Kylie Jenner Feuds with Amandla Steinberg Over Cornrows

Kylie Jenner may be fully dressed (for once!) in a new Instagram photo. But the 17-year old has still managed to stir up controversy with it. Jenner took to her social media site on Saturday morning, snapped a selfie at a photo shoot and wrote as a caption “I woke up like disss.” The problem with the photo, according to at least one celebrity? Kylie is rocking cornrows in it. Wrote Hunger Games actress Amandla Steinberg in response to Kylie’s look: “@novemberskyys when u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans by directing attention towards ur wigs instead of police brutality or racism #whitegirlsdoitbetter.” Kylie’s sister, Kendall Jenner , came under fire in April of 2014 when Marie Claire also dressed the young star in cornrows and described the look as “epic” and “bold,” as if Kendall and that magazine had just invented it.  Marie Claire went on to apologize for the incident. “@amandlastenberg Mad if I don’t, Mad if I do…. Go hang w Jaden or something,” Kylie shot back in response this weekend. Stenberg, of course, took Jenner’s longtime friends and once rumored boy friend, Jaden Smith, to the prom back in May. So there may have been some tension between these two long before Kylie did up her hair in the unique style depicted above. Stenberg, meanwhile, has been critical of other celebrities in a similar regard as she is here. Earlier this year, the young actress took Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry to task for stealing black culture. View Slideshow: Kylie Jenner Instagram Photos: A Racy Rundown

Miss USA 2015: And the Winner Is…

For a couple hours on Sunday night, the Miss USA Pageant was about a handful of beautiful women. And not Donald Trump . The annual ceremony received endless attention in the lead-up to the event, of course, because NBC and Univision both yanked coverage due to Trump’s comments about Mexicans . Multiple hosts, judges and musical acts also pulled out due to Trump being a pompous bigot. But the show did go on in Baton Rouge, with a winner crowned after an evening full of swimsuits, ball gowns and profound answers to dumb questions. And congratulations are in order for Olivia Jordan! The 26-year old Oklahoma native overcame 50 competitors to claim the crown, impressing folks with her views on race relations; on the need for improved dynamics; and her option that Oprah or Harriet Tubman ought to be on the $10 bill . The model and 2013 winner of Miss World America inherits the title from 2014 Miss USA winner Nia Sanchez . Despite the controversy surrounding Miss USA, Jordan was all smiles and screams upon being announced as champion. And Trump? He missed the pageant for a campaign event.
