Donna Summer Dead at 63

Donna Summer died this morning after a battle with cancer. She was 63. The singer was in Florida at the time of her death , according to reports. Known as the Queen of Disco, Donna Summer was said to be trying to keep the extent of her illness under wraps. Just a few weeks ago, people close to her say she was focused on trying to finish up an album she had been working on. Summer was a five-time Grammy winner who rose to fame with hits – “Last Dance,” “Hot Stuff” and “Bad Girls” – that were synonymous with the 1970s. Donna and her producer Giorgio Moroder defined the dance music era of the ’70s, influencing acts like Duran Duran, David Bowie and many others. Summer married Brooklyn Dreams singer Bruce Sudano in 1980. The couple had two daughters together. R.I.P. to one of the greats. Donna Summer – Last Dance
