, Gigi simply wrote: “Rest in Paradise.” Attending a funeral is a big deal. is there a chance that Tyler and Gigi are already way more serious than people realize. People can be divided about funeral invitations and plus ones. Some of us would never in our lives invite someone to attend a funeral with us unless they were a spouse or at least engaged. Most people consider funerals for close friends and for family, not for someone you happen to be dating. However, this doesn’t mean that Gigi and Tyler are rushing into things. Gigi may have asked Tyler along — or he may have volunteered — purely for emotional support. Funerals are complicated. During the viewing beforehand, people sometimes laugh and tell jokes. That happens almost any time save the burial itself. Funerals are for the living, and the living sometimes need a comforting presence who is just there for their sake. As we reported earlier this week, several members of the Duggar family are in the Bahamas assisting in hurricane relief efforts . Sounds admirable enough at first, but like everything the Duggars do, the rescue mission has become a source of controversy. The official Duggar Instagram account (operated by Jim Bob and Michelle) announced the trip by posting the above photo. Their caption read: “John, Jana, Jason, and James took off early this morning with a medical and disaster relief team to the Bahamas to help after the massive devastation from #HurricaneDorian.” The Duggars’ efforts were criticized from the start for two distinct reasons: For one, many questioned the decision to leave Jana Duggar out of the photo, despite the fact that she took part in the trip. That’s upsetting enough. On top of that, the Duggars have been blasted online for their lack of training, as several fans have pointed out that there’s not a rescue professional in the bunch. Moreover, it seems they founded their own rescue organization for the trip – something they’ve called Medic Corp – rather than simply joining up with the Red Cross or another well-established organization. This could be because they feared they’d be turned away for their lack of training and experience. Or it might be because Medic Corp was created with a profit or tax-incentive motive in mind. Either way, it’s troubling. Still, the Duggars deserve credit for their willingness to roll up their sleeves and get to work rebuilding the battered Bahamas. Right? And fans should definitely lay off Anna Duggar for recent, innocent comments she made about their efforts. Anna is pregnant with her sixth child , so she obviously didn’t participate in the rescue effort herself, but she’s been offering words of support on social media. “Keep praying for those that have been affected by this terrible hurricane,” she wrote. She later commented on posts made by her sisters-in-law, writing: “And [pray for] all of the people that have gone down to do relief work!” and “Praying for the group.” All of those comments went mostly unnoticed, of course. When Anna announced her plans to “have a girls night while the guys are away!” however, some of her followers became upset. Yes, apparently, a number of ultra-sensitive Instagram users felt that it was inappropriate of Anna to use the hurricane as an excuse to have fun. We guess we would agree if that’s what she were doing – but she’s not. Would these critics have the same objection to a bunch of military wives getting together while their husbands are overseas? We think not. What’s really going on here is that a lot of folks simply don’t like Anna, ever, because she’s still married to Josh Duggar . Duggar fans and critics alike have long suspected that Jim Bob forces his sons to work for him to maintain a measure of control over them. This time, at least, those sons are going to work for what looks like a good cause. Several of the Duggar men are in the Bahamas, preparing to provide disaster relief after Dorian. But this may be more controversial than intended. Joy-Anna Duggar, fresh off of being shamed for how she holds hands , took to Instagram to give fans a major update. “Austin just arrived down in the Bahamas with @mediccorps,” she revealed. Joy-Anna shared a Mediccorps photo of an array of Duggars. She explained: “They will be some of the first on scene to help with disaster relief after Hurricane Dorian.” You can see their photo below: Joy-Anna then asked a favor of her fans and followers. “Please pray for all of the people who have been affected by this terrible hurricane,” she implored them. “And,” she asked, won’t they please pray also for the “safety for our medic team.” She wants her husband to come home safe, naturally. “To find out how you can pray or support,” Joy-Anna concluded. “Please follow @mediccorps or click on the link in my bio.” So which Duggars headed down south, exactly? Obviously, Austin was one of them. But so were John David, Jason, and James. Interesting enough, it looks like Jana also headed down, though so far it looks like she’s been tasked with taking photos. The Duggars are among familiars faces who aren’t family. Both Lawson and Nathan of Bringing Up Bates are also volunteering with Mediccorps. A lot of fans instantly had questions about what exactly makes these dudes qualified to provide emergency relief. Abbie Duggar is actually a registered nurse, but she did not accompany John David on the flight south. There’s a very good reason for that — she’s pregnant. With a due date this winter, she doesn’t need to be traipsing off to disaster zones, even with the best intentions. We’ll get into the concerns that people have about the people who are going in just a moment. The estimated cost of this “short-term rescue mission” by Mediccorps is about $20,000. In general, people in developing countries benefit less from someone traveling to them than they would if one simply sent them the money for the trip. It’s unclear if that is true for disaster relief or if feet on the ground do more good. Regardless, the Mediccorps site claims that they can provide helicopter rescue and medical transport and deploy first-responders. Above all else, Mediccorps is a devoutly Christian organization and their statements and reading material emphasizing faith in Jesus. People have serious concerns about the Duggar boys not necessarily being prepared to help people in need beyond giving them transportation. (There has been discourse back and forth about who may actually be qualified to provide aid) The family — well, Jim Bob — is also accused of sending them on this trip for publicity for their failing reality careers. Many have concerns that Mediccorp is more interested in preaching to survivors than anything else. For the past 48 hours, Jed Wyatt has been one of the most hated men in America. Those of us who carefully track Bachelorette spoilers may have seen this one coming, but for millions of viewers, the events that unfolded on Tuesday night’s season finale came as an utter shock: Jed proposed to Hannah Brown , she accepted … and then all hell broke loose. Shortly after the engagement, Hannah learned that Jed had a girlfriend waiting at home the entire time he was filming. We’ve since heard both sides of the story — Haley Stevens ‘ seemingly truthful account versus Jed’s stammering, misleading version — and the more we learn, the worse it looks for Mr. Wyatt. Jed undoubtedly digs himself a deeper hole each time he attempts to justify his actions , but as the man said when he elicited coast-to-coast groans by proposing to Hannah in song — words aren’t really his thing. So allow us to try and make a case for the most reviled man in Bachelorette history. (Two important points before we go any further: Yes, at this point, we believe Jed is more hated than Luke P., and no, it’s not easy to defend the type of guy who brings his guitar to house parties.) Let’s begin by breaking down the timeline of events: Jed says he started dating Haley a few weeks before his audition for The Bachelorette . He claims he told her about the audition, but assured her it was just a Hail Mary effort to promote his fledgling music career. Definitely a strange thing to tell someone you recently started dating, but Jed says that as a fellow musician, Haley was very understanding. But several months elapsed between his audition and the time when Jed actually flew out to LA for the show, and during that time, he and Haley began dating more seriously. In fact, they entered a full-blown relationship: She threw him a surprise party for his birthday; her parents bought the two of them a trip to the Bahamas; and in what is perhaps the most damning development of all … Haley and Jed began saying “I love you” to one another. You may be wondering why we’re making the case that Jed and Haley were in a serious relationship when we’re supposed to be defending Jed — but we’re about to pull some Johnnie Cochran jiu-jitsu on your ass and turn this thing on its head: So there’s no denying that Haley and Jed were about as serious as two young people in a four-month relationship can be, right? But here’s the thing — who cares? Now, we know that sounds callous, but the thing about The Bachelor and The Bachelorette is that with all the swanky attire and candlelit dinners where no one ever touches their food, it’s easy to forget that most of the people on your screen are in their early- to mid-twenties. We’re not saying youth is an excuse for unethical behavior, but we are saying that viewers might be more willing to forgive Jed if he and everyone else on the show were dressed like the cast of Jersey Shore . The Bachelorette asks viewers to enter a kind of Fantasy Suite of our own — one where we pretend the whole experiment isn’t ridiculous and that in 2019, the average twenty-something male has a closet full of tailored suits and is in any way prepared to marry a woman he’s known for two months. There’s a reason so few of the relationships created by the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise have resulted in successful marriages: As a social experiment, both shows are inherently ridiculous. Two strangers are plucked from their lives and flown all over the world. One must compete with dozens of suitors, while the other must gradually winnow that group down to one — and then get married to the person who’s left standing. If it weren’t an actual, wildly popular TV series, it would be an episode of Black Mirror . This not how dating is supposed to work, least of all in the year 2019. Now more than ever, leap-frogging into a new relationship and ghosting one’s ex is not considered outlandish behavior. And in the age of Tinder, the line between single and taken gets blurrier all the time. Of the 30 men competing for Hannah’s affection this season, there’s only one that we know for certain wasn’t sleeping with anyone else at the time he was chosen for the show — and his name is Luke P. What we’re saying is — what Jed did was dishonest, shameful, and indicative of a man who could use some serious work in the character department. But was it unforgivable? Well, that’s tough to determine, but as they say — all’s fair in love and war, we know for certain that many have done far, far worse and not suffered nearly as much for their misdeeds. Not only did he lose Hannah, the man’s reputation is thoroughly destroyed, and he can more or less kiss his singing career goodbye. (Of course, based on what we’ve heard of his music, that might not be such a bad thing.) There are some who have defended Jed on the basis that while he was dating Haley, she was vying for Colton Underwood’s affection. But that’s silly. Everyone knows the rules of the game, and Jed’s greatest sin was his dishonesty, not his infidelity. Did he play fair? No. Did he deserve to get dumped on national TV? Absolutely. But is he a manipulative psychopath deserving of an entire nation’s contempt? Nah, that would be Luke P. What in the holy heck is going on at the moment with Teen Mom stars and their family pets?!? As you may know by now, David Eason has admitted to shooting and killing his own dog after the canine allegedly attacked his two-year old daughter, Ensley. Already fired himself by MTV, producers subsequently let wife Jenelle Evans go and now the couple's kids have been taken away by the authorities. This brings us to Mackenzie McKee. The former Teen Mom 3 cast member is in very hot water right now because she left for vacation and seemingly abandoned her poor dog in the process. Where did she leave him? And what did a neighbor do in response? Scroll down to find out. 1. This Sounds Awful. What Happened? McKee and her husband, Josh, are on vacation, as evidenced by the tropical photos (such as the one above) she’s been posting on social media. 2. And What Did They Do with the Dog? They left the canine in a pen in their backyard. 4. That’s It? Yes. This photo was shared on Facebook, but thankfully a neighbor noticed the abusive situation and stepped in — much to McKee’s annoyance! 5.
