By Jocelyn Vena Miley Cyrus on “Good Morning America” on Monday Photo: ABC Miley Cyrus stopped by “Good Morning America” on Monday (March 22) to promote her new movie, “The Last Song,” opening March 31. And the conversation inevitably turned to her off-screen relationship with co-star Liam Hemsworth . “It was really good [working with Liam], because it makes you want to come to work and … look good,” said Cyrus, who was dressed in a sparkly blouse, tights and shorts. “I’m trying to make people see my work as a real actress and more mature. And when you have someone who loves you and wants you to do well, you really want to help each other, and you want to make each other look good. We both were trying to get our point across [that] we can do more than [what people know us as].” While filming the movie, Cyrus found a very unique way of keeping herself entertained, and that included paying off co-star Bobby Coleman, who plays her younger brother. “He is probably one of the most hysterical kids I’ve met in my life,” she said. “This kid will do anything for five bucks. By the end he literally had a receipt for me. It was like $80. I paid him 10 bucks to go ask Liam if he liked me. I sent him back and forth. It was really funny.” Cyrus also praised her onscreen dad, Greg Kinnear, for keeping the tone on the set light and fun. “He is very laid back, but he’s really funny,” she said. “Mostly, he plays deeper darker roles, and he’s so hilarious. … So many times I felt like I was back on the [‘Hannah Montana’] set with my dad.” “The Last Song” is part of Cyrus’ plan to take on more mature roles, but she said that leaving “Hannah Montana” behind hasn’t been as easy she thought it was going to be. “It’s bittersweet. It’s been kind of hard,” she said. “It’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, I don’t have this to fall back on.’ We’ve been doing this for five years, then we start to think this is our life and to leave this behind is hard. [But we’re] excited to go on to new chapters in our life. It’s given me such a great start.” Are you ready to see Miley Cyrus play a more mature character? Will you miss “Hannah Montana”?
