Madonna Grill Photo: The Moment Grills Jumped the Shark?

So Madonna is apparently rocking a grill these days. Like the moment your mother and father joined Facebook, this makes one wonder if grills are officially no longer the hot, new “in” thing about celebrities. Age is just a number. Even if that number is 54. Always fashionable and forever young, Her Madgesty channeled her inner Lil Wayne and got her mouth blinged out in a shiny gold grill over the weekend. We’re not saying you can’t pull off a certain look if you’re a certain age … but these images aren’t making a compelling argument for the style. Just saying. At least it’s not Rihanna’s gun grill ?

Demi Lovato Dishes on Cutting, Depression, Britney Spears

Demi Lovato is featured on the cover of the latest Self , delving into issues both personal and professional with the magazine in one of the singer’s more revealing interviews. Why did she cut herself back in the day? “There were times I felt so anxious, almost like I was crawling out of my skin – that if I didn’t do something physical to match the way I felt inside, I would explode… I cut myself to take my mind off that. I just didn’t care what happened. I had no fear.” How is she recovering? “I make time for myself and meditate. I’ve spent the past two years getting over an eating disorder and issues like self-harming and bipolar disorder . I have to work on this stuff every day. I’m reminded of that whenever I eat or feel down.” What is her new perception of beauty? “I used to feel my most beautiful when I was on the red carpet or at events or something where I’m all dolled up. Now I feel like the moment when I feel most beautiful is when I’m able to hang out with a guy without my makeup on or lay on the beach with no makeup on and not even worrying about what my hair or what I look like before I fall asleep.” How does she feel about her fellow X-Factor judges? “Britney is such a sweet girl! We’ve gone through a lot of the same things, so we have a connection. Simon’s so funny and so cool, and LA – he’s really awesome.”

Russell Crowe Takes Us Inside Robin Hood’s Climactic Speech

‘Robin’s not a grandiose bloke,’ Crowe says of his everyman character. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Todd Gilchrist Russel Crowe Photo: MTV News Russell Crowe gives good speech. Throw on a DVD of “Gladiator” or “Master and Commander” and see for yourself: The dude can give such a killer pep talk, he’ll have you rising out of your La-Z-Boy to join whatever crusade he’s hyping. His rousing speech as the title character in “Robin Hood,” however, was of an entirely different nature and required a sufficiently distinct approach on Crowe’s part. Not that everyone around him, including director Ridley Scott, initially agreed with Crowe’s plan. “Robin’s not a grandiose bloke,” Crowe told MTV News. “Everybody around it was thinking that, ‘You have to take this one to the bank, man. You have to nail it. This has got to be like the moment from “Gladiator” when you said such and such.’ I was like, ‘Well, he’s not that guy.’ That guy was a general. He’s used to being in control and he can’t help but stamp himself on a moment. Robin’s just a bloke.” That is to say, Crowe’s Robin Hood does not begin the film as some steal-from-the-rich-give-to-the-poor superhero. In fact, this Robin is more concerned with self-preservation than anything approaching public altruism. What changes him is falling in love with a woman — the ethereal Cate Blanchett as Maid Marion — and learning the secret history of his father. And so when it comes time for Robin to confront the nefarious King John, who’s gone off on a quest to tax almost every last penny from his indigent subjects, Crowe brings a sort of everyman attitude to his speech. “You’ve got to be real in this moment,” he explained. “You are talking to a king, so you can only go so far. He’s got to know his place. It’s not interesting if he takes a contemporary attitude and goes, ‘I don’t f—ing care if you’re a king.’ You’ve got to stay in that pocket. “Take the cape off him, take the mask, he’s just a man,” he added. Crystal Bowersox Performs, Wows Judges On ‘American Idol’

It was unclear until the show aired whether the recently hospitalized singer would even make it to the show. By James Montgomery Crystal Bowersox on “American Idol” Wednesday Photo: Fox A day after she was hospitalized with what “American Idol” producers would only describe as “medical issues” and after a full day of drama about whether she’d even show up for Wednesday night’s (March 3) “Idol” telecast , Crystal Bowersox not only performed, she brought the house down. And, in the process, she may have established herself as the girl to beat in season nine. At the opening of the show, as host Ryan Seacrest was introducing the 10 remaining female contestants, he paused, put his arm around Bowersox and asked her how she was feeling. “I feel good,” she said. “I’m a tough cookie.” And she wasn’t kidding. Bowersox showed no signs of being under the weather, leading off the episode with a soulful version of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “As Long as I Can See the Light,” which showed off her powerful pipes and earned a well-deserved standing ovation from the audience and a whole lot of praise from the “Idol” judges. “That is pure, raw, natural talent. … There’s nothing forced, there’s nothing pushed, it is just raw, natural talent,” Ellen DeGeneres told Bowersox. “And I am so glad you are here today. I was so scared for you. So please stay healthy. We need you here. You are amazing.” Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi raved too, but the highest compliment was paid by none other than Simon Cowell, who praised Bowersox’s toughness and compared her to one of the all-time “Idol” greats, Kelly Clarkson. “I know how sick you were, actually, over the last 24 hours. … It wasn’t just like catching a cold or something. You really were ill, and I didn’t know whether you were going to back here this week,” Cowell said of Bowersox’s complications due to diabetes. “What’s great about you is that you didn’t play the whole sympathy thing, you chose a great song. I have to tell you something, Crystal: I completely underestimated you last week, because for you to come back this week with that song, that performance … I promise you, this was like the moment we realized with Kelly Clarkson that we’ve got a serious artist here. And I think we’ve got a really serious artist with you.” Bowersox smiled and thanked the judges, and then was asked by Seacrest if, in the hours leading up to the show, she was worried about her health. As it turns out, she was more anxious about something else. “I was just worried I wasn’t going to be here,” Bowersox smiled. It’s a good thing she made it. Earlier in the day, “Idol” producer Ken Warwick had told Seacrest on his radio show that if Bowersox didn’t perform, she’d be booted from the show. But just before “Idol” went on the air, she calmed her fans’ nerves by tweeting that her ” ‘beetus is under control. Thanks for all your well wishes … can’t wait to perform tonight.” Related Photos ‘American Idol’ Season Nine Performances The ‘American Idol’ Season 9 Top 24
