SHE TRIED IT: This Cropped Cutie Shows Off The Cuts In Her Hair For Some Summer Inspo

Source: Stephanie Long / Courtesy of Stephanie Long Short hairstyles on women are nothing new, whether it’s Halle Berry or Lupita Nyong’o , Black women are prime examples that we can rock styles at any length. Bria Myles recently traded in long hair for a bald do and it had us thinking about getting a cropped cut! We caught up with CASSIUS Editor, Stephanie Long , who has been rocking a short haircut for about almost a year now. However, this isn’t the first time she’s had short hair. She explained, “In 2009, back when I was still relaxing my hair, I had cut it pretty short a’ la Rihanna in the ‘Take a Bow’ video. Before that, I had the ‘Umbrella’ bob.” Long is one to experiment with her hair and after having “locs for a hot second in 2017 and not really feeling it,” she was “ready to take the plunge.” The change in her tresses led her to feel like she really came into herself and she “felt so beautiful.” She added it was “one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for myself.” Yes, it’s true, short hair is easier to manage. Stephanie shared her routine with Hello Beautiful , “I’m able to just get up in the morning, shower, throw on a cute outfit with some brows and a bold lip and I’m out the door.” She relishes in the thought, “No more wash days, no more pineappling my hair to preserve a twistout, no more hiding from rain or humidity.” If there is one difficult moment, she explained it’s the “awkward stage between really needing a cut and actually getting one is a bit annoying.” Nevertheless, even in her “rough” moments, she still gets tons of compliments on her look. Source: Stephanie Long / Courtesy of Stephanie Long And we can see why! With these fun cuts and ease of being able to switch it up, her cropped cuts are anything but boring. She found a great barber through trial and error, “I did my googles, tried one barber that was okay but that I wasn’t fully satisfied with. Then I kept looking online and eventually found the one I’ve been going to since late September 2018.” For New York girls, she shared the wealth, “His name is Tim Lord and he’s at Adrian Fanus Grooming in Bed-Stuy! I recommend him to any and ALL ladies looking to go low.” Source: Stephanie Long / Courtesy of Stephanie Long While intricate, the hairstyles are easy to maintain, with you needing a cut about once a month. “If I can’t make it that often, I turn to cute caps and head wraps. No biggie.” For maintenance, she sleeps with a satin pillow case or scarf or durag to protect her scalp and hair. She shared, “Shampoo, conditioner and a little bit of oil (I do a mixture of coconut, camellia and brazil nut) is also still very much a thing for me, especially when I’m rocking my little 4C curls.” We love Stephanie’s short haircut! Bruh: Hating Heteros In Boston Pettily Plan ‘Straight Pride’ Parade

Source: DIPTENDU DUTTA / Contributor / Getty Straight Pride Parade Planned In Boston The heterosexual hate is much realer than we thought ouchea. Some straight folks in Boston filed a discrimination complaint against the City of Boston regarding this month’s Gay Pride parade in the city. The hetero haters have also decided to have a pride weekend of their own — a Straight Pride Parade. Carolyn Ryan, Assistant Managing Editor of the New York Times, shared a tweet on Thursday by hetoro hype man Mark Sahady, detailing the upcoming (and idiotic) Boston Straight Pride Parade that’s scheduled to take place in August. Sahady wrote: “We filed a discrimination complaint and it appears that the City of Boston understands they would lose in litigation. The city is now working with us on the parade. We will have the streets closed and be allowed floats and vehicles. The tentative date is 8/31 but will be finalized in the next few weeks.” “Straight Pride” parade planned in Boston. Dapper Dan Addresses Gucci Fiasco & Plans To Help Other Brands With Diversity

Tonight is the fashion reality tv that we’ve been waiting for: the return of Project Runway. Season 17 starts tonight at 8PM and they are coming with some changes that extend beyond just a new network. According to Nina Garcia, Project Runway Judge since Season 1 and Editor In Chief of Elle Magazine , “this is the most inclusive season, it’s the most diverse season we’ve ever had from the judges to the models to the contestants.” Source: Noam Galai / Getty Though Tim Gunn is noticeably absent, they have added former Teen Vogue Editor In Chief, Elaine Welteroth as a judge and Karlie Kloss as the host. What to expect from Welteroth? “I’m fair. I tell it like it is. I’m not afraid to be honest and critical, that’s what we’re there to do. I’m an Editor by nature, by training.” Project Runway has been a platform to introduce up and coming designers to the world and providing them with valuable feedback and skills needed in the retail world. The most successful from the series in undoubtedly Christian Siriano, who won Season 4, and has returned to the show as a judge for Season 17. Siriano promises that the season is going to be “bold, exciting and controversial”. He also added, “I think people are going to be really inspired!” For Season 17, the judges include Nina Garcia, Christian Siriano, Brandon Maxwell, and Elaine Welteroth. Model Karlie Kloss is the Executive Producer and Host of the show, taking over for Tim Gunn. Even though they are judges, they get very invested in the contestants. Welteroth revealed on the carpet, “I fall in love with them and I get a little emotional. We’re really in it. We’re invested in it. We want to see these guys win!” In the age of the Internet, a platform and a little luck, this opportunity can turn a burgeoning fashion designer into a multi-million dollar brand (it happened for Siriano). Welteroth stated, “We want to help cultivate the best next generation of designers and I think there’s a few of them here that will go on to do really amazing things.” Tune into Project Runway Season 17 tonight, March 14th, at 8PM. Bigoted Becky Recently Hired By HuffPost Swiftly Kicked To The Curb After Making Racist Comments On Social Media

Source: Chesnot / Getty HuffPost Fires Racist Social Media Editor A caucasian woman, who’d recently been hired as a social media editor for HuffPost , lost her job after making comments online that were so racist, you almost won’t believe them. On second thought, after considering everything that’s been going on during Black History Month this year, we’re not actually all that surprised. “Yesterday, HuffPost fired a recently hired, Los Angeles-based social media editor after her managers were alerted to the fact that an Instagram account belonging to the new hire was spewing racist rants online. Using a now-deleted Instagram account, Ashley Rose, who was hired earlier this month, targeted a number of people with the sort of racist invective you’d expect to find in the darkest 4chan threads,” The Concourse reports. As for the comments Rose made…they were disgusting. “I don’t dress my son like a thug, sorry. We don’t wear Jordans or Nike in this house because Nike sucks politically, and his father actually fought for this country’s freedom instead of sitting in a jail cell,” she said. “Your nephew is an ugly n***er like you! He looks like Coolio,” another comment read. “Y’all wonder why we stereotype and shoot your ignorant asses,” she continued. See screenshots of her racist rants here . Laura Wagner from The Concourse says she spoke with the young woman on the receiving end of Rose’s comments and apparently Rose was upset because she wants to support black-owned businesses. “I spoke to the woman who runs the Instagram account that Rose targeted,” Wagner stated. “She said it started because she wrote in a post about supporting black-owned businesses. In response, Rose wrote that she would only support white businesses, and from there it escalated.” People can be so ignorant…it’s an absolute shame. But the good news is, HuffPost did the right thing and let her go. Bye, girl!

Elle Fanning In A Weird Photoshoot For Vanity Fair

I have no clue what this weird Vanity Fair shoot was trying to accomplish. They did forget to whiten Elle Fanning ‘s teeth. I’m not sure how that got by the editor, but someone needs to get fired for that. You’d think with all the whitening products being advertised on Instagram, Elle would have gotten a few samples. Anyway, she is still cute, so that’s good. » view all 12 photos

Community Calls For Boycot After Virginia Newspaper Runs A KKK Recruitment Ad On Their Front Page

(DAVID MAXWELL/AFP/Getty Images) Newspaper Gets Backlash After Running Front-Page Ad For KKK What in the Yakubian world is going on in Virginia ? The Westmoreland News is facing major backlash after they recently ran a recruitment ad for the Ku Klux Klan on its front page. This completely blatant advertisement is complete with disgusting statements like “Wake up White America! Stop allowing these third world savages to walk all over YOUR people!” and the telephone number to a national KKK hotline. Westmoreland News in Virginia ( @TheWN ) featured this #racist ad on their front page today. In 2018. In America. This is unacceptable and should enrage every decent human. #racists #racism #WhiteSupremacy #FightRacism pic.twitter.com/vBTZ7BzThw — Jennifer Knecht (@_jenniferknecht) April 26, 2018 Black residents only make up about 15% of the town’s population–go figure–and are obviously appalled at the publication’s decision to run such an ad. Colonial Beach resident Betty Tate Thompson said about the incident on   WTVR , “They posted the whole flyer as if they were giving them free advertising. It even had the number on flyer to contact the head of the KKK. Which I thought was totally ridiculous.” Police Chief Danny Plott, who alerted the paper about the ads, told the station that after speaking to the editor of the paper,   Brittlynn Powell, she “explained that she wanted to put it in to show people that those of us in Colonial Beach who may think there’s not racism … I think she didn’t expect for this to blow up the way it did.” Sure, seems legit…. Newsweek  has reported that there are multiple calls for boycotts on the paper’s  Facebook page , saying that the story was essentially free advertising for the hate group.

Naomi Campbell Closes Out The Dolce And Gabbana Alta Moda Show Like A True Fashion Queen

Originally posted here:

Naomi Campbell closed out the Dolce and Gabbana Alta Moda show in New York City like the fashion legend that she is. The 47-year-old supermodel wore (fittingly) a crown and posted a picture of her getting ready for the big moment. The runway queen elegantly walked down the stairs with grace and class. The model behind her looked kinda nervous; however, Campbell showed us how to work a runway and a crowd. Naomi Campbell posted a photo with the designers at the fitting. The British model is has continued to make major waves in the fashion industry throughout her lengthy career. She’s a Contributing Editor for British Vogue (appointed by Edward Enninful ), recently was at Arise Fashion Week, and more. All the more reason for her to be receiving the CFDA Fashion Icon Award this year. We love to see her breaking age barriers and slaying. Go Queen! Oye! WTF, Cabron?! Albuquerque Newspaper Prints Racist Cartoon Targeting Latinxs And Dreamers

Image via Drew Angerer/Getty Albuquerque Journal Publishes Racist Cartoon Against Dreamers Every single time a corporate organization makes a colossal racially insensitive blunder we always ask ourselves the same question: Was there NOBODY of color in the room to raise their hand and to object to such obvious stupidity??? Sadly, the answer is almost ALWAYS a resounding “no”, many times these decisions are made without the input of the potentially offended party. That seems to be what happened at the Albuquerque Journal when the green-lit the following political cartoon: DACA, Dreamers, Illegal, Immigration, Trump, Delonas, Sean, Cartoon, pic.twitter.com/X4NrNTeBLR — sean delonas (@seandelonas) February 4, 2018 New Mexico is a state full of latinx and hispanic people and a great deal of them were deeply offended at the depiction of the DREAMERS as MS-13 gang members who are coming to pillage the country. In fact, 50 people showed up outside of the newspaper’s offices to protest. That lead to this according to ABQJournal : Journal Editor Karen Moses issued an apology Thursday morning and later said in an interview that there will be more scrutiny of editorial cartoons in the future. “Looking back, we erred, and it should not have appeared in the Albuquerque Journal,” Moses said of the syndicated cartoon.
