Now, for the first time, ’80s TV icon Kirk Cameron is speaking publicly about his former co-star — and sending prayers for his safe return. “I am praying for his family during this time of distress and for his safe return,” Cameron said in a statement issued Monday. “Andrew, if you’re reading this, please call me.” Koenig, now 41 years old, starred as Richard “Boner” Stabone in 25 episodes of the hit 1985-1992 show. He has been missing since February 14, when he was last seen in Vancouver while visiting friends. After he missed a February 16 flight back home to California, friends and family — including his father, “Star Trek” legend Walter Koenig — became concerned. To further complicate matters, it was revealed on Sunday that the actor’s loved ones believe he may have been suffering from depression before he vanished — and that he mailed a “despondent” note to his father shortly before he went missing. Cameron, the former heartthrob coverboy who is now a prominent spokesman for the Christian faith, played Koenig’s neighbor Mike Seaver on “Growing Pains” as the duo depicted a pair of now-classic characters who always had a scheme in mind. “Mike and Boner could always work things out when they put their minds to it,” Cameron said in his statement. “I’m praying for you, pal. Hope to hear from you soon.”
