Bishop Eddie Long is back on duty already. After announcing that he was taking a leave from heading New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, Long’s appearance at the Watch Night Service at New Birth seemed to mark his formal return. After a month-long absence, Long first appeared on New Year’s Eve preaching from his pulpit with his usual fiery style, saying: 2012 is here! Shake off the remorse, shake off the depression, shake off the financial burden, start using your hands again and reconstructing! God is more about your future than he was about your past. I’m still your pastor. You’ll still receive my direction. You’ve given me some weeks to take care of some family business. As we previously reported, Long’s wife, Vanessa Long, wife filed for divorce last month. Last fall four young men accused Eddie Long of sexual abuse. Although Long vowed to fight the charges, he later settled the matter out of court for an undisclosed sum of money.
