Source: Kevin Winter/ Getty / Getty Common Reveals He Sought Therapy After Bad Breakups We all know Erykah Badu got that voodoo, but Common is now confessing from his firsthand experience how the singer did major damage to his heart. In a PEOPLE exclusive , the rapper actor revealed his heartbreak after splitting with Badu in 2002: “With Erykah Badu, that was my first love where you’re just open and floating,” he says of the singer he reportedly dated for two years prior to their split in 2002. “When we split, I was 27 or 28. I was in a haze, just going through the motions. It was hard to eat.” Still he says, “It wasn’t her fault, the relationship just didn’t go forward.” Dang son… She left him unable to EAT. Hopefully he was still able to drink tea though, riiiight. Apparently Badu wasn’t the only woman who hurt Common either. “Some of the hardest work I’ve done on myself has been after breakups,” says the star. “I was in another breakup after that that was heavy,” he says without specifying which relationship. “That one honestly is what sent me to therapy.” “Talking about my intimacy avoidance and love addiction was an “aha” moment for me,” he says of traits he’s learned about himself in therapy. “The more you talk, the more you see the patterns you created for yourself.” He adds, “I’m open to a relationship now. I know how to communicate like an adult now. I want to be the best partner I can be.” We’re so glad he sought help. Common’s been linked with a whole lot of famous ladies. In addition to Erykah, he’s also dated Serena Williams , wasw rumored to have dated Regina Hall and Angela Rye.
For some reason, R. Kelly decided it would be a good idea to do a TV interview amid his severe sexual abuse charges. On Tuesday, the singer — who has been accused of partaking in sexual acts with three children older than 13 but younger than 17 — spoke out in his first post-jail interview since turning himself in to Chicago police last month. He opened up to CBS This Morning with Gayle King saying: “They’re going back to the past and they trying to add all of this stuff now to that, to make all of the stuff that’s going on now [feel] real to people. be stupid of him to hold girls against their will. Use your common sense. Forget the blogs, forget how you feel about me. Hate me if you want to; love me if you want. But just use your common sense. Kelly added: “How stupid would it be for me with my crazy past and what I’ve been through? I didn’t do this stuff. This is not me. I’m fighting for my f****** life.” The 52-year old was charged in on Feb. 22 with 10 counts of felony aggravated sexual abuse. If convicted, he faces three to seven years in prison for each count. Check out R. Kelly’s tearful plea above. See the full interview when it airs Wednesday morning on CBS.
Meek Mill has hopped out of jail and back onto the charts full of pent-up opinions on women — none of which he’s hesitating to voice on social media. His latest tirade of displeasure with womankind was targeted at the wig-wearing community…and certainly caused a little uproar since lace fronts are now so popular with ladies of the entertainment community and the common woman looking for a quick protective style/switch-up of their look. Here, the ladies of The Real react to Meek’s musings on women’s hairstyle choices… David Crotty/Patrick McMullan via Getty Images/YouTube
(Johnny Nunez/Getty Images for Remy Martin) Common Lands New TV Deal With Lionsgate Common is continuing on with his many ventures outside of the music world, and this time, his latest move is in the world of TV production. On Friday August 24, Deadline reported that the Chicago native, who has acted in movies including American Gangster and Barbershop 3 , recently signed an overall TV deal with Lionsgate. This deal is one that will see him use his Freedom Road Productions company to “produce and develop” new television series. It seems like Common is really excited for this endeavor, which he spoke on recently. “I’m proud to expand my relationship with the innovative content creator Lionsgate,” Common raved of his new arrangement. “The studio offers a collaborative, creative freedom that is unique in the entertainment industry, which makes them a perfect partner for Freedom Road Productions. I’m looking forward to teaming up with Kevin, Chris and the Lionsgate collective on exciting and fresh television programming.” The rapper, producer, and actor has previously worked with Lionsgate when he appeared in the production company’s films Now You See Me and the third installment of the John Wick franchise. Now, it looks like he’s about to take his partnership with the company to the next level with his very own project to produce. When it comes to acting, Common is known primarily for his roles in movies–but he’s also starred in AMC’s Western drama, Hell on Wheels. He’s certainly a jack of all trades, so it’ll be interesting ot see if this new partnership with Lionsgate will have him stepping in front of the camera for any of his new TV endeavors.
