Randy Travis is currently resting in a Texas hospital and is listed in critical condition after his admission Sunday due to a heart condition known as viral cardiomyopathy. The ailment weakens and enlarges the heart, making it unable to work as well as it should. It’s unclear what caused the infection and the singer’s rep has not provided any further details at this time, though it’s unlikely Travis will perform as scheduled in South Dakota on Wednesday. Travis had lately been in the news for a handful of legal incidents. His smashed pickup was discovered on the side of a road last August; he was involved in a drunken parking lot brawl the week prior to that accident; and he was arrested for DUI two weeks before prior to that dust-up.
