We won’t have the list of the ten actual nominees for a while yet, but on Monday the Academy announced that a total of 248 films are eligible to win the 2010 Best Picture Oscar. That’s down from 274 last year and 281 in 2008. Last year, the first year to feature ten Best Picture nominees, only two of the films nominated ( A Serious Man and Up in the Air ) had nudity. And of the five nominees in 2008, two also had nudity— The Reader and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button . This year, there are two odds-on favorites for the nominations that contain nudity worth talking about. The first is the George Clooney spy thriller The American .
