Source: Taylor Hill / Getty Although the warmer months spell festival season for much of North America, this fall will get some of that action as well. It was just announced that Kendrick Lamar , J. Cole , and Travis Scott will headline the three-day Day N Vegas music festival in November. TMZ reports : Our industry sources tell us, the hip-hop titans have been tabbed to kick off the inaugural 3-day festival dubbed Day N Vegas … and it’s all going down this November in America’s Playground! The new festival is gonna be the place to be this fall because it’s being produced by Goldenvoice … ya know, the people who put on the biggest festivals in the country, like Coachella! We’re told most of the acts will be of the hip-hop variety, with a few R&B stars sprinkled in. Other acts slated to perform are Tyler the Creator, Lil Uzi, Migos, Juice Wrld, School Boy Q, Miguel, Brock Hampton, 6lack, Kali Uchis, Summer Walker, and more. J. Cole gets the party started Friday, Nov. 1 … with Travis Scott taking the stage Saturday night and Kendrick sending Day N Vegas out in style with his Sunday set. With the event many months away, there’s sure to be plenty of big-name additions to the lineup and we’ll bring you those details when they develop. On June 23, 2014, the last episode of The Boondocks  aired on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. Less than two months later…Ferguson happened. The uprising that occurred in the Missouri city showed the outrage people felt after another unarmed Black person, Michael Brown , was killed by the police. This time, however, people were getting organized around the country and the weeks that followed were filled with heated online debates, news coverage and a new awareness of police brutality and Black oppression. Since then, a plethora of movements have followed suit pertaining to women’s rights, LGBTQ rights and more. Tensions probably hit a national peak in 2016 when Donald Trump was elected President of the United States. Could Aaron McGruder , the creator of The Boondocks, have predicted all this? Source: L. Cohen / Getty Now, in 2019, there’s even more to talk about and McGruder might partake with his signature satire in a Boondocks reboot. According to Deadline , Sony announced the reboot at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival on Wednesday. They say the reboot will be a “complete re-imagining” of the previous show and it “chronicles the adventures of the Freeman family against the evil local government tyrant Uncle Ruckus, who rules fictional Woodcrest County, Maryland with an iron fist.” Well…it definitely sounds interesting. With such a grand set-up, the show could be a more serialized comedy with different story arcs that last multiple episodes. But the question remains, what kind of political themes will the show cover, or will it completely abandon the hot button issues the original series was known for tackling? If politics are still the name of the game, hit the flip for six topics the show should revisit to still be relevant in 2019.

Source: Miami Herald / Getty DJ Khaled is supposed to be all about positivity, unless his album doesn’t do no. 1, allegedly. The Miami rapper/DJ/producer/self-promoter is reportedly prepping to sue Billboard  because he really was big mad his Father of Asahd album came in seconds to Tyler, the Creator’s IGOR . Apparently, Khaled feels Billboard didn’t count 100K in sales. Reports Page Six : DJ Khaled is poised to hit the Billboard Chart with a monster lawsuit alleging the organization unfairly disqualified more than 100,000 sales of “Father of Asahd,” robbing him of the No. 1 spot. Khaled was furious when his album came in at No.  2 to Tyler, the Creator’s “IGOR,” after Billboard allegedly discounted downloads sold by the DJ and producer as part of a “bundle deal” with an energy drink. Bundle deals, which offer album downloads alongside merchandise, are a standard but controversial industry practice to boost sales. We’re told Billboard had agreed it would count downloads from Khaled’s energy drink package, which sources in the artist’s camp say amounted to more than 100,000. Billboard later backtracked, disqualifying Khaled’s entire sales from the promotion, arguing there were “anomalies” in his figures. Page Six has exclusively learned that lawyers for Khaled have fired off a letter to Silvio Pietroluongo, SVP of charts and data development at Billboard. Reportedly, Khaled’s team also feels a ways before Tyler, the Creator’s bundles sales were included in his figures. The things is, at this point, it doesn’t matter. If people were/are rocking with Khaled’s new album, they’d be bumping it no matter what, but it seems like that just isn’t the case—no shots.

Dj Khaled is catching heat after a report exposed how allegedly nasty and rude he was towards his label over his flopping album streams. A source says Khaled stormed in Epic records and with his entourage and was “angry” and “yelling” after finding that his recent album failed to debut at the top of the charts. Reportedly he went on an EPIC rant that turned folks off who work for him. Page Six reports:  ‘He threw a temper tantrum,” blaming the also-ran album placing on his label chiefs’ not understanding streaming services and bundle deals. A second source, who also described how the disappointed DJ did not hold back his displeasure, added, “No. 2 won’t do for Khaled. He was not happy when the album didn’t debut at No. 1 . . . Not happy at all.” An industry insider added: “He was furious. There was some nasty stuff said. Publicly, he’s all about ‘positivity,’ but there is a mean side to him that people don’t see . . . He overhyped the record and blew it up as his biggest album ever.” YIKES! Chief Keef Drops $40K on Fine Art of 90’s Cartoon Characters…And Himself

Chief Keef is the proud father of nine children (yes, the same number of members of the Wu-Tang Clan) so it really shouldn’t come as a surprise that he has an expensive art collection… of cartoon characters. TMZ broke the story that the Chicago rapper invested more than $40,000 in 90’s cartoons inspired art to bless his children’s rooms with. According to TMZ Keef reached out to Idiot Box Art owners owners Emily Bright and Tamara Martin this past weekend and wound up with 5 digits worth of art pieces of The Simpsons, Rugrats, Super Mario Bros, and The Smurfs amongst other characters. All the works are made of hand-cut wood, covered with acrylic paint and finished with a coat of resin. The pieces range in size from 2 to 15 feet high. But that’s not all, Chief apparently also commissioned that a few cartoon versions of himself be developed. Why? Because it’s every parents job to embarrass their kids with such things. Check out the video below and don’t knock this aspect of Chief Keef’s parenting skills.
