One of Usher ‘s herpes accusers is reconsidering going forward with her $20 million lawsuit after suddenly ditching her attorney in the case … TMZ has learned. Laura Helm ‘s attorney, Lisa West , filed a motion Thursday to withdraw from the case, saying she could no longer “effectively represent” her client. However, sources connected to Helm tell us what really happened, in plain terms, is Helm fired her lawyer. And the bigger news — we’re told Helm is now uncertain about continuing the legal battle with Usher at all. His attorney has already filed a motion to dismiss the case and for now, Helm has until November 5 to respond. READ MORE

Tom DeLay, Former DWTS Contestant, Sentenced to Prison

As seen below, Tom DeLay did not fare very well on Dancing with the Stars . He did even worse today in a Texas courtroom. The former U.S. House Majority Leader was sentenced to three years in prison, following his conviction in November of charges of conspiracy and money laundering. The allegations stem from DeLay’s role in a 2002 scheme that funneled corporate money to Texas candidates. Tom DeLay on Dancing with the Stars During a statement to the judge prior to sentencing, DeLay reiterated his stance that the prosecution was politically motivated and said he never intended to break the law, sounding less than believable when he concluded: “I can’t be remorseful for something I don’t think I did.” DeLay’s attorney vows to appeal the ruling.

Shawn Christy, the dude who’s been legally ordered to stay away from Sarah Palin, is causing a new wave of concern in Alaska with his planned visit to the state. Christy plans to travel to Wasilla in the hopes of removing a restraining order issued against him last year after Sarah and close friend Kristan Cole obtained it. Palin and Cole proved he sent them threatening emails and letters. According to TMZ, Cole is launching a preemptive strike through the courts in the hopes of blocking Shawn Christy from “dissolving” the restraining order. Cole filed documents explaining how he has continued to harass her and her family in the past few months and why keeping the order in place is needed. Law enforcement sources tell us Shawn, who lives in Pennsylvania, has not been seen in Alaska yet, but has already filed to remove the protective order. Dude, do us all a favor and back off. Regardless of your views on Sarah Palin, let her live her life in peace. Threats and violence get us nowhere as a society. Besides, if you really don’t like her, ignore her. Maybe then she’ll go away. Please?
