Artie Lange: Comic Reportedly Near Death Following Latest Relapse

Fans of the comedian Artie Lange know that the former Howard Stern co-host is as well known for his very public struggles with substance abuse as for his razor-sharp wit. In December, Lange tweeted that he was in treatment for his addictions to cocaine and heroin and hoped to be out of treatment and performing again soon. The 50-year-old had tested the limitations of his body over his many years of substance abuse, and fans were stunned to see that his nose had become had become badly misshapen due to decades of snorting various drugs . For several weeks, it looked as though Lange had fully committed himself to the hard work of recovery. He even vowed to do one show a month for which all proceeds would go to toward helping a fellow addict attend rehab. But now, a source close to the comic tells Radar Online that Lange has fallen off the wagon and is currently “in self-destruction mode.” Lange is due in court on January 30 for repeated probation violations. The insider says friends and family worry that he since he knows he’ll be sent to prison or court-ordered rehab, Lange has decided to throw caution to the wind in the weeks between now and then. “He knows he won’t survive drug court, so he’s going to party as much as much as he can until he gets thrown in jail or a year-long rehab,” the source says. “Even his sponsors from The Retreat [Lange’s most recent rehab center] know that he’s partying even though he’s denying it.” The situation has become so dire that Lange’s colleagues have taken to reaching out to him publicly on social media. “Even Richard Lewis reached out to him on Twitter begging him to get clean,” the insider revealed. “You know if Artie is tweeting at 4 a.m. he’s high.” “Artie, this is my 1000th request over decades to beg you to surrender to your addictions,” Lewis tweeted last week, sharing a photo of haggard-looking Lange in a New Jersey courtroom. “We had the most laughs sober. I love you. You’re beloved and a magnificent comedian cursed with self loathing and fear. Give it up and live.” “What Richard said. Come ON, Artie,” echoed comic Patton Oswalt. “Seriously @artiequitter, please, please listen to Richard,” tweeted comedian and actor Brian Posehn. “As a fellow comic, I really don’t want to have to tweet about how f–king funny you were and how sad it is you’re gone any time super soon. We all love you alive, man.” “Wow I just read this article,” Lange tweeted on Sunday in response to the outpouring of concern. “Guys I’m so blown away by this concern for me. I do not deserve it. I promise u I don’t mean any disrespect to u all,” he added. “I want to live. I want to work. I’m so sorry if I cause u to worry. I love u & I hear u. Loud and clear.” We’d like to add our voice to the chorus of concerned well-wishers who hope to enjoy Lange’s work for many years to come. UPDATE: Moments ago, Lange tweeted a response to the latest reports about his condition. “To the insider selling bullshit to Radar on Line. I know who u are,” Lange tweeted. “I won’t do anything in response that would properly show the disappointmentt [sic] I carry but I say “U eat cheese. it’s like u grew up anywhere but North Jersey. I bow my head. I will light a candle. For ur soul.” We’ll have further updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.

Artie Lange: Comic Reportedly Near Death Following Years of Addiction

If you’re a fan of Artie Lange, then you probably know the beloved comedian, radio personality, and podcast host isn’t exactly Joe Rogan when it comes to clean living. Lange has struggled with addiction and other health issues for most of his adult life, and he’s been refreshingly candid about the toll that a decades-long cycle of rehab and relapses has taken on his body. Now, following a string of canceled gigs and some troubling tweets, fans are worried that Lange’s years of recklessness may soon cost him his life. The 50-year-old canceled a scheduled appearance on his webseries The Artie & Anthony Show this week, and his explanation has sparked serious concern: “The AA show is the best job! I really have the flu. I got a flu shot! I got the flu. Antibiotics are working &I plan on being in tomm. Anthony & I are good on air,” Lange tweeted “Please stick w us. I will make this work! U fans must feel I’m like a loser cousin u tolerate. Thx for that.” Several followers pointed out that antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections, not viruses like the flu. Still, Lange simply may have been mistaken about what sort of treatment he was receiving. The comic initially seemed optimistic about his condition, but later tweets led fans to the conclusion that his illness is more serious than he let on at first: “Doctor seemed worried. Took blood. I promise if I die it will be on the AA show. Howard used to beg me to agree to this! I refused. This is special. I’m willing to put it in a contract. If u think I’m joking u did not see the look on my Drs face,” Lange tweeted yesterday. He elaborated in a way that did little to assuage his fans’ greatest fears: “Also with regards to my appearance. Fans. Followers. (whatever the f-ck ppl call themselves today) I’ve crossed some sort of disgusting line. I will most likely never look good again. The best I can do is try not to make anyone vomit! My body has been ravished by awful living. Thx.” Lange later re-tweeted a follower who suggested that he may have meant that his appearance had been “ravaged.” In an interview with Radar Online, Artie’s mother, Judy Lange, confirmed that his situation is dire: “Artie has to take care of a few things. He’s got diabetes, so that doesn’t help. He’s okay, as much as he can be. But he is fighting addiction — trying to get through that, and hopefully he will,” Judy told the outlet . “He told me he went to the doctors, but I haven’ t received a report yet from him as to what’s going on. So I don’t know,” she added. Lange first checked into rehab back in 1997, when he was a cast member on the sketch comedy series Mad TV. In the decades that followed, he sobered up several times, but slipped back into addiction just as often. View Slideshow: 25 Celebrities Who Have Been to Rehab In 2010, Lange attempted suicide by drinking bleach and stabbing himself in the abdomen several times. It was not the first time he had attempted to take his own life. Lange survived the incident after being found unconscious by his mother, and he returned to his job on The Howard Stern Show  after being released from the hospital. Lange has enjoyed a career renaissance recently thanks to his roles on The AA Show and the Judd Apatow HBO series Crashing . We wish Artie and his loved ones all the best.

Leah Messer: Headed to Rehab? Teen Mom Star’s Family Plans Intervention

For the past few weeks, things have been going downhill for Leah Messer, and it seems the Teen Mom star’s family and friends have grown concerned about her go-to coping mechanism. Rumors that Leah is addicted to prescription drugs have been around for months, but despite the 22-year-old’s assurances that there’s no cause for concern, the problem has reportedly only gotten worse. Recently, a drug dealer who lives in Leah’s area claimed that Messer spends $600 a week on pills . Insiders say things began to spiral out of control when Jeremy Calvert moved out on Leah after less than three years of marriage. “Leah’s not in a good place right now. She’s lost,” a source tells Radar Online. “Her friends think she needs rehab.” “MTV would foot the bill. They’re as shocked about this as the fans and genuinely want to help.” Anonymous friends of Leah’s say that she’s committed to making her marriage work, but that Calvert has already made up his mind that he wants out. “He’s already met with lawyers and he’s definitely filing for divorce,” says one insider. “He’s over Leah.” Unfortunately, those closest to Messer believe that they may have to threaten her with losing custody of her children before she’ll agree to seek treatment. “Leah loves her children,” says one friend. “If she really thinks she’ll lose them, she’ll go to rehab.” Watch Teen Mom online at TV Fanatic to see Leah in happier times. True Tori Season 2 Episode 3: The Best Quotes & Cringe-Worthy Moments

For all the talk of True Tori (and Tori Spelling’s whole life) being scripted, there were plenty of undeniably real moments last night, for better or worse. True Tori Season 2 Episode 3 Quotes “I was feeling really bad about my potato-making skills.” – Tori, after Dean felt that she had microwaved a potato incorrectly, sending her plunging into an existential crisis and a state of instant self-loathing Permalink: Not So Hot Potato Added: November 05, 2014 1. Not So Hot Potato “I was feeling really bad about my potato-making skills.” – Tori, after Dean felt that she had microwaved a potato incorrectly, sending… While she absolutely milks her personal problems for money and fame, there’s simply no faking some of the specifics we saw on True Tori Season 2 Episode 3 . It was the kind of slow-moving TV train wreck that just kept getting more ridiculous, and more uncomfortable to watch, with each passing moment. You couldn’t script anything that bad if you tried. And we’re sure she would. But perhaps therein lies the genius of the show. She’s trying SO hard to make dramatic, must-see TV that even the byproduct of her failure is pretty epic. For example, if you can bring yourself to watch True Tori online , you’ll see: Tori argue with Dean McDermott over a baked potato, then turn it into a referendum on how he treats her as a person, in the span of 10 seconds. Tori vent about about those men with cameras … to a cameraman. Tori relentlessly hype up a long-awaited, very much unnecessary reunion with ex-husband Charlie Shanian , only to have him refuse to be filmed. Tori’s kid ask if mom and dad can take turns driving her to cheer. The young one is clearly a pro’s pro when it comes to reading cue cards. Watch True Tori Season 2 Episode 3 Online How can the painful paid possibly top this come next week on Lifetime? We have no idea honestly, but when it comes to Tori Spelling’s ability to give herself nervous breakdowns for the sake of ratings, we put nothing past her. Seriously. If no drama presents itself, she’ll come up with some.

Miley Cyrus: Topless, Toothless, Covered in Fried Chicken on Instagram

Miley Cyrus has a weird thing about getting naked and Photoshopping random crap onto her boobs. First Miley sunbathed topless with aliens on her nipples, now she’s presented us with what might be the least arousing nude pic in the history of photography: Yup, that’s something you can’t unsee.  If the fake hillbilly teeth weren’t enough to turn you off, there’s also the cartoon fried chicken to conjure the feeling of greasy skin and the smell of the Colonel’s secret recipe. Miley’s Instagram  has always been a weird place, but the singer/uber-stoned performance artist has really A-game on terms of bizarre topless selfies lately. Take the daisy and disco titties pics from last week. Is she trying to confuse penises all over the world? Because if so, she’s doing a bang-up job. Normally we’re in favor of all types of nudity, but lately, Miley’s has felt like something from a Ren & Stimpy cartoon that never made it to air because it was more terrifying than funny. Reportedly, Miley’s dating Patrick Schwarzenegger now, so maybe she’ll cool it with the weird nakedness now that she’s connected to a high-powered political family. Then again, no one’s more allergic to shirts that Arnold. Miley Cyrus Instagram Photos 1. Artie Lange Tweets X-Rated, Slave-Based Fantasy About ESPN’s Cari Champion

WARNING: The following messages are rated R. For both adult content. And their Ridiculously inappropriate nature. On Tuesday, Artie Lange went on a Twitter barrage in reference to ESPN Cari Champion, who is best known for hosing the awful show First Take. The sexual rant began in a grotesque manner… and then only grew worse from there. “The chick on ESPNs First Take is so f-ckin hot! Trying to maintain erection and jerkoff to chick on First Take but they keep cutting back to Stephen A Smith and the white guy,” Lange wrote. “Frustrating! I want the Chick on First Take to laugh at my white d-ck!” Lange then proceeded to bring Champion’s race even more into the spotlight. “Here’s the scenario I’m using to jerkoff to chick on First Take, he continued. “I’m T. Jefferson & she’s my slave. She beats the sh-t out of me & runs free. Then I c-m and she’s free! The Happiest ending ever! Then as reparations I make Skip Baylis (sic) my slave! “I attempt to whip @CariChampion cuz she disrespected the Jefferson Plantation but she grabs whip & beats me I c*m like a fat founding father.” In response to this vitriol, #iSupportCari started to trend today on Twitter. Champion is yet to speak out on Lange’s disgusting Tweets, but we feel terrible for her. It’s bad enough having to sit across from Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless everyday.

Will Artie Lange Return to Howard Stern Show?

Recovering comedian Artie Lange said he would give anything to get his job back on the Howard Stern Show. He has not, however, asked Howard about it. Lange left the show in early 2010 after a sudden hospitalization. He later went to rehab to get his alcoholism under control, but is reportedly better now. Stern discussed Artie this morning, saying Lange’s comments “stirred up a whole bunch of conversation that I don’t even know how to begin to address.” Asked if Artie ever personally approached Howard to ask for his job back, Howard replied, “No, but I think he would if he could get a hold of me.” As for Artie’s possible return to radio with a new show , Howard said, “Of course I support it. I think it would be great. I’d like to listen to Artie.” Howard, whose show Lange was a fixture on for years, added, “I’m glad to hear he’s feeling better … I’m pulling for him. I hope he does okay.”

Howard Stern’s sidekick Artie Lange hospitalized after suicide attempt

Stand-up comic, published author and co-star of The Howard Stern radio show Artie Lange was quietly rushed to the hospital Sunday night . At that time, there was no further explanation and Stern remained tight-lipped about it on his show. But now, Page Six is reporting that the troubled comedian, who has a long history of drug and alcohol abuse, gambling addiction and depression, tried to commit suicide by cutting himself nine times. Troubled comic Artie Lange landed in the hospital after stabbing himself nine times in an apparent suicide attempt, sources told The Post. Lange’s frantic mom called 911 Saturday morning after she entered his Hoboken apartment and found the bloodied funnyman, a law-enforcement source said. Lange sustained six “hesitation wounds” and three deep plunges. A source close to Lange’s management team confirmed that the Howard Stern sidekick stabbed himself, adding that his mother had come to visit him that day to drop off food. Surgeons managed to save Lange despite heavy bleeding. “We all have our demons,” Stern said on-air this week, referring to Lange’s past battles with addiction. “Artie has given this show tremendous moments of great comedy. He’s a tremendous contributor. He is a good man. Don’t forget how great he is.” [From Page Six] Lange is a textbook example of a “Crying on the inside” comedian. Love him or hate him, this is pretty darn sad. Stabbing yourself is a desperate act, indicative of someone at the end of their rope. Anyone who listens to the show knows that Artie has been in a bad way for quite some time, but hasn’t been ready to do the work needed to stay off drugs, treat his depression and take better care of himself. At least, not for more than a couple of weeks at a time. I hope he takes some time off and focuses on his mental and physical health.
