The man responsible for the creation of almost all of the comic book characters we know and love is being honored with a street named after him in The Bronx. According to reports from The New York Post , City Council voted on Tuesday to co-name University Avenue between Brandt Place and West 176th Street “Stan Lee Way.” The Marvel icon lived in the area and was also an alum at DeWitt Clinton High School. All there is to do now is to get mayoral sign-off on the proposal for the honor to become official. Stan Lee died in November at the age of 95 and has been highly honored by both fans and actors alike since his passing. At this month’s San Diego Comic-Con, tributes to Lee were all over the place, including a commemorative Stan Lee plush doll that appeared in a bunch of fan photos from the festivities. The news comes just two days after Lange tweeted an encouraging update about his sobriety. “Lange is non-compliant,” said a spokesperson for the Essex County Sheriff’s Office in New Jersey. “Consequently, he will be taken into custody by officers from the Essex County Sheriff’s Office,” the official added. “He will be returned to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark.” The representative added that reports of Lange’s progress and commitment to sobriety have been exaggerated, saying: “All the stories gave the impression he was doing great, but that is not the case.” Those positive progress reports included a tweet on Friday that showed Lange, smiling and holding Howard Stern’s latest memoir while working at a New Jersey gas station. “Pumping gas and reading Howard Sterns new book, which is great by the way,” a rep for Lange tweeted on the comic’s behalf. “I read in 2004 Trump interview with me there. I’m reading about the POTUS when a guy yells at me ‘yo fill it with regular’ lol, my crazy life!” Lange was a co-host on Stern’s satellite radio show for several years before being let go as a result of his substance abuse issues. During his press tour for the book, Stern confessed that he felt guilty for firing Lange at a time when his friend was most in need of support. “I get sad talking about Artie. He was a tremendous contributor. But we had to move on,” Stern told The New York Times . “I got my fingers crossed for the guy. And it wasn’t a clean break.” Clearly, Stern joins Lange’s many thousands of loyal fans and comedy colleagues in hoping for the best for Artie — and being continually disappointed by developments like today’s. Lange has been arrested numerous times over the course of the past three years, and on each occasion, his brushes with the law seemed to serve as needed wake up calls. Artie was most recently released from jail in February, and he immediately headed to an in-patient rehab clinic. Even though Wilson eventually becomes Captain America in the comic books, Mackie says that he still didn’t expect the transition to happen on-screen–he wasn’t even aware of his own future until his co-star Chris Evans informed him. “We were at his house and he goes, ‘You excited?’ And I go, ‘What you talking about? And he goes, ‘You don’t know?’ He jumps up, runs out of the room and comes back in with the script. He’s like, ‘Read it!’” Mackie continued, “And I read the scene, and I’m like, ‘Whoa,’…We cried. Source: 20th Century Fox / 20th Century Fox While the world awaits the arrival of Captain Marvel and the conclusion to The Avengers in End Game , there is another comic book film franchise that once dominated the summer called X-Men and it seems like people have forgotten that they have one more sequel dropping this summer as well. Though fan interest in the franchise dropped off a cliff after the abomination that was 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse , this summer’s Dark Phoenix is looking to recapture comic book fanboys interest in the franchise. From the looks of the latest trailer, that might be a tall order. While the first trailer did little to nothing to build a buzz for the latest installment in the X-Men franchise, the second trailer features Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) discovering her destructive powers which puts the fear of God in her enemies and even X-Men family. With Smith (Jessica Chastain) encouraging her transformation, Jean not only finds herself struggling to contain her newfound powers but also fears for the safety of her X-fam. As she should. From there on she unleashes her power on government soldiers and her own mutant brethren including Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) who seems to have had her ticket punched by the all-powerful Phoenix. While this latest iteration of the classic Dark Phoenix Saga seems more interesting than the trainwreck that was 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand , it does lack the biggest component that made Brett Ratner’s last X film bearable: Wolverine. Seriously, any film without Logan isn’t really an X-Men film, it’s just a movie about mutants trying to save the world. Still though this will be 20th Century Fox’s last X-Men film before Marvel Studios takes over the franchise (thank God!!) and they might as well go out with a bang.
