Wendy Williams Returns to Talk Show, Addresses Health Concerns

Wendy Williams is back… … and better than ever? That was the main topic the talk show host addressed this morning in her return to her self-titled program, following a two-month hiatus from her big purple chair. (Williams had been away due to ongoing health concerns … or due to embarrassment over her husband’s cheating scandal , depending on who you ask.) “Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect when I hit the block today,” Williams said at the top of her program before delving right into her medical woes. “What had happened was we were only supposed to be off two weeks for Christmas vacation. At the end of those weeks, I started to feel thyroid-ish. “They adjusted my meds. If you don’t know about thyroid disease, it’s a life long thing and they are always adjusting stuff. It can really screw you over.” Williams went on to explain that once doctors adjusted her medication, her Graves’ disease became a problem, as did her vertigo. “I can’t even tell you how many doctors I have, but I want to shout out each and everyone of you. Thank you so much,” she said, also giving props to her husband and adding: “We’re spending time as a family, the Hunters. You know, I’m Wendy Hunter. I just wanted to take some time for myself. I am my own best friend. You know that, I’ve told you that forever. “When you get into yourself, you are your own best friend. So I’m at home, I’m taking my thyroid meds, I am meditating. Oh, believe me you, I’m going to the gym seven days a week for two hours a day … “I’m sorry it took me 40 or 50 days. I know it’s been a long time. I’m sorry! I have to say, it’s not going to happen anymore and I feel good!” During her absence, friends such as Nick Cannon and Don Lemon took over a temporary hosts. On February 21, however, exactly two months after her last appearance, the show’s production company vowed that Williams was on her way back, saying in a statement: “Wendy Williams is an incredible talent with the most unique voice in daytime. We can’t wait to welcome her back to her iconic purple chair on the set of her show. “We so appreciate all of the guest hosts and panelists who filled in for Wendy during this time. These people are, and always will be, true family to the show.  “And we want to thank all of the loyal and supportive fans who have been with us for 10 years now.” Williams has battled these medical concerns for years. In March of last year, she told Good Morning America that she needed to take a break at the time because her body was simply a “mess,” adding in this interview: “We, as women, particularly if we have families, you know, we’re taking care of children, we’re taking care of our home, our husbands, we take care of everybody but ourselves. “I’m not doing that anymore, Amy. Wendy first!” We’re not very big fans of Wendy Williams, as documented below. But we certainly do not wish bad health on anything and we’re very glad to see her up, out and getting back to what she’s all about as a talk show host. Black History Month Almost Takes An L While Black Women Continue To Shine: This Week’s Winners & Losers

Source: NurPhoto / Getty Black History Month was sooo close to losing this first full week of February. The racist ridiculousness was something serious.  But as the ancestors said before us, still we rise. Check out the losers for the week below, then hit the next page to find out who helped save what was left of Black History month! Losers People who don’t know what racism is Clearly, racism needs to get more airtime in school classrooms because it seems people still don’t understand the full weight of the phenomenon. The topic received a lot of attention this week starting with Liam Neeson who revealed that he once went looking to kill a “Black bastard” after his friend said she was raped by a Black man. Neeson explained himself on Good Morning America   and how he regretted his feelings at the time. However, he never once said that his actions and sentiments were racist. As a matter of fact, he went on to say “I’m not racist, this was nearly 40 years ago.”   Sorry Liam, that was racist. Find out why here. The non-acknowledgement of racism didn’t stop here, however. The next day, Neeson’s co-star in the movie Widows Michelle Rodriguez had the audacity to defend Neeson by saying: “Dude, have you watched  Widows ? His tongue was so far down  Viola Davis’  throat. You can’t call him a racist ever. Racists don’t make out with the race that they hate, especially in the way he does with his tongue—so deep down her throat. I don’t care how good of an actor you are. It’s all bullsh**. Ignore it. He’s not a racist.”   Father help us. I guess Michelle missed that unit on Black fetishization in her 5th grade history class. And guess what Michelle? It’s all tied to the one big family of… R A C I S M.   And finally, you’d think after think pieces, Twitter rants and Facebook arguments, people would understand that blackface is bad and also has ties to racism , right? Naw. According to a recent YouGov poll , only 58 percent of Americans believe blackface is bad. Meanwhile, Gucci is making blackface sweaters and current Democrat leaders, like Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam , are being pinned for their blackface past. *Sigh* Either  A LOT of teaching needs to be done or people just don’t care. Either way, racism is clearly still alive.

Sorry Liam Neeson, If You’re White, You’re Probably Racist

Source: Splash News / Splash News On this fine Black History Month, Liam Neeson shocked the Internet when he revealed that he once went looking for a “Black bastard” to kill after a close friend of his was raped. Neeson made the confession in an interview with Independent  when he was promoting his new flick Cold Pursuit.  While explaining his character’s need for revenge, Liam described an instance when his friend was raped and she told Liam that a Black man did it. In fits of anger, Neeson said he would roam the streets with a cosh (a bar used as a weapon) looking for the nearest Black man to provoke him: “I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I’d be approached by somebody – I’m ashamed to say that – and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some [Neeson gestures air quotes with his fingers] ‘black bastard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could…kill him.” Many online souls were flabbergasted by Liam’s words. Liam Neeson didn't say he wanted to kill his friend's rapist….which you could chalk up to revenge…..bruh straight up said he wanted to kill any black man…..if you're defending him….you're just as trash as he is…. — Bae Mama (@mc_magic1887) February 4, 2019 Liam Neeson being ready to take any Black life over what one person allegedly did just shows how meaningless and inconsequential black lives are to some. Even him telling the story demonstrates a level of privilege and understating that there may not be repercussions. — Frederick Joseph (@FredTJoseph) February 4, 2019 Yup so Liam Neeson is definitely cancelled. — King K. (@Unkle_K) February 4, 2019   Liam then went on Good Morning America on Tuesday to clarify his story… But he just made things worse.   In his interview with Robin Roberts,  Liam said “There were some nights I went out deliberately into Black areas in the city, looking to be set upon so that I could unleash physical violence.” He continued: “And I did it maybe four or five times, until I caught myself on and it really shocked me, this primal urge I had. It shocked me, and it hurt me. I did seek help. I went to a priest who heard my confession…[I had] two very, very good friends that I talked too, and believe it or not, power walking two hours everyday to get rid of this. I’m not racist, this was nearly 40 years ago.”   Like whaaaa??? First off Liam, you said you deliberately went into Black neighborhoods to take out your anger on any random Black person. This is, in fact, racist. Like…you didn’t go to the nearest Whole Foods in your neighborhood to find a Black person. You specifically went into Black neighborhoods to enact terror. And even if your need for revenge has subsided over the years, you’ve yet to acknowledge that your targeting of Black communities was racist, which proves you still have some racism up in your bones.   Finally… And listen closely… If you’re a White person, you should more readily assume you are racist, rather than believing you’re not. It’s times like these that self-identified “non-racist” White people love to distance themselves from other White people who are blatantly racist, because if there’s one thing that “non-racist” White people H A T E, it’s to be called racist. “I’m not like that horrible Liam Neeson who said he wanted to beat a random Black person,” said your random White neighbor. “I would NEVER say the N-word,” said your White lover. “Liam Neeson is canceled,” said the White head of your marketing team. I get you “non-racist” White person. But what about your racist cousin demanding more police presence in their newly gentrified neighborhood ? What about your racist uncle who bought private prison stock when Trump got elected ? It can be outright dangerous to use Liam’s actions as the sole measuring stick for racism. Wanting to kill a random Black person is the tip of the iceberg and the most primal manifestation of racist attitudes. But the system of racism is inherently violent and White people either participate in it or benefit from it. Racism, and especially anti-Black racism, is a system of power that subjugates Black people in all corners of society, from institutions to your own personal circles. While Liam’s attitude might be an inter-personal manifestation of racism, the wealth gap between races is just one example of institutional racism that White people can benefit from. A 2019 study by the  Institute for Policy reported that the median Black family today owns $3,600, which is just 2% of the wealth median White families own at $146,984. On top of this, median White wealth is continuing to increase, while median Black wealth is on track to reach zero by 2082, according to the report. This major gap is due to years of wealth-stripping practices aimed at Black people in the housing market , prison-police systems and more. Now you’d think with such reports, there’d be complete social media outrage from “non-racist” White people demanding more research on the racial wealth divide, discriminatory practices and the need for reparations . The same criminalization of Black people enacted by Neeson is the same criminalization used to keep Black people out of wealth stability and instead, in prisons and resource-stripped environments. Is this not the groundwork for targeted violence? Are the “non-racist” Whites starting a social media campaign around this? If they’re aware of these issues and do nothing, aren’t they complicit in racism?   Any White person claiming they’re not racist is not beneficial to anti-racist work. In contrast, it might be better for a White person to say “how do I benefit from racism” or “how can I be less racist today?” Part of this can be just doing your research on how systematic racism can be violent  along with searching for the nearest Black person to pummel with a “cosh.” I understand violence is on a spectrum and might require different reactions, but “I’m not racist” attitudes aren’t helping the conversation. Racism is normal. The goal is to make it not normal on all levels.

Cut It: 10 New Lawsuits Filed Against ‘Dancing Doctor’ Who Hit 8-Counts While Making Incisions

Source: Dureuil Philippe / Getty “Dancing Doctor” Sued Again An Atlanta dermatologist is facing 10 new lawsuits from disgruntled patients. Dr. Windell Boutte first made headlines last June when a video was released of her dancing to “Cut It” while performing surgery on a patient. She was then hit with several malpractice lawsuits and agreed to give up her medical license for 2.5 years. WSBTV now reports that 10 new lawsuits have surfaced and a second doctor is now caught up in the case. Licensed anesthesiologist Dr. Roland Pinkney is named in the case after he was seen alongside the dancing doc pointing to an incision area without gloves. According to Pinkney he was shocked to see Dr. Boutte actually make an incision. “It was not supposed to be surgery being performed. When that happened, I said, ‘Back down,’” he said. The patient in that video Latoya Rideau, filed a lawsuit Thursday morning and spoke to WSBTV via an attorney. “I certainly don’t think he gets to pick and choose when he’s a doctor in that procedure, and he certainly shouldn’t have sat back when silent while he was watching all of this going on,” said Rideau’s attorney, Susan Witt. As previously reported Boutte’s patients claimed they suffered infections, disfigurement, even brain damage following procedures. She’s also faced criticism for performing cosmetic procedures such as breast augmentation and butt lifts whole only being a dermatologist. Last year she defended herself on GMA. “I've done nothing wrong.” The “Dancing Doctor” defends her music videos after her medical license gets suspended amid allegations she harmed patients. @SteveOsunsami has the story: pic.twitter.com/QZrZouQ6A5 — Good Morning America (@GMA) June 8, 2018 What should happen to the “dancing doctor” and her alleged anesthesiologist accomplice? Beautiful News! Fifth Third Bank Surprises Single Mom By Paying Off Her $150K Student Loan Debt

Continue reading here:

A single mother recently got the biggest Christmas shock of her life. Last week,  Jasmin Ford , a 30-year-old registered nurse, found out that Fifth Third bank paid off her $150,000 student loan debt. Talk about a Christmas miracle! Jasmine Ford is now free of student debt after @FifthThird paid off $150k for her. Ford is a nurse and has been working two jobs to support herself and pay her loans. https://t.co/drQzRX6xR5 pic.twitter.com/ThxbuEspA8 — ABC 22/FOX 45 Dayton (@ABC22FOX45) December 13, 2018 “I still can’t find the words,” Ford told Good Morning America last Thursday, adding, “I’m off work again today and I’m just sort of pacing around and restless because I know my life is going to change.” GMA reported that the Chicago native was the first in her family to graduate from college, receiving a Master’s Degree in nursing. She found herself having to pay for school on her own, using student loans to help pay for tuition, rent, food and her other bills. Like many of us, Ford admitted that she never thought she would be able to pay off these loans down in her lifetime. “I could not foresee when I’d be able to pay it off,” Ford said of her debt. “I just knew this was going to be a part of my life as long as I was alive unless there was some significant change, which — wow.” According to WLS News , Fifth Third bank became aware of Ford, who is a customer, while they were working on a promotional video about student loan debt. Bank officials said they later “chose to pay off her student loans because she exemplified the impact that loans can have on a family trying to achieve.” Because of this huge act of kindness, Ford believes this will change her son’s life too, allowing her to be a more present mother. See, she worked two jobs almost every day of the week, something she can now give up. “I just imagine being able to spend more time physically with my family, not having to hustle, having mental freedom and with that, some spiritual freedom,” she told GMA. “I can open myself to more experiences, opportunities and just be able to sit and be with my thoughts and be able to pursue what it is I came to do.” “His life will be totally different,” she added. “I’m so happy and so proud that I’m able to offer that to him more than anything else because he deserves it.” Just amazing. The Bachelor Season 23: When Does It Premiere?

As has been explained and detailed many times over the past few months, Colton Underwood has never been inside a woman. But ABC has now announced the date on which he’ll premiere inside The Bachelor Mansion as the lead star in this ever-popular franchise. The network just confirmed that Season 23 of The Bachelor will kick off on January 7, 2019. The former football player first competed for Becca Kufrin’s heart on Season 14 of The Bachelorette this year — and he later shattered Tia Booth’s heart on Season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise. Underwood has been making his reality show rounds, but, as he’s mentioned on multiple occasions, he’s never gone all around the bases with a woman. We don’t mean to keep hammering this point home, but you better believe ABC will continue to promote Underwood as a virgin all throughout his upcoming season. “I’m very excited,” Underwood said on Good Morning America two months ago, adding: “Third time’s a charm.’ That’s what they say, right? That’s what I’m hoping for.” Colton also seems aware that his selection as the Bachelor wasn’t met with universal praise. Some critics out there think he’s too boring; too vanilla; not horny or lewd enough to be entertaining. He’s aware of what these folks have been saying and he’s trying to stay above it all. “People hate what they don’t understand & try to destroy it,” Underwood Tweeted in early September , adding: “Only try to keep yourself clear and don’t allow that destructive force to spoil something that to you is so simple, natural & beautiful.” You can’t deny that he seems like an incredibly nice guy, but that almost seems to be the problem Bachelor fans have with him. Underwood actually met three of the women competing for his affection when he taped an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show this fall. He told the comedian at the time that he’s looking for someone who is a “good person” and “could be a good mother” one day. Hear that, potential suitors?!? “I feel like I was born to be a dad,” the 26-year old added. “I’m super excited about this.” As for what else Underwood is hoping to find on the show? Other qualification he has for a future wife? Colton sounds open to almost anything or anyone, but did say the following to Ellen: “I like to be challenged in a relationships. “My motto for this season is to live in the moment. I’m going to be present and just enjoy myself and have fun. The other two shows, I had to deal with some situations. Now I just want to relax and have fun.” The question is: Will he fall in love with one women or two ?  View Slideshow: The Bachelor Season 23: Cast Revealed!
