Lance Armstrong Stripped of Olympic Bronze Medal

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has stripped Lance Armstrong of the bronze medal he won at the 2000 Sydney Olympics in the wake of his doping scandal. A letter sent to the disgraced cyclist Wednesday, just 24 hours before the interview in which Lance Armstrong admits doping airs on OWN, asks for it back. The IOC did so after the 41-year-old legend failed to appeal a decision by the International Cycling Union stripping him of his seven Tour de France titles. Cycling’s governing body, citing a wide-ranging report from the U.S. Anti-Doping Administration, disqualified all of Armstrong’s results dating back to 1998. Armstrong was given 21 days to appeal; he did not, but did not offer an admission of guilt – until this week’s sit-down with O – saying he simply wouldn’t appeal. “We were waiting for confirmation from the UCI that he hadn’t appealed against his disqualification,” an IOC spokesman said of its decision to reclaim the medal. The first installment of an extensive interview Armstrong gave Oprah Winfrey earlier this week is set to air tonight only on OWN. You don’t want to miss it.

Pure Comedy: Where Is PETA?! Woman Attempts To Send Puppy Priority Mail

The nerve of this woman! Where is PETA? Who the hell tries to mail four month old puppy via USPS: “A woman who tried to mail a puppy in a box from Minnesota to Georgia now wants the puppy back, along with the $22 she paid to ship the dog. When Stacey Champion first brought the box to the post office, she warned postal workers to be careful, but reassured them that she was shipping a toy robot. But when the box began to move and make noise, workers got permission to open it, and found a 4-month old puppy inside named Guess, a black poodle-Schnauzer mix. The postal workers gave the thirsty pup some water, and now he’s at an animal control facility. Prior to notifying authorities that she wanted the dog back, Champion returned to the post office demanding a refund of the $22 she paid to mail the puppy, in addition to requesting that a small amount of money attached to a makeshift dog collar be returned.” SMH. This broad needs to get her life together.. “Champion claims that she did in fact think that what she was doing was not only right, but a nice gesture. Champion explains that she intended to send the puppy to her son on his birthday because she “wanted to surprise him really, really good.” She poked holes in the box (which later were covered up by tape) and argues, “They don’t have a display of what should be shipped and what should not be shipped.” But who said that Stacey The “Dog Mailer” wasn’t thoughtful?! She even took the time to write on the outside of the package, “This is for your 11th birthday. It’s what you wanted.” Stacey Champion, who was obviously denied her request for the dog back, has been charged with animal cruelty! Source

Allahu Akbar! Hosni Mubarak Set To Step Down As The “President” Of Egypt!!

Source Bout DAMN time! CAIRO — Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak is to step down, two sources told NBC News Thursday, as widespread protests against his 30-year rule continue to grip the country. Following an all-day meeting of the country’s supreme military council, state television reported that the military council had expressed its “support of the legitimate demands” of the people. NBC News reported that a high-ranking source inside the president’s office said Mubarak would step down and the newly appointed vice president, Omar Suleiman, would take over. This was then confirmed by a second source. The news came following repeated warnings by members of the regime of a military crackdown or coup. Some pro-democracy protesters reacted cautiously, saying they would only believe Mubarak was really resigning when he announced it on state television. State TV said Mubarak would speak to the nation Thursday night from his palace in Cairo. However, Al-Arabiya television news said there were reports that Mubarak had gone to the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik with his army chief of staff. There were other reports that he had actually left Egypt yesterday and that his statement was pre-recorded. Despite being happy about Mubarak’s resignation there are still some concerns amongst Egyptians about what type of governing body will take power. “It’s a good development, but we really want to know if it will be a military government or not. That’s our fear,” Ahmed Medhat, a 41-year-old film director who was in the square earlier Thursday, said. “Maybe it will be a military government for five months, it will be ok. But forever?” he said. “We are waiting to take a decision. Will it be a military government? Maybe we stay and we are not going home again.” Congratulations to the people of Egypt! You stood your ground and it appears that you will get exactly what you asked for. Source

Le Havre settle dispute over Paul Pogba’s move to Manchester United

• Le Havre had accused Manchester United of poaching player • Ligue two club said they have ‘reached an agreement’ Le Havre have settled their dispute with Manchester United over Paul Pogba’s controversial move to Old Trafford. “Le Havre and Manchester United are satisfied to have reached an agreement regarding Paul Pogba’s integration to the Manchester United squad,” the Ligue two side said yesterday. Le Havre had accused the Premier League club of illegally poaching the 17-year-old Frenchman from their academy last August while United said they had not broken any rules. Le Havre had asked the world governing body Fifa to investigate the case of Pogba, who they said had agreed to join them only to leave for United. The case was similar to that of league rivals Chelsea, who were banned by Fifa from signing players until January 2011 for improper conduct when they acquired Gaël Kakuta from the French Ligue 1 club Lens in 2007. The ban was later lifted after the two clubs reached an agreement. Manchester United Le Havre guardian.co.uk
