Reports of earthquake have been heard in Hackensack, Manhattan and Brooklyn, as well as Rochester, N.Y., and Erie, Pa. The U.S. Geological Survey said the rare earthquake struck the Ontario-Quebec border region of Canada, just north of Ottawa. The midday quake was felt in the city of Toronto in Canada and in a number of U.S. states, including Michigan, Vermont, New Jersey and New York.
