Artie Lange: Comic Reportedly Near Death Following Latest Relapse

Fans of the comedian Artie Lange know that the former Howard Stern co-host is as well known for his very public struggles with substance abuse as for his razor-sharp wit. In December, Lange tweeted that he was in treatment for his addictions to cocaine and heroin and hoped to be out of treatment and performing again soon. The 50-year-old had tested the limitations of his body over his many years of substance abuse, and fans were stunned to see that his nose had become had become badly misshapen due to decades of snorting various drugs . For several weeks, it looked as though Lange had fully committed himself to the hard work of recovery. He even vowed to do one show a month for which all proceeds would go to toward helping a fellow addict attend rehab. But now, a source close to the comic tells Radar Online that Lange has fallen off the wagon and is currently “in self-destruction mode.” Lange is due in court on January 30 for repeated probation violations. The insider says friends and family worry that he since he knows he’ll be sent to prison or court-ordered rehab, Lange has decided to throw caution to the wind in the weeks between now and then. “He knows he won’t survive drug court, so he’s going to party as much as much as he can until he gets thrown in jail or a year-long rehab,” the source says. “Even his sponsors from The Retreat [Lange’s most recent rehab center] know that he’s partying even though he’s denying it.” The situation has become so dire that Lange’s colleagues have taken to reaching out to him publicly on social media. “Even Richard Lewis reached out to him on Twitter begging him to get clean,” the insider revealed. “You know if Artie is tweeting at 4 a.m. he’s high.” “Artie, this is my 1000th request over decades to beg you to surrender to your addictions,” Lewis tweeted last week, sharing a photo of haggard-looking Lange in a New Jersey courtroom. “We had the most laughs sober. I love you. You’re beloved and a magnificent comedian cursed with self loathing and fear. Give it up and live.” “What Richard said. Come ON, Artie,” echoed comic Patton Oswalt. “Seriously @artiequitter, please, please listen to Richard,” tweeted comedian and actor Brian Posehn. “As a fellow comic, I really don’t want to have to tweet about how f–king funny you were and how sad it is you’re gone any time super soon. We all love you alive, man.” “Wow I just read this article,” Lange tweeted on Sunday in response to the outpouring of concern. “Guys I’m so blown away by this concern for me. I do not deserve it. I promise u I don’t mean any disrespect to u all,” he added. “I want to live. I want to work. I’m so sorry if I cause u to worry. I love u & I hear u. Loud and clear.” We’d like to add our voice to the chorus of concerned well-wishers who hope to enjoy Lange’s work for many years to come. UPDATE: Moments ago, Lange tweeted a response to the latest reports about his condition. “To the insider selling bullshit to Radar on Line. I know who u are,” Lange tweeted. “I won’t do anything in response that would properly show the disappointmentt [sic] I carry but I say “U eat cheese. it’s like u grew up anywhere but North Jersey. I bow my head. I will light a candle. For ur soul.” We’ll have further updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.

Matt Baier and Jennifer Conlon: Wedding Details Revealed!

On November 24th, while most of us were still working on our leftover turkey, Teen Mom “star” and notorious fame-seeker Matt Baier was getting married . We’re still bewildered by the news, but we’ve learned a lot about this random relationship since the nuptuals. And now we know more about the Vegas wedding itself. Matt Baier’s wife, Jennifer Conlon, has already spoken out about him and why they decided to get married:  “When you meet somebody and you have a connection, you know it in your heart.” Thinking with your heart sure will lead you to make some choices , folks. “It’s not something you question. It felt right to us.” Well, that explains their relationship … sort of. But what about marriage? “Getting married is something we wanted. We decided it was time, so he asked me to marry him.” That’s how proposals usually work. “Matt is a wonderful man,” Jennifer Conlon claims. All evidence on Teen Mom to the contrary? “What people think of him and how he’s portrayed, that’s not the man he truly is.” Ah, the ol’ “he’s a totally different person now because I say he is” line. Sure. So, if Matt Baier isn’t what the world has seen him to be, then what exactly is he like? “He is everything and more. He’s generous and loving. It’s unfortunate that people think differently.” Well, if you go on television and portray yourself as a slimy, dishonest guy who seemed to be there for the cameras and not for Amber, how are people supposed to reach different conclusions? “Matt is a good man, yet he gets attacked in a way I don’t understand. That’s not the person in front of me. His actions don’t show that.” So he’s one of those very rare people who are better behaved when they aren’t on camera. Conlon goes on to explain how Matt Baier is magically a better person now. “His past has nothing to do with the relationship.” Uh-huh. “The life we have now is what we have now. Matt is a wonderful partner, friend and someone who listens.” Sure. “I take a person for who they are today and what they do now.” It’s like the old saying goes: those who forget the past live in bliss and never regret it! “He’s my best friend. He loves me for me. We look forward to having a beautiful life together. My life led to finding my soul mate.” All of that … very affectionate nonsense tells you plenty about their relationship, in terms of feelings . But what new information do we now know about their wedding itself? Well, The Ashley reports that Matt Baier and Jennifer Conlon got married in Vegas, which we already knew, because their marriage certificate was registered in Clark County, Nevada. Remember how Matt Baier tried to get Amber Portwood to get married in the Little White Wedding Chapel in Vegas? Well, don’t worry, he didn’t try to repeat this with Jennifer Conlon. These two tied the knot in The Little Neon Chapel. Nothing classes things up like neon! The couple got the “traditional” ceremony (as traditional as you can get in a small room in what’s technically part of a shopping center). That means that they did not have the ceremony officiated by an Elvis impersonator. The best news is that it doesn’t sound like either of their children were forced to bear witness to this … touching moment of genuine affection … as all of the witnesses to their union were unfamiliar names. The Ashley suggests that they were provided by the chapel, and we are inclined to agree. Well, at least Farrah Abraham is happy for Matt Baier , for whatever that’s worth. Though this random union has left us scratching our heads, we’re reminded of one little detail: So, Conlon said that she didn’t watch Matt Baier, implying that his “fame” (is there such a thing as a W-list celebrity? Because that’s Baier) wasn’t what attracted her to him. Yet witnesses have reportedly said that she recognized him from TV when they first met. What if Conlon is running the same game on Baier that he ran on Amber Portwood? Well, part of it — getting famous by association? We’re not accusing her of anything, of course, but we can’t help but wonder. If so, well, Matt Baier might be getting a taste of his own medicine. Artie Lange: Comic Reportedly Near Death Following Years of Addiction

If you’re a fan of Artie Lange, then you probably know the beloved comedian, radio personality, and podcast host isn’t exactly Joe Rogan when it comes to clean living. Lange has struggled with addiction and other health issues for most of his adult life, and he’s been refreshingly candid about the toll that a decades-long cycle of rehab and relapses has taken on his body. Now, following a string of canceled gigs and some troubling tweets, fans are worried that Lange’s years of recklessness may soon cost him his life. The 50-year-old canceled a scheduled appearance on his webseries The Artie & Anthony Show this week, and his explanation has sparked serious concern: “The AA show is the best job! I really have the flu. I got a flu shot! I got the flu. Antibiotics are working &I plan on being in tomm. Anthony & I are good on air,” Lange tweeted “Please stick w us. I will make this work! U fans must feel I’m like a loser cousin u tolerate. Thx for that.” Several followers pointed out that antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections, not viruses like the flu. Still, Lange simply may have been mistaken about what sort of treatment he was receiving. The comic initially seemed optimistic about his condition, but later tweets led fans to the conclusion that his illness is more serious than he let on at first: “Doctor seemed worried. Took blood. I promise if I die it will be on the AA show. Howard used to beg me to agree to this! I refused. This is special. I’m willing to put it in a contract. If u think I’m joking u did not see the look on my Drs face,” Lange tweeted yesterday. He elaborated in a way that did little to assuage his fans’ greatest fears: “Also with regards to my appearance. Fans. Followers. (whatever the f-ck ppl call themselves today) I’ve crossed some sort of disgusting line. I will most likely never look good again. The best I can do is try not to make anyone vomit! My body has been ravished by awful living. Thx.” Lange later re-tweeted a follower who suggested that he may have meant that his appearance had been “ravaged.” In an interview with Radar Online, Artie’s mother, Judy Lange, confirmed that his situation is dire: “Artie has to take care of a few things. He’s got diabetes, so that doesn’t help. He’s okay, as much as he can be. But he is fighting addiction — trying to get through that, and hopefully he will,” Judy told the outlet . “He told me he went to the doctors, but I haven’ t received a report yet from him as to what’s going on. So I don’t know,” she added. Lange first checked into rehab back in 1997, when he was a cast member on the sketch comedy series Mad TV. In the decades that followed, he sobered up several times, but slipped back into addiction just as often. View Slideshow: 25 Celebrities Who Have Been to Rehab In 2010, Lange attempted suicide by drinking bleach and stabbing himself in the abdomen several times. It was not the first time he had attempted to take his own life. Lange survived the incident after being found unconscious by his mother, and he returned to his job on The Howard Stern Show  after being released from the hospital. Lange has enjoyed a career renaissance recently thanks to his roles on The AA Show and the Judd Apatow HBO series Crashing . We wish Artie and his loved ones all the best.
