Football Player Jordan Johnson Says No To Georgia Tech After Campus Police Allegedly Profile Him, His Mother And Brother Jordan Johnson, a 6-foot-3, 260-pound guard at Ed White High in Jacksonville, shook up the Twittersphere over Thanksgiving weekend when he announced his de-commitment from Georgia Tech after a “bad experience” with campus police. Ive decided to decommit from Georgia Tech I had a bad experience at yesterdays game I would to say thank you to all of the faculty and staff — KeltonJordanJohnson™ (@3rdJohnsonboy) November 29, 2015 USA Today reports: …Johnson said that he and his brother went to the concession stand and returned to find an officer telling his mother that she had to leave where she was sitting because she did not have a ticket. Johnson said he showed the officer the lanyard that recruits and their families are given to attend the game in lieu of tickets. Johnson said the officer “felt as though we had forged those badges and we didn’t belong in the game.” When Johnson said he would decommit because of the incident, he said the officer responded that he “wouldn’t care because he would still have his job if I went there or not.” Johnson says he and his family sat in the same seats that they sat in a few weeks ago during the Florida State game. He says campus police thought the tickets his mom and brother had were fake. “My name was printed on my ticket: ‘Jordan Johnson’ because I am the recruit. But my mom and brother’s name was hand written because they were my guest.”…. So many questions to this story! Like, if this guy was a long-time recruit, shouldn’t they have known who he was by then? Twitter showed up to support the athlete taking a stand with messages of encouragement. @3rdJohnsonboy You are a true hero & champion of principle. I'd like to contribute to your college endeavors – whichever you may choose. — Mel City (@TheRealMELCITY) December 1, 2015 @3rdJohnsonboy I applaud your courage in standing up for your mother. No matter where you go, you'll have my support! — J dubya (@drjwmoore) December 1, 2015 Johnson later tweeted about how he still loved the school, but needs this situation resolved first. I did and I still do, this problem needs to be solved though. https://t.co/0jb4Jp3UWC — KeltonJordanJohnson™ (@3rdJohnsonboy) November 30, 2015 I expressed the incident to the public hoping for a resolution, not to get lies spread about me or my character.
