Nun Wins The Voice Italy, Releases "Like a Virgin" as Debut Single

Who will win The Voice Season 7 in America? Fans continue to tune in each and every week to find out. But Italy has already crowned its champion of The Voice, with Internet users around the globe reacting in the only appropriate manner: HOLY cow! Yup, Sister Cristina Scuccia has taken home the grand prize. Cristina Scuccia – “Like a Virgin” But it gets even better. Scuccia – who won over fans with her rendition of Alicia Key’s “No One” – went with a different classic for her debut single, one to which she can very easily relate: “Like a Virgin” by Madonna! This talented nun has turned this iconic pop song into a sincere power ballad. She’s also omitted some of more X-rated lyrics, singing in front of religious monuments in Venice, Italy and highlighting the more pious elements of the track in the official music video. We’ve posted it above. In an interview with the Catholic paper Avvenire, Scuccia said she chose the song “with no intention to provoke or scandalize.” Instead, she explained that “reading the text, without being influenced by previous interpretations, you discover that it is a song about the power of love to renew people. They’ve gone to all this trouble to keep it a secret, and just like that, Dean goes and… shows his hand. Sorry, it had to be done. They just make it too easy.
