Getty Images Philadelphia Redesigns Pride Flag For The Black LGBTs Last week, the city of ‘brotherly love’ unveiled a redesigned Pride flag . Their new and improved version added black and brown stripes to the rainbow, in recognition of LGBTQ people of color. Curbed.com reports that this is just the first visual reminder from city that they include black and brown LGBT member and support all of the community.   Philadelphia expanded the rainbow flag to include two more colors recognizing people of color within the LGBTQ+ community. pic.twitter.com/svIBzyuHvZ — AJ+ (@ajplus) June 14, 2017 The city started a More Color More Pride campaign, which reportedly aims to create an inclusive LGBT community. [The redesigned flag falls in] with Philly’s efforts this year to celebrate the stories of those who have been typically left out of the LGBTQ experience, including people of color and people of the transgender/gender nonconforming experience, the city said in a statement. There have been touchy conversations about inclusiveness in the community among activists of color. People on twitter discussed Philly’s flag decision…and you can see why the inclusiveness is a need. It's a pride flag, not a race flag. Nothing about the rainbow flag has ever represented race. It represents LGBTQ humanness.
