Bristol Palin: It Was SO Awkward to Meet the Teen Moms!

Bristol Palin was a literal teen mom about 10 years ago. But the daughter of ex-Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin is now a Teen Mom is the more figurative and professional sense, making a living as one of two new cast members on Teen Mom OG. It’s pretty darn weird when you think about it. Or not just when you think about it. When you actually experience it and work alongside Palin, according to Tyler Baltierra . For Bristol, meanwhile, it was pretty darn weird to walk right onto a show that had been airing for seven seasons already — and on which everyone was pretty close and familiar. “I was like, this is their job, they’ve been doing this for so long,” Palin said on Monday’s Teen Mom OG premiere aftershow.. “I hope they like me.” She may have also had this fear because, let’s face it, plenty of people out there do not like Bristol or her famous mother. Bristol and Chyenne Floyd were both added to Teen Mom OG in the wake of Farrah Abraham being let go by MTV. After plenty of back and forth with the controversial star, executives decided in February that it could no longer be associated with someone who did amateur pornography, basically. “We didn’t want to step on toes, I think,” Floyd said of how she and Palin felt upon meeting the other OGs and starting to film by their side. Catelynn Lowell, who also appeared on the after-show, thought back to the first time she met the new cast members, saying on air: “We were doing a promo shoot. I think the production and everything made it was more awkward.” Bristol agreed, chiming in as follows: “So awkward!” And Floyd also agreed! “We hugged, and it was probably the most awkward hug ever. It was so awkward,” she said of meeting Palin. Also awkward for Floyd? Some of the backlash she has received for not actually being a teen mom. Not now. Not ever. (Floyd shares one-year-old daughter Ryder with Cory Wharton; they welcomed their daughter whe Chyenne was 23 years old.) But this is what Chyenne said on the topic last month : “I think that a lot of people are stuck on the word and at the end of the day I’m still young mom. I still have the same struggles and I’m still learning just like everyone else. I don’t think 23 is the ideal age to have a baby. She was unplanned, so in other ways, other than me not being a teen, I have different things that you can relate. “So instead of me screaming all day long that I’m not a teen mom, I’d rather just talk about things that I am.” For a look at how the veteran OGs feel about these newbies, click below: View Slideshow: Teen Mom OGs Dish on Newbies: What Do They Think of Bristol and Cheyenne?

Teen Mom OGs vs. The Newbies: Are They Getting Along?

We just heard what Farrah Abraham thinks of her replacements. In an extended interview, the former Teen Mom OG star has some harsh words for Bristol Palin and Cheyenne Floyd . But Abraham hasn't actually shot any scenes with these Season 8 additions. We don't think she's even met them. Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell and Amber Portwood, on the other hand, have already starting filming upcoming episodes of the MTV hit with Palin and Floyd, meaning they can provide some actual insight into the fresh faces. What has filming been like so far? How do the three OGs feel about the two newbies? Maci, Catelynn and Amber spoke to Us Weekly about Palin and Floyd, giving fans an update on how everything is going on the series, which returns to MTV on Monday, October 1. Check out their quotes below. 1. The OGs Here they are. The core original four: Maci, Farrah, Catelynn and Amber. Three of the four remain, still anchoring this popular series. 2. Farewell, Farrah! Abraham was dismissed by MTV in February of 2018 due to her affiliation with amateur pornography. She sued the network for wrongful termination and eventually settled for an undisclosed amount. 3. But Maci Remains! Originally cast on 16 and Pregnant, Maci has three children and has been married to husband Taylor since 2016. 4. And Amber Remains! She was also a cast member on 16 and Pregnant back in the day and has two children. The new season will chronicle the birth of son James with boyfriend Andrew Glennon. 5. And Catelynn Remains! Catelynn just announced she is pregnant with her third child! The first, she gave up for adoption. The second, she loves a whole lot. All are with husband Tyler, who has supported his wife through her battles with depression and anxiety. 6. Enter Bristol Palin! At one point the most famous actual teen mother in America, she was pregnant with her first child WHILE her mom ran for Vice President of the United States. She now has three kids and is in the midst of a divorce. View Slideshow

Cheyenne Floyd: I’m Not Racist! Please Watch Me on Teen Mom OG!

Like it or not, Cheyenne Floyd has joined the cast of Teen Mom OG. And, as it turns out, most people don’t seem to like it. This is for many reasons. One, Cheyenne is already kind of celebrity from appearing on other MTV reality shows like Are You the One? and The Challenge. Does she really need to be on a third show? Two, she gave birth to her daughter when she was 24 years old, so she is not nor has she ever been a teen mom. And since that’s the title of the show, it seems like one of the most basic requirements for the main cast members. Three, the show is called Teen Mom OG, with the “OG” standing for “Original Girls.” Up until last season, the cast consisted of Amber Portwood, Catelynn Lowell, Maci Bookout, and Farrah Abraham, all girls from the first season of 16 and Pregnant and all girls who have been the Teen Moms from very first episode of the franchise. Sure, Farrah got herself fired , but still, lots of fans thought the show would be just fine going forward with only Maci, Amber, and Catelynn. Adding anyone else would take the OG out of Teen Mom OG, and that’s just not cool. Still, it seems like MTV got super into the five girl format of Teen Mom 2 since Briana joined that show, and so they went and added two new cast members. That’s how we have not only Cheyenne starring on the show when the season premieres on October 1st, but also Bristol Palin . What did we do to deserve this? And on top of all those other reasons why so many people don’t want to see Cheyenne, there’s still a great big one left … Remember those super weird racist tweets of hers ? She posted them several years ago, but they resurfaced earlier this summer when reports began circulating that she’d be joining the show. One from 2011 read “My mom said I can’t see The Help, she knows I already have a problem white people.” Later, she followed that one up with “Last night I saw it and I wanted to kill every white person I saw.” A few months later, she retweeted a friend who wrote that she and another friend “are the only nazi-loving, black power-having, ‘kill-a-white-baby-if-I-could’ people i can accept and adore.” It goes without saying that tweeting about killing people, and specifically babies, is not great, no matter what race these imagined murder victims happen to be. Since MTV hadn’t announced the big news about Cheyenne at that point, there was some speculation that they’d just let her go quietly without having to make a big statement about it. But since they made the news official earlier this month , clearly they’re still going through with it. And now, at long last, Cheyenne is speaking out about those infamous tweets. In a written statement she shared in an Instagram Live post, she explained that “As a mom of a baby, with a biracial Dad and a member of a new blended mix-raced family, I am so sorry that these messages resurfaced and they do not represent me at all.” “They came from a shared social media account (with many users), during my teenage/college years,” she continued. “Although I didn’t write them, they were in poor taste and hurtful.” She finished things out with “Through this experience I have grown up so much and thank God everyday for the woman I am becoming.” So … hmm. It’s kind of hard to imagine a teenage girl sharing a Twitter account with many other people, because who does that? And even if that’s true, her friend still tagged her specifically in the tweet about killing white babies, and by the wording of the tweet, it’s very clear she wasn’t talking about a group of people. It’s also interesting that she kept quiet about the scandal until she officially became a Teen Mom , isn’t it? In another post, Cheyenne wrote “I know I was not a teen mom, as did MTV when the reached out to me.” “As a young mom, I have had to overcome many struggles and face similar issues. It was my hope that my willingness to do the show and share my personal life and struggles could possibly help someone else.” She said that she also wants “to bring awareness to my daughter’s medical condition, which has very little funding and research.” (Her daughter has VLCAD deficiency, a condition that makes her body incapable of breaking down certain fats into energy, and it can be serious.) That’s fine, we guess, but the whole situation is still pretty weird. But, like we said, she’s going to be on the show whether we like it or not. Cheyenne Floyd Begins Filming Teen Mom OG Amidst Castmate Protests

It’s official — Cheyenne Floyd is the latest mother to join the hallowed Teen Mom franchise. And she’s the first to do so without actually being a teen mom! Yes, Cheyenne gave birth to her first child last year at the age of 24. And that’s just one of the reasons that her new co-stars aren’t exactly thrilled with the idea of sharing screen time with Cheyenne. Amber Portwood and other cast members have reportedly been quite vocal in their complaints to producers. Some apparently feel that the show doesn’t need a fifth cast member to replace Farrah Abraham , while others have taken issue with Cheyenne personally, arguing that she’s a bad fit for the series. But whether Amber and company like it or not, producers have already taken steps toward introducing Cheyenne to the Teen Mom fan base: “They started test shooting on Wednesday,” a source close to the show tells Radar Online. But production insiders are careful to note that this is just a test run. Cheyenne has not yet received a dime from the show, and she apparently won’t be paid until producers determine if she’ll be able to “fill the big hole” left by Farrah. We assume the source proceeded to giggle for 20 minutes after mentioning Farrah and hole-filling in the same sentence. “They haven’t been paid yet,” the source confirms. “They have not signed a contract at this time.” And if the rest of the moms get their way, Cheyenne never will sign a contract: “Amber [Portwood] is pissed off about a new cast member,” And apparently, she’s not alone: “They’ve been doing Teen Mom for 10 years and don’t think they like the idea of someone who is a total newbie and has never even been on the show before coming on permanently,” says the insider “They all just think it’s stupid that they’re bringing in people from outside the franchise instead of bringing the [Teen Mom OG] and [Teen Mom 2] casts together.” Since combining two shows into one would likely mean all the payroll expenses and half the ratings, we can see why MTV wouldn’t be thrilled by that suggestion. As for how Farrah feels about her replacement, she gave Radar a typically Farrah-esque response: “I don’t watch the show anymore, as I’ve moved on,” she said. “The show was done when I left.” Thus far, Cheyenne has turned out to be such an unpopular choice that the moms might actually prefer to have Farrah back. Does this mean the Backdoor Teen Mom won in the end? Whatever the case, as you can see in the gallery below, Ms. Floyd is already proving to be a very controversial choice, and her days as a Teen Mom might come to an end before they really begin: View Slideshow: Cheyenne Floyd: Losing Teen Mom OG Gig After Disturbing Tweets Surface?
