Crochet Pants And Bad Romance: Common Says Split From Erykah Badu Left Him Heartbroken, Hurt And In A Haze “It Was Hard To Eat”

Source: Kevin Winter/ Getty / Getty Common Reveals He Sought Therapy After Bad Breakups We all know Erykah Badu got that voodoo, but Common is now confessing from his firsthand experience how the singer did major damage to his heart. In a PEOPLE exclusive , the rapper actor revealed his heartbreak after splitting with Badu in 2002: “With Erykah Badu, that was my first love where you’re just open and floating,” he says of the singer he reportedly dated for two years prior to their split in 2002. “When we split, I was 27 or 28. I was in a haze, just going through the motions. It was hard to eat.” Still he says, “It wasn’t her fault, the relationship just didn’t go forward.” Dang son… She left him unable to EAT. Hopefully he was still able to drink tea though, riiiight. Apparently Badu wasn’t the only woman who hurt Common either. “Some of the hardest work I’ve done on myself has been after breakups,” says the star. “I was in another breakup after that that was heavy,” he says without specifying which relationship. “That one honestly is what sent me to therapy.” “Talking about my intimacy avoidance and love addiction was an “aha” moment for me,” he says of traits he’s learned about himself in therapy. “The more you talk, the more you see the patterns you created for yourself.” He adds, “I’m open to a relationship now. I know how to communicate like an adult now. I want to be the best partner I can be.” We’re so glad he sought help. Common’s been linked with a whole lot of famous ladies. In addition to Erykah, he’s also dated Serena Williams , wasw rumored to have dated Regina Hall and Angela Rye.

When your body is all you have you best take care. When your body is all you have you best take care. For the bad weaves and two ways. I swallowed the light…. Threw my earnings like offerings and prayed it went to something that made her feel good. How much of ourselves do we leave at home and how much do we carry with us forever? But I did not sit in the sun. How much of ourselves do we leave at home and how much do we carry with us forever?” In case you didn’t know Black Planet is still alive well and was acquired by our parent company Radio One in 2008. Ankh Explanation: Erykah Badu Explains Her R. Kelly Comments, Fans Still Say ‘See You Next Lifetime’

Source: Ethan Miller/BET/Scott Legato / Contributor / Getty Fair or foul??? Erykah Badu Explains R. Kelly Comments Erykah Badu is explaining comments she made during her Chicago concert. As previously reported Erykah got hit with a barrage of ‘boos when she brought up R. Kelly and said that she was “praying for him” before adding that fans weren’t sending “unconditional love” his way. “I’m sending a prayer right now for R,” said Erykah. “I hope he sees the light of day if he’s done all those things that we’ve seen on TV and heard those ladies talk about,” she continued. “I hope he sees the light of day and comes forward.” “But y’all say f— it! That’s not love. That’s not unconditional love. But what if one of the people that was assaulted by R. Kelly grows up to be an offender themselves. We gonna crucify them? How do we do this? Just something to think about.” Now Erykah’s clarifying her comments and standing by saying that she has “unconditional love” and wants “healing” for him. “That doesn’t mean I support your poor choices,” said the soul songstress. I love you. Unconditionally. That doesn’t mean I support your poor choices. I want healing for you and anyone you have hurt as a result of you being hurt. Is that strange to you ? That’s all I’ve ever said. Anything else has been fabricated or taken out of context. – eb — ErykahBadoula (@fatbellybella) January 21, 2019 Despite her explanation, fans still aren’t buying and are wondering in particular why she’s not sending that same love his alleged victims’ way. my problem is that you have a history of blaming lil girls for the male attraction they receive + you speak about the trauma Kelly faced more than you are affirming of the many young Black girls he continues to victimize — MS. BLISS (@ajthe1ne) January 21, 2019 Reducing decades of abuses and violence to poor choices is where you’re misstepping. Responding to such devastating circumstances requires a great amount of discernment and depth. I see where you’re coming from to an extent, not sure why ur loving on him instead of his prey. — Leather (@BeLeather) January 21, 2019 Do YOU agree with Erykah??? Or will YOU be “seeing her next lifetime”?? Source: Jeff Kravitz / Getty

During her set in Chicago on Saturday, the problematic former fave went on a whole rant about her love for R. Kelly and even went as far as to defend his nasty pedo activities. Mad disrespectful to our city and a shitty use of her platform. Crusty ass bitch. — hot headed yam (@tomapapito) January 20, 2019 This isn’t the first time the singer got dragged for her victim-blaming ways.
